This is a great hotel. Check-in was easy, they were able to give me a room upon arrival instead of waiting til 3pm. Check-in staff was very helpful and pleasant. The rooms were spacious and nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. My overall impression was that this is a hotel that is well managed and staffed by people who like working there. Everyone I encountered- front desk, cleaning staff, restaurant staff were helpful and attentive. Can't ask for anythin more than that. Add the convenience of being a few blocks up from the central train station and this is definitely a hotel I woudl visit again.

Dear guest, thank you very much for giving us such a nice feedback. Of course we are exerted to check-in our early arrivers before 3 pm if its possible. Because we know that lots of them have a very long journey behind. We were glad to afford you a very nice stay at the ARCOTEL Camino Stuttgart. We are looking forward to welcome you again. The hotel is very nice, it is located in a new building designed to resemble a medieval castle, the rooms are spacious but the layout is somewhat unconventional: while the toilet is isolated from the living area, the hand basin and shower area are only separated with a semi-transparent curtain (see the picture). This arrangement may not be comfortable for friends -- as opposed to spouses or partners -- staying in the same room. Our room was a double, probably they have a different layour for twins.

Location-wise the hotel is on a hill behind the central railway station. It is not steep but it is a five-to-ten-minute hike up the slope. They have their own parking lot that costs 16 euros.

The "free" internet is not readily available. In fact, they offer a very slow (56 kbps) "free" connection by ADSL cable (and a normal fast connection for a pay), but to active it, a ticket must be obtained from the front desk. I went down to the reception at about 7 pm on a Saturday night and asked for a ticket, the manager (Daniel) told me that the server was down due to the fact that too many free tickets had been issued to guests and that I had to wait for at least half an hour. I did not have time to wait for it and I only got the ticket on my way back to the hotel at about 11 pm. I consider that the offer of "free" internet is for the form's sake only and is actually misleading, given the low speed and complexity of the procedure involved.

Dear Smartnik, thank you for giving us a feedback. We have several options of different bathrooms. You had a room with an open bathroom. We have around 50 of that kind. All other rooms have bathrooms which are closed. There is no curtain. Some guest like the open bathrooms, some not. In your case we are sorry, that you did not enjoy this kind of bathroom.
We offer a 56 kb/s free Internet access and in your case, unfortunately, there has been no possibility for giving you a voucher for the internet. We are sorry for that and are able to tell you, that this is not the normal way. We had some problems with our access system. Our employees offered you the free internet terminal at the reception, which you used before leaving the hotel. When you came back from town the free internet access has been available and it has been handed out to you. We feel sorry for the discomfort caused by the internet access and hope to see you again soon at the ARCOTEL Camino. Kind regards, Peter Leidig, Front Office Manager.

This hotel was outstanding in everyway. good size rooms, good sise bathroom, wonderful help, free internet in lobby, beautifully designed. inside new--outside looks like an old castle. very near railroad station--about 3 blocks away. nothing near hotel, but once you get to the station, you are near the city center and the metro there goes everywhere.

The new mercedes-benz museum is fabulous and every single bit of information is written in english as well as german. it is beautiful and fascinating if you are interested in the history of transportation and also how concentration camp survivors were used as laborers int the factories. There is also a very beautiul town about 20 minutes away by subway that goes dirctly from the train station. ZI can't recall the name, but it is something like isseling or essling. ask--it is so beautiful, any will know it.

We stayed at the Arcotel Camino October 2009. Having just come from Amsterdam, we found the Amsterdam hotel staff to be more friendly, but the Arcotel staff was definitely helpful. The hotel was very, very clean, in a great location in terms of hopping on the city trains, and offered a great breakfast in the morning. The only complaint we really had was my husband felt the carpet made him dizzy and that perhaps the hotel had bit of sterile feel. I'd rather have a hotel too tidy than be on the dirty side, however.

We did not eat at the hotel restaurant, but it looked good. We did enjoy the bar and the bartenders were very friendly and recommended great wines to try.

I would probably try some other place in the future with more ambiance, but I would definitely recommend it to friends for the cleanliness, value and the convience of location.

Dear narnialady,

thank you very much for giving us a feedback concerning your stay in our hotel.

Cleanliness is very important for a hotel, where many people go in and out. And we place great impotance on that. Just imagine you get an unclean room, where you pay a lot of money for.
Your sleep ist the most important thing, that we can do for you during your stay.

We are looking forward to welcome you again at the ARCOTEL Camino.

Kind regards, Peter Leidig, Front Office Manager.

Nice hotel approx. 10 min walk from the city center.

The hotel was modern, and everything felt new and clean. The room was spacious, and the decor was very nice. (however, the carpet was just awful. We did not really care for the arm chair in the room and the restaurant/bar either.)

Staff was friendly. Two computers in the lobby with free internet axcess (very slow, but ok for checking e-mail etc).

We thought it was a bargin for just 99 EUR per night for a double room, but after adding parking (16 EUR per night at the hotels private parking lot) and breakfast (17 EUR per person) it actually was quite expensive. We enjoyed our stay, but will probably look for better value at other hotels if we visit Stuttgart again.

I stayed at the Arcotel Camino from 6-9 August 2009. I travelled to Stuttgart with my Mum for a shopping/girlie weekend. We stayed at the Arcotel Camino after I found a great deal on Hotels, com.
I thought the hotel was great. Very clean and well run. The rooms were well equipped and comfortable and the shower was awesome. Only a couple of downsides that fall more into personal choice than real blunders: no coffee/tea making facilities in the room and being on the top floor, the rooms were very hot (the great weather added to this) and dry so we often felt dehydrated in the morning ( there was aircon which worked fine but seemed to add to the dryness).
We didn't get breakfast included in our rate and we chose not to eat in the hotel so I can't comment on food. We did have a few drinks in the bar though. The barman was very friendly and spoke excellent English. The drinks were a bit on the pricey side - €9.50 for a cocktail but very nice.
The hotel was really well positioned - only 3 mins walk from the main train station and the shopping streets. There were loads of bars/restaurants in easy walking distance and we found the many food shops in the station great for a reasonably cheap breakfast/lunch.
The public transport is clean and efficient in Stuttgart. We rode the S Bahn to a town on the outskirts of Stuttgart called Oberturkheim. This is in the heart of the wine-lands and we followed the first part of the Weinwanderweg (wine walk) from Oberturkheim to Uhlbach. This was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon, wandering through vineyards and fruit trees through to Uhlbach and the Wine Museum (wine tasting). We also bought some wine from a local Winery - Wirtemberg Collegium. We caught the bus back to Oberturkheim ready to catch the S-bahn back to Stuttgart. A leaflet showing the full route of the Weinwanderweg, which is a four hour walk through 4 wine making villages, can be found on-line at www.stuttgarter-weinwanderweg.de or from the Tourist Information centre diagonally opposite the front entrance to the main train station.
All in all had a great time, the Germans were very friendly and helpful, and would readily go back to Stuttgart and the Arcotel Camino.
