“Great hostel in great location!”
Reviewed 14 August 2013

Really lovely hostel. Bright rooms, comfy beds, good showers and bathrooms. In a good location - Though in Neu-Ulm only a short walk or bus ride from the main Ulm city centre. Really enjoyed my stay here.

This small hostel has such a chilled and welcoming atmosphere - the owner Anja is very laid-back, friendly and helpful and just makes you feel so happy to be there. The building is old and atmospheric and the kitchen and living spaces are so lovely, with cool retro furniture, all the facilities you could need, and even a lovely chandelier! There's free teas and coffee and an 'honesty bar' with beers, drinks and snacks for when you get a bit peckish in the middle of the night.

The rooms are spacious and bright, with high ceilings, the beds are comfortable and cosy and the bathrooms are spotless. You have a choice of single, twin, three-bed or four-bed rooms.

But I suppose most of all it is the atmosphere, the friendliness of the host, the really cool and lovely people who you will meet staying there that sets this hostel apart (it is not btw a rowdy party hostel). We just felt so at home and met so many interesting people during our stay.

The location is absolutely perfect: just a short stroll over the bridge across the Danube to the enchanting old town centre, and there is also a bus stop nearby with a good bus service (no. 7) into the town and to and from the train and bus stations.

Cyclists are welcome (it's a Bike and Bett hostel) and there are facilities for bikes. You can also borrow a bike from the hostel to do what I believe is a very nice cycle along the banks of the Danube for miles either way... the town itself is also good for cycling...

Ulm itself was a revelation to us: it is extremely atmospheric with a medieval centre with gorgeous little cobblestoned streets with half-timbered old houses leaning crookedly over little waterways, the highest church tower in the world, a raft of very good bakeries, cafes and restaurants, and some good modern art galleries (there's currently a pop art exhibition, 'American Idols', on with paintings by Warhol, Rothko, etc) and museums (such as the quirky but wonderful Museum of Bread Culture).

The weather in this part of Germany is pretty good too in the summer - so what more can I say - go there and stay at the Brickstone!!!

This hostel was amazing. Hostels can be really gross or really nice, and this place was outstanding! I couldn't believe it! The gal from Brickstone I talked to on the phone was so nice and explained everything so well. I was really shocked to see everything exactly as she said. Something to be aware of is that the office hours are specific and you can't reach the Brickstone Hostel unless you call during working hours or send them an email. I only wish i could have spent more time here at this place. The kitchen area was friendly and inviting. There was a microwave and refrigerator to use and everything needed to cook your own meals if you want. The internet was free and worked everywhere I went with my computer; however, other guests couldn't seem to get their internet working. I didn't have any problems. Check out is at 11AM I think. The hostel is about 20 min. slow walk without luggage from the train station and with luggage, maybe 30+ minutes. I know you can take a bus but it was beautiful weather and gorgeous walk along the river. I loved this Hostel and will definitely be back.

It's a great place to spend a couple of nights in, and it's obvious that Anja, the lovely host, is really taking care of the place.

The rooms are big, the furniture seemed to be pretty new, and the beds were really comfy. There is a chill-out space at the first floor with a piano, guitar, and some books, and a large kitchen at the ground floor which is packed with basic ingredients that are free to use and snacks that you need to pay for. There is free wifi, though the coverage isn't that great, and showers/toilets were squeaky clean (you might even find some free shower gel or shampoo if you come unprepared ;)).

The place also welcomes cyclists, there's a locked place for storing bicycles while you stay at the hostel. Really love the world map in the ground floor lobby, be sure to ask for a pin. :)

This little hostel is run by its lovely owner, Anja. It has six rooms in two floors, with 2,3 or 4 beds each. The rooms are very large - mine was ~14m^2, and are equipped with very nice furniture, comfortable bed, light, closets, in one room I saw a piano! Everything is new in this hostel, and it is kept shiningly clean. The toilet and shower are shared by the three rooms of the floor, right in front of the rooms. There is a nice kitchen (although it lacks an oven) and there's free wi-fi, some basic food ingredients (+tea/coffee) and even free bike! It's located just a bit south of the center, 10 minutes by foot. I stayed here for two weeks (visiting the university) and I highly recommend it and I will definitely return here next year when I come to Ulm again. For a long stay (1-2 person), I would recommend asking for room #2 in the ground floor - it's a bit further from the kitchen. The wi-fi signal is ok in this room, but if that's your upper-most concern - ask for a room in the second floor.

I stayed here for two days in November.
It was hard fiding the hostel since it was in this little street(also It was dark when I got there).
Anja welcomed me and made me feel at home.
They have huge kitchen where you can have your own breakfast, free tea and coffee and they also have snack mini bar(you have to pay like 60 cents or something).
Theres toasters and refregiator and microwave so you can store foor and have something.

I stayed in one of the 4 people room. but there was only another girl in this room. It was very comftable.(good mattress and warm blankets!) the room was very warm as well.

Another PLUS is the INTERNET.
There is FREE WIFI in the hostel. In the common room on the hostel is not very good connection but in the roomis excellent!
The shower / toilettes are VERY clean as well.
I want to just live there!

The location is good too. Very quiet. Not far from the center. I walked to HBF from the hostel and it only takes about 20 min. But there is also a bus that takes straight from ULM HBF to the hostel. (number 7)

ULM is a beautiful city and it is also very close to STEIFF museum. even you are not interested in teddy bears, I highly recommend this museum. It takes you into another world!!

I was here the day that ULM weinachtsmarkt (christmas markets) were opened. It is so nice. If you come, you have to climb up the DOM! Even it is a pain!! I did!
