“Great family vacation!”
Reviewed 23 August 2013

This is a great place for a family vacation. Our apartment was perfect, bedroom, living room with small kitchen but a complete one, bathroom and very, very clean. We had everything we needed, the price was very good and the owners also very nice. Mrs Gabi gave us all the information we needed about what to visit nearby. Our daughter was also so happy to play with the rabbits in the garden, to jump on the trampoline...she enjoyed very much the playground. The only suggestion I would make is if possible to install window screens because there were a lot f mosquitos in July and had to sleep with the window closed because of them.
Wi-Fi and parking are available at no charge, a supermarket is also few minutes away. I would also like to mention about the beautiful mountain view from the garden!

Room Tip: We had apartment 4 on the top floor, but I'm sure all of them are just as beautiful as the one w...

There are 6 appartments. We had appartment 2.
The rate is very good and no extra costs for cleaning or any other things.
The appartment is big enough for 2 persons. Living room, bedroom with a double bed and a very clean bathroom. The kitchen of our appartment was complete, but quite small. Wifi and parking are for free. There is a big playground for children or just to sit and relax.
Hans and Gabi are very friendly people.
The location of this appartment is outside the city of Bad Reichenhall on a quiet street.
It is never far if you want to visit for example Inzell, Mozart city Salzburg in Austria (also possible by bus) or the Konigsee. The city center (Altstadt) of Bad Reichenhall is also worth a visit. Especcialy the Kurpark where you can walk along a wall where salt water drops fall down You get fresh air. This is good when you have rheumatism, asthma and bronchitis.
The park is a public park, no entrance fee.

Our family initially were only going to stay here for 1 night but ended up staying 2 as there was plenty to do. The accommodation isn't new but it is very quaint and functional. The accommodation had everything we needed including a kitchen/dining room. There was a trampoline and table tennis for the kids to play on a big section so they could run around. It is only a short 20-25 minute drive to Berchtesgarten where you can go out on the lake or go to Hitlers holiday home (the Eagles Nest). Unfortunately the road to Eagles Nest was still closed due to the weather and it apparently doesn't open till mid May. The owner is very helpful and informative and I would recommend.

We stayed here last July and were very pleased with the house and the area. We chose to travel without a car which does mean that you have to plan your time much better, for example there is a local bus (free with local tourist tax) over the road which goes into town, but it only leaves once an hour ( makes that every 2 hours at weekends, and stopping at 7pm every night!) and the one local shop is frequently closed.
Having said that we explored the area around Bertesgarten and up to Herrinsee and across to Salzburg by public transport without much problem as the connections for both bus and train from Bad Reichenhall itself are very good.

As for the spa town of Bad Reichenhall itself the clientele is generally pretty elderly ( being a spa town and recouprative centre) so don't expect a wild time there, we did enjoy the town though, especially the park with very good value Summer popular classical concerts in the evenings.

Gabi at the guest house was an excellent hostess and was kind enough to collect us from the train station, we kept ourselves much to ourselves but could always find her if we needed help. They also made bicycles available free of charge which was especially helpful as the house is a few miles out of town, and that shop never seemed to be open!

My wife's whole family - 14 of them in total, "took over" the Scheil Gaestehaus for a week. It wasa magical holiday amidst a most beautiful house and gardens and surrounding countryside. The Scheils are so firendly and so helpful - it made the stay just perfect. Try the local shop - great bread food and drinks and the bus to Bad Reichenhall and to Salzburg are very convenient. The fact that you have a full kitchen makes cooking easy and you can suit your own likes and tastes We will be back!

What I like about this place:
- Peaceful location not far from tourist attractions
- Big apartment with everything you need
- Big park and playground in front of the hotel (they also have rabbits!)
- The owner is very friendly and helpful

The only small complain that I can think of is that the hotel is a bit far from the main street and we have to drive through a very narrow road when we use a GPS (there is a bigger road though). The other thing is that the parking lot could be full and you may have to park on the street.
