This cosy guesthouse is located in Bad Reichenhall, germany, very close to the Austrian border and the city of Salzburg (approximately 30 min. by train, the station if 200 m from the hotel). the staff is friendly though not much present. every room has its own kitchenette, so it was not bad to have our own breakfast in the morning (a few supermarkets are close to the hotel, too). Free parking and wi-fi available.

Room Tip: room n. 16 has a stunning view over the Alps

This hotel is very clean and quiet, and the owners (the Bachmanns) truly seem to enjoy the daily work of taking care of the visitors and building. We had a beautiful panoramic view of the alps to wake up to each morning, a large room to enjoy with simple, clean rustic decor, and a big selection of bio (organic) breakfast choices to start the day.
Frau Bachmann kept checking in on us to make sure we were enjoying our trip and had all the info we needed to get out to where we wanted to go each day. Bad Reichenhall is so close to both Berchtesgaden and Salzburg we chose it as a great launching point for both. Plus, the town is centered around a Kurpark (spa park) and makes for a delightful stroll (the park is 1 block from the hotel).
The hosts are very devout in a friendly, welcoming sort of way, and I think fellow Catholic visitors would really enjoy themselves here and feel at home. We're not even Christian, but felt fine.
Don'te expect luxury though - the Hansi is more intimate, simple, and friendly than luxe.
Bad Reichenhall itself is very popular with older Germans "taking the cure".

All I can say is that the owners are wonderful, looking to make your stay as comfortable as possible. I decided to try to learn some German before the trip. They were great at teaching me some more, but were more than happy to rescue me with English when I was way over my head. I would stay there in a heartbeat again.

This is a wonderful pensione located in a residential district about a block from the train station. It is family run by the Bachmanns, and they are very attentive and pleasant hosts. We had a room on the third floor with terrific views of the surrounding Alps. The weather was so nice, we slept with the windows open. There was no noise problem as the house is located in a quiet residential area. The room was large and clean.

There are several restaurant and beer garden choices within walking distance. The town itself is charming, but we spent most of our time about an hour away at Lake Konigsee and Jenner Mountain. We got there very efficiently by bus.

The negatives: The bathroom was a bit dated, but clean. Breakfast in the morning was buffet style, and I found it a bit lacking. Lots of cheeses and meats. The lift was very small, which seems typical of hotels in Germany. When we left, Willy Bachman was fixing a bike tire for one of the guests. He stopped long enough to say goodbye and to ask us to return soon. Just a small example of their service.
