We recommend visiting here together with a visit to the Eagles Nest . This is an exceptional museum , presenting the history of why and how the NAZIS came to power , the establishment of Obersalzberg as it's second seat of government , the atrocities and the course of the WWII . The English audio guide was excellent but it is such a terrible part of recent history that the information and visuals couldn't fall to sadden and overwhelm as we went through the museum . We did nt watch the videos and moved more quickly through the latter parts of the museum but to our surprise found we had been in the museum over two hours . It was good to be able to sit outside (there is also a large cafe/restaurant next door) and contemplate the beautiful woods and mountains before catching the bus back to Berchtesgaden.
