“Friendly and cosy”

A very pleasant family run hotel just a few minutes walk from the centre. Friendly staff and comfortable room. Went for a week half board and choice of dinner was a little limited, and also had to be ordered at the breakfast time, but food was well presented and tastey, Omerammergau itself offers a number of good restaurants. Overall a very relaxing week in a nice small hotel atmosphere.

Room Tip: There are 2 buildings joined together and our room was in the rear building furthest from the road...

Stayed here for a week while at a conference at the NATO school and was very pleased. The room was clean and large, bed was comfortable. Breakfast was adequate...not huge, but everything I need: eggs made to order, fruit, yogurt, cereal, cheese, etc. the restaurant has a good menu and good chef. I ate there every night. It's typical German food at a reasonable price.
Location is good, not a far walk to the town center.
The owners, both the husband and wife, are very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make my stay enjoyable. She even found some elastics for me. I'd recommend this place!

Just out of the centre, but Oberammergau is compact and access to buses and trains is fine. We spent a week here on a walking holiday. Our double room, at the front of the hotel, was clean, simple and we'll equipped, although we had to close the windows to sleep because of noise from the busy road. The food was well prepared, but a little plain. Breakfast is simple. The bar and restaurant lack atmosphere, and the piped music does little to improve this. The chef and other staff are friendly and helpful, but the landlady really let's the side down. Her mood changes dramatically and she can be rude, sufficiently so to make us actually feel uncomfortable on some occasions.

Room Tip: Choose a room in the rear of the hotel.

The hotel is basic but very clean. The location is good at just a five minute walk to the centre of the town. Food is good and very reasonable. The bar sits in a hallway lacks any sort of atmosphere. The breakfast is nice, but again basic and is not worth the price charged for B&B.

I would stay again if it weren't for the Land Lady who is perhaps the rudest woman I have ever met. She snaps at you particularly in the mornings and makes a big deal out of any request, at times I actually felt like an inconvenience to her despite leaving a considerable amount of money after a two week stay. I would consider other hotels in Oberammergau on the basis of this.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel. the rooms at the front overlook a very busy street.

We booked direct with the hotel making use of the speical offer for Half-board, which saved a lot of money compared to booking through some travel companies. We opted for a deluxe room in House 3 which was really lovely; a dining and sitting area, well equipped kitchen, large bathroom and balconies on 2 sides of the room. It was lovely to sit out in the early evening. The room has to be one of the cleanest I have ever stayed in, it was impeccably presented. Meals are taken in the main building just across the road. Breakfast was the usual buffet. The evening meal followed the same pattern each night, a salad starter followed bysoup (both different each night) and then a choice of 2 main courses ending with a dessert. The quality of the meal was excellent. There is a very small bar area where you can get pre-dinner drinks at a very reasonable price, 2.90 euros a large beer or 4 euros for a large glass of house wine. Staff were very helpful throughout our stay. They all spoke good English. The hotel is a few minutes walk from the centre of town which means it is lovely and quiet without being too far away to pop in for an ice-cream. You can ask for the guest card (free) which gets you free use of local buses, so if you do not have a car you can still get to all of the main sites for walking, cycling or culture. I highly recommend this hotel, it is excellent value.
