“Luxury hotel for a budget price...”
Reviewed 22 May 2014

We stayed here for 3 nights as we were touring the area and from the moment we arrived, this grand hotel had the wow factor. Very grand with stunning views from the terrace.

Reception was welcoming and the swimming pool and sauna an added bonus after a long day! Breakfast was included in our room price and was amazing. Continental meats/cheeses, cereals, breads, hot items (sausage, egg, mushrooms and tomatoes), jams, juices and even cake! The bed was firm but comfortable and although, there is free wi-fi in the hotel, our room was a little lacking and you had to stand in a certain place to get it!

I agree with other reviews that the lift is VERY small and our room was a little dated but everything was clean and rooms were large. The other couple in our party had a fridge and full sized bath in their room but strangely, our room didn't! (Next door to each other)

Overall, a landmark hotel for an amazing price. I looked forward to going back every day after our travels.

The views are stunning from the terrace and you can see the Olympic ski run on a clear day, the hotel is very grand looking, a little out of town but the bus passes regularly if you don't have a car.
Reception is grand with a very modern feel, this continues into the lounge and bar area.

The swimming pool, sauna and gym are very nice and with plenty of sun loungers and seating you could spend longer here than intended. Breakfast was amazing and the choice endless, excellent quality with no compromise whatsoever. We didn't eat in the restaurant as it looked a la carte and quite expensive.

On arrival you get a GaPa card which gives you discount of some attractions in town, don't forget you have a mandatory fee of €2 pp per day to pay at the end of the stay for tax.

we had 2 rooms next to each other and they both were very different, not only in size but facilities.
The beds were very comfortable, pillows a little flat but you could chose to have a different one if you wished. The bathroom was clean and functional, tiling was a little dated and the toilet roll cover kept falling off and the lights had a mind of their own. It would have been nice to have hot drink facilities, one afternoon there was a tea station in reception bit we never saw it again?

The staff happy and helpful and with free wifi made this a lovely location to stay at. If we stayed in. GaPa again we may stay close to Partenkirchen as we enjoyed it there more than Garmisch.

We had an octagonal shaped room with many windows overlooking the mountains. Beautiful views and excellent customer service. The best hotel we stayed so far in our Germany, Austria, Switzerland trip. Clean, comfortable beds with large sitting area, 2 desks, wardrobe and spacious bathroom. Quiet and peaceful location - a perfect spot to unwind after a hectic European tour!

Room Tip: Request a larger room with separate sitting area. They have different configurations.

We stayed 2 nights at the hotel. The hotel is very clean and the service was amazing. The lady at the front desk, in the evening, had incredible customer service and filled us in on everything. The pool area is nice and perfect after a day of skiing. The rooms were good size and had comfy beds. The only thing is the bathroom ( room 220) needed some TLC. It had some chipped tiles and was a bit dated, but still very clean. We really enjoyed the breakfast and the service at breakfast. Overall great hotel.

This hotel will leave you feeling a bit like royalty. Though it is located a driving distance from city center (few minutes), the accommodations are very impressive: big bedroom and bathroom, plenty of storage space and a safe. Room's design is quite fancy (as can be seen by photos attached).

Breakfast was great each day, with a wide & fresh verity. If it's a sunny day (and even if it is not) - go to the porch to eat your breakfast. The view of the Zugspitze is adorable.

Swimming pool area, which includes a sauna too, was open until quite late in the evening.

Hotel staff was very pleasant and calm through our stay.

Room Tip: You have 2 main options: the view to the adjacent mountain (and parking) or to the city (and ugspitz...

We went to this hotel for just an overnight stay so that we could travel to see the Zugspitz and Partnachklamm gorge which are both easily accessible from this hotel. The view is definitely one of the most spectacular hotel room views I've every had. The hotel is an older hotel but it is well kept. The rooms were very big and fairly comfortable - bar the pillows but there was a special pillow menu which we should have availed of! We had a room over the bar but there was no noise of disturbance from it maybe due to to the time of year, due to the fact that it was too cold to sit outside although this maybe annoying in the summer months. The breakfast was very tasty. And staff were very friendly and helpful. Also has a handy wall which gives maps of the walking trails available close by which I thought was a nice touch. We had dinner in the restaurant which was tasty, service was a little slow but all in all a very nice little hotel. Small thing to note this hotel takes a small additional fee of €4 per room for our one night stay as a kind of tax I think.

Room Tip: take advantage of the pillow menu!

We arrived here after a very long drive… so we were absolutely tired.

First impression was very bad. Arrived at reception and the woman seemed a little unfriendly. Needed the usual information i.e.. credit card number, which when it was being completed on the form she went to serve another couple and left us standing for about 20 minutes with the finished form. They too were checking in and had 101 questions. Think she should have told them to wait their turn or to begin completing forms while she finished checking us in… or get more staff!

We booked and paid for two double deluxe rooms. They then tried to fob us off with one single. I don't mind sleeping in a single but if I'm staying for 5 nights, which was the plan, I want space and want what I've paid for. So I had to question this… to which the same girl seemed a little put and brought a male colleague to deal with me. He wasn't apologetic just tried to tell me that the hotel was busy… which is not my problem. I'd booked and paid in advance.

I was given a double room, which cost the same as the first. However, the second room had complimentary water, fruit and chocolates but the first didn't. I feel bad when I moan about little things like this… but if both rooms were deluxe and cost the same… why not the same complimentary arrival gift. So I asked…. the answer in short was that they were in the room by accident because we had swapped rooms. Gift intended for someone else. Lucky me you could say. But this hacks me off a little because the way he phrased it was … the gift was for clients paying the full rate. Same deluxe room etc etc.. But my argument would be that if you want to attract customers… then all guests upgrading to these rooms should get the same treatment regardless of where they purchased the room. We got ours from Expedia and hence, it was clear that the gift was not intended for such guests. Then why sell on Expedia… surely such welcoming gifts are more likely to make the person rebook direct!?

As for the second room didn't even have a complimentary bottle of water and the mini bar had been emptied!!!??? But they take your credit card details for such things don't they!?

The room, 2nd impression was dirty and dated. Needed water too… surely this is a necessity for travellers!!!!??? Pubic hair on toilet…. the kind of bath you really don't want to get into because all brown marks on side where tap had dripped. Huge room with an amazing view… but not central to town and on the road side, so better hotels in the centre I think.

However, the Peacock bar and restaurant was a pleasant surprise and the 3rd impression later that first day. A very pleasant and friendly American girl serves in the bar…. really really nice and very welcoming. A very modern bar with cool music, comfortable chairs etc A surprise considering how dated the bedrooms are!

As for the gym… it was smaller than my bedroom. Not very inspiring. This needs to be better for those of us who don't ski.

Only ate breakfast here… it was okay. Plenty of choice.

Left after two nights.
