We had a very bad experience at the Edelweiss. Upon our arrival, they said they did not have our reservations (we were with another couple), then found ours, but not theirs which was very odd as she had made the reservations and used her credit card! When we got to our room, it was warm and stuffy and we could not find the a/c switch, so I called the desk and asked. The woman who answered told me they had no air conditioning, but that there was a fan in the room (this was late September). Being stunned that a fairly new lodge wouldn't have been built without central air, I asked why and was told that it was against the German law. Thinking that was odd, I asked someone else the next day and they said it was NOT against a German law, but they didn't need air there. They definitely need air!! The first evening there, we had to eat at the restaurant in the basement. It was very loud due to all the children there. It was not an evening dining experience by any stretch of the imagination. We have kids and grandkids, but they know how to behave when out in public. Many of these children did not. We ate the rest of our meals in town and found many wonderful restaurants. Kids were everywhere at the lodge and we couldn't get away from them to have some quiet, adult time. We even started eating our breakfast out in the hall where there were a few tables to get away from all the noise and drama that was going on. We would not stay there again and unless you have kids with you, this is not a place for adults who enjoy being with and doing adult things. We even took to sitting outside the basement restaurant where there were a few chairs when we would have a drink later at night. The Pullman Restaurant was not open except on weekends. We had been told that was a very nice restaurant. The food for both the breakfast and basement restaurant was passable, but not that great. They also "lost" all 4 of our reservations for the trip to Munich for October Fest. We did have two very helpful people there, but many of the staff need to be trained to do a better job.

Sorry that your stay didn't meet your expectations. You are correct, we do not have air conditioning. It isn't against German law as someone explained to you, it is just because you only need it a few days a year at most. Otherwise, just open the window and get that fresh mountain air. We recently went non smoking (balconies included) so opening the window is a quick solution. We are a family friendly resort but if you travel outside of school holidays, it is never an issue. We hope you will stay with us another time.

I stayed at the Edelweiss Lodge in August and really loved it. It's a comfortable resort with a beautiful view in the best part of the German Countryside. The trips were well planned and executed and the staff were all friendly and helpful. Our trip coordinators Jake and Inga were especially great. The only thing keeping it from a 5 star for me was the food. The food was mediocre and the menus need to be updated. The trend today is ethnic and healthy. It was just to American for my taste.

Like the heading says - if it wasn't so pricey it would be perfect. The room price is very steep - and, unlike most German accomodations, it does not include breakfast. The restaurants weren't all that great either - you can get much better food, at much more reasonable prices in town. One thing the Edelweiss scores points in is definately the atmosphere - very well appointed decor and nice rooms. Activities for the kids are good as well. Staff mostly friendly. Worth a stay for the atmosphere, but with a little planning ahead a stay at a local German hotel only costs half as much.

The staf was very nice and helpful. We sspent our son's Birthday here and the people at Starbucks helped us get some cupcake to ccelebrate. The staff at the Hausberg sport lodge went the extra mile to help get us into a ski class, after we showed up right as the regular class was starting. Thanks to the manager and our ski instructor, Justin. I will definitely let people know about our experience.

My family have stayed here many times since 2006. Why? Because every single time it was PERFECT! the scenery of the area, as well as the lodge itself, are beautiful. The service is great. The rooms are very clean and spacious. The buffets have everything on them and are delicious. Zuggys bar is a nice place to end the night with its karaoke and good food and drinks. My kids love the pool and spa. And going up to the moutains during winter time is amazing!
There is nothing wrong with this place. All the tours are good, the city of Garmish is lovely with is shops and restaurants. And Munich is not too far away.
I am no longer in Germany, and this is one of the places I miss the most! why? because its PERFECT!

We have been staying here for the last ten years. I was disappointed that so many things are not open but we came at an off time. We were there for Veterans weekend and glad to see the buffet opened for at least Friday, Sat and Sunday night. The fireworks display was good. We want to give a thanks to Mary Kay and her great tour to the brewery. It was a very fun night and she told us things that we didn't know after so many visits on the van ride to the brewery. Great diner there also.

We spent two weeks in late October and early November at the Edelweiss Hotel. The hotel/lodge, located at the foot of the Alps, is beautifully decorated in Bavarian style. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and clean. Our room had a balcony with a breathtaking view of the mountains. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our evening at the bar/restaurant ‘Zuggys’; also enjoyed the generous buffet breakfast at another restaurant. The souvenir shop has items that are reasonably priced, and there is a snack shop with food and beverages packed to go. The hotel has an exercise room and pool. The staff was getting ready for a large group of ski instructors to arrive for the busy ski season. The charming town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen is just a few minutes drive and is filled with quaint shops, great restaurants, and cafes. Castles, historically rich towns, and hiking paths are a short drive away. This is a great place for military families to stay.
