Hotel Aschenbrenner
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 25 September 2011

We stayed at the Hotel Aschenbrenner for a few days in early November 2010. The hotel is lovely - very German! Our room was very small but it was just two of us and we spent most of our time sightseeing. (The only reason for 4 stars out of 5.) It's a short walk to the Walkplatz and away from the traffic noise. Breakfast was wonderful and the staff made everyone feel welcome. Will definitely stay here again!

The hotel is the home of a former Duke and offers an interesting place to stay. Our room was large, spotlessly clean and well appointed. Breakfast was excellent with an interesting range of food served buffet style.

The hotel is within an easy walk of the centre and there are many restaurants nearby. It is a long walk from the railways station and a taxi is the preferred option if arriving by train.

Initially the reception seemed very cool, but the room was excellent for our family of 4 and the breakfast was excellent. It is a bit of a walk to the main center of the city - it took us a day to get oriented, would recommend a taxi with luggage. However, the nights were quiet and we were away from the hubbub of tourists. A restaurant with ethnic Bavarian food is around the corner and a bubbling stream with trout (I believe) is just across the street. Once the home of a prince shown by beautiful woodwork in breakfast room added charm to the stay.

The hotel is reasonably priced and located near the city center. Most rooms seem to be large and are of relatively good standard relative to the price. What makes this a very nice hotel is the fantastic breakfast.

We paid extra for the larger room with balcony and mountain view, well worth the money for 5 nights for us retired travelers. Very quiet, across from a river. Just three minutes walk to pedestrian street and 15 to train , got cheap Bayern pass there to Munich and trolleys. Superb breakfast and cheerful staff. All no -smoking rooms, inexpensive wi fi. Tiny but new bathrooms in old high celinged rooms with two beds. Will stay again. Helpful bi-ligual staff, Hans was great.

Stayed 3 nights in March. Cozy B&B with a wonderful staff. Karen helped us with all of our needs (we had several!!). Nice breakfast in the morning. Clean and cozy rooms (on the small side) with very comfortable beds. Within walking distance of town. Some rooms have beautiful views of the mountains. Enjoyed our stay. . .would stay there again.
