There were very few interactive museum displays but wow LOTS of reading. The audio information was good but lots of it too...almost too much. However it was good for its history of Bavaria.

Must see the Dish Room.

Visited the museum after touring the two nearby castles. Though we were exhausted after visiting the castles (with a fair amount of moderate to strenuous walking involved), we decided to visit the museum, mostly because we had bought combination tickets which included the museum. In hindsight I wish we'd only bought tickets for the castles and skipped the museum, not because it isn't an interesting museum- it has great exhibits - but we were just too worn-out to appreciate it.
If you are really into history involving the Bavarian Monarchy, this is a must see. I learned quite a bit, exhausted though I was. This is not in the same league as, say, the crown jewels at the Tower of London, or the Scottish equivalent in Edinburgh, but it does have some nice artifacts on display, and a good primer on the history of the Bavarian kings.
Overall, nice stop if you're into this sort of thing, otherwise you'll find the entrance price probably not worth it.

I am sure this would be fascinating to anyone who wanted to know more about Bavarian kings, but only if they speak German. I found it rather hard going! The costumes that belonged to Ludwig II were the high point for me, especially his coronation robe.

Pleasant visit to the museum, great wealth of information inside and brilliant stuff on display. Must be visited along with the castles.

We purchased a combination ticket that gave us access to this Museum. It is very modern and well appointed. It is not huge and can be done at your ow pace. Beautiful pieces and a very detailed family history.
