“Wonderful View, Beautiful Hotel!”
Reviewed 13 October 2013

Loved my stay here! Our deck looked right out to Neuschwanstein castle, and the hotel is somewhat on the edge of the "busy section" so it's quieter than the other selections :) The hotel staff gave us all of the "instructions" we needed to catch a horse drawn carriage ride out to the castle, and the hotel stay came with a discount at a local restaurant! There's also a private parking garage underneath the beautiful homey hotel with easy access.

Wonderful spot to stay, although not a full hotel as their is no dinner service. We didn't mind as there were a couple of options nearby. The parking is secure and underground, the rooms are clean and spacious, great bath...(rare in europe) and incredibly helpful staff. Breakfast was perfect!
Sabina is so helpful.. we recommend this spot to stay for sure..

Can't say enough good things about this hotel. It started when my friend and I arrive late to the hotel. We were put in the "Romantic" suite, but then changed to another normal room. The room was huge, beds were a little firm for my American preference but we're ok. The bathrooms were spacious and clean with nice appointments. Underground parking was nice also & led straight up to the room with an elevator.
Hotel receptionists were so helpful it was like having our own concierge. They made reservations at the restaurants & booked our castle tours & had the tickets picked up and hand delivered which was a HUGE plus after seeing the loooong lines at the ticket building.
The breakfast was amazing! They had bacon & eggs which is hard to find in a European hotel buffet. A wide array of breakfast items and fresh juices.
In the evening they serve wine and beer along with light drink snacks. You can sit in the elegant dining area or on their very nice patio with a view of castle.
Location couldn't be any better! We were at the base of the Neuschwanstein castle & just outside of the main restaurant/hotel zone in Hohenschwangau which was nice considering this area gets mobbed during the afternoons but becomes a ghost town during the evenings.
They have a sister-hotel/restaurant nearby (see Alpenstuben review) for dinner.
The rates are a little higher than most hotels in the area but all things considered, it's the best value for the area if you take into account location, service and room quality.

What an amazing place. We stayed here for two nights and loved every minute. From the moment we arrived, Cindy at reception made our stay one of the best experiences we could have wished for. She provided advice on restaurants, arranged Castle tickets, and gave us tips on exploring some "local knowledge" places. The room (104) was roomy and finished to a very high standard, with quality bed linen and manchester. Parking was directly under the hotel and access was available via a lift. The village and all its attractions were only 3-5 minutes walk away, and the best restaurant (beside the lake) was less than a 10 minute stroll. We dined there both nights. Breakfast was superb quality and included in the price. Our room even had a view of Neuschwanstein Castle - we couldn't fault this place.

We recently stayed at Villa Ludwig with our two children. Beautiful new rooms with fabulous view of Neuschwanstein Castle. Underground garage. Convenient location to Castles. Staff extremely friendly and helpful (they will arranged your castle tour tickets to avoid long lines). Full morning breakfast and afternoon tea. We would definitely return.

We booked two rooms. On arrival the hotel told us that one had been upgraded so that we could have rooms next to each other (one for the kids and one for us). This was very nice and I am glad that they did, otherwise we might have found the rooms a bit small. So I would pay attention to what rooms are booked. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant but can make recommendations, including to their sister hotel. They provide a very nice "tea time" from 2 to 5pm when tea, coffee and cakes is freely offered. Breakfast is a nice buffet with essentially all that is needed. The hotel is excellently located just 5-10 minutes walk from the ticket office. The hotel will arrange tickets for you (though I recommend booking in advance). The hotel is gleaming new and has a very modern style, with some funky twists - bathroom in front of the castle view window, twinkly lights in the ceiling, lots of velvet cushions etc, wardrobe space was great and the bathroom facilities were excellent. If you want trad Bavaria this is NOT for you, but if you like modern and boutique, this is excellent. The only word of warning - the reason this is not 5 star is because certain of the services aren't 24 hour (restaurant, room service etc, there is no luggage porter). We had a small issue with the electronic entry to our door, and you have to accept that this doesn't get fixed like in a Four Seasons. But, in general terms, the service and facilities were excellent and we would thoroughly recommend it. Lovely.

Room Tip: It is worth paying attention to what room you will get, including maybe ringing the hotel in advance...
