“Good Ocktoberfest value”
Reviewed 12 September 2011

We stayed here while visiting Munich for Oktoberfest.

The hotel is within walking distance of the festival and provides a safe and clean place to pass out after a full day of fun. The room is nothing spectacular but offers a clean place in a safe part of town.

If your just looking for value while in town for the party, cant go wrong here.

We stayed in this hotel for two nights. At check in the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was nice, good size, clean and comfy bed. Bathroom was very small. Shower was tiny! But we managed. We got a room on the front of the hotel so we had noise all night - there is a lot of traffic on this road. If you stay here make sure to request a room at the back. Location seemed a bit dodgy, but it was very close to the train station and also very handy to get to all the sights.

Strange thing as well on both nights we were there the room two doors down from us had their door wide open but the person in the room was asleep in bed. weird.

This hotel is ok for a couple of nights but I would stay somewhere else for a longer stay.

On checking out we asked the guy at reception if he could advise us of a laundrette close by and he very helpfully told us we could use the washing machines and dryers downstairs in the hotel. And due to the very hot weather he also didn't charge us for the two beers from the minibar. nice guesture.

Room Tip: request a room at the back

At first glance from the outside and at reception the hotel doesn't look very appealing, however we were delighted with everything. The rooms have been renovated and we were lucky to have one at the back so there was no noise (the hotel is on a busy street). The room was large with a kitchenette (which we didn't use but would have been useful for a longer stay). The bathroom is tiny, but again, didn't bother us. Everyone we dealt with at reception went out of their way to be helpful and reacted immediately to any qustions or problems. There is a large parking garage across the street and if you don't move your car during the day, the price for 24 hours is EUR 10 instead of EUR 25. We didn't take breakfast in the hotel restaurant (Italian on the street) but there are several coffee shops within a 8-10 minute walk. The main station and underground is a short walk away as is the stop for the hop on-hop off bus which we took for 2 days. The old city centre is about 15 minutes walk away.

We stayed one night in this hotel before our train left... it was a very clean and modern room, which was nice. The free WiFi was an excellent addition to the hotel! Close to the train station and some of the main attractions in Munich. The area seemed like it could get a little sketchy after dark... but was great during the days at least. We had a bad experience at the pizza restaurant which was technically part of the hotel... but the hotel itself was fine.

My wife and I have recently stayed at the Via Vadi Hotel in Munich for the second time in three weeks and once again this hotel was excellent.

After touring Bavaria for three weeks we returned our hire car to the Europcar depot in Marsstrasse and then walked the two minutes to the Hotel Via Vadi.

At the hotel the reception staff were as helpful as previously and went out of their way to enable us to check into our room two hours ahead of normal check in time. The young guy from reception came up to our room to do a quality check of the cleaning standard and then assisted me to bring my wife and my suitcases up to the room.

As per our last stay our room was quiet, facing away from the street, on the sixth floor and came with a desk, free broadband and a small kitchenette with refrigerator, two burner stove and microwave. On this visit we asked why a kitchen and no cooking equipment and were informed that previous guests had left the kitchen an cooking utensils in such an awful condition that cooking utensils are now available on request with a small deposit required.

This hotel provides excellent accommodation at an affordable price and in a great location.

We spent one night at the hotel and then caught the early morning TGV to Paris from the nearby Munich main railway station.

I must admit that reclining in the comfort of a first class carriage as ones train accelerates to well over 200 kilometres an hour is quite an experience.

While travelling to Austria, I was looking for a hotel in Munich for me and my family for just one night, and as I was in a hurry while I was booking, I almost took the first in the list - which was Vi Vadi.

The hotel is not too expensive (but still not cheap), rather well located with regard to the various places to see - but has an urgent need for restoration (not true for all rooms, but very true for the commons and some rooms). A stay for one, two nights may be OK, but I'd not try to seduce the future women of my life at this place ;-).
