“Find yourself a better place”

This "hotel" (it is actually a hostel) has two good things: the room was big and clean. Now the list of what should make you think twice before booking here:

- worst check-in ever. Hall crowded with loud teenagers, someone making a scandal because the staff left her things at the hall unattended (I guess they were supposed to have kept it somewhere at her request, as many hostels do), only two clearly overloaded (though friendly) employees to take care of the big check-in line and other demands that appeared all the time.

- security may be an issue: the receptionist gave me by accident (they are CLEARLY overloaded, as I said) a key to the wrong room, which contained other people's personal belongings.

- the internet reminds me the internet from the 90's. It is too slow even to open the e-mail sometimes.

- the temperature in the shower ranged from almost boiling hot to cold in a matter of seconds (in the middle of my shower).

- the hotel is at the intersection of two busy streets, and the noise from the cars and buses was terrible.

Room Tip: Go to another place.

We showed up after 6pm and had our rooms given away. Needless to say we were out on the street and the member of staff laughed at our misfortune. Never been so shocked in my life! DO NO GO HERE. After a few hours of struggling and arguing we sorted out a room at the a&o so there was room after all. Rooms were actually okay and not too loud nightlife.

Ended up here on a stag do in early July 2014 and don't have a single bad thing to say about the place. The staff were all pleasant, the rooms were clean. And despite it being rather busy, it was relatively quiet and was able to sleep well. What more can you ask for?

The place has two bars, one on the ground floor as you walk in and one on the fifth I believe (ground floor seems to close earlier than the beer garden upstairs), both of which are quite reasonably priced. We ended up arriving during the World Cup so got to experience the most excitable Brazilian girl I've ever seen enjoy her team beat Columbia. Good atmosphere that evening.

I'm loathed to say anything bad on the location of the place given how damn good the public transport is in Germany, it's about 10 minutes walk from the U-Bahn stations and you can easily walk into the centre if it's a nice day.

We paid extra for the breakfast and it was nice and would recommend.

We stayed here for the recent champions league fixture.
The accommodation was very good and reasonably priced for our budget. The staff speak perfect English and will offer a card for you to offer to taxi drivers later in the day.
Located near the main station and easy to find

The rooms are new! I thought because of other poor reviews that this was going to be terrible but everything felt new! The bathroom was pretty nice. The only two bad things are that you have to pay in order to get good wifi (but there is a free option) and the reception is small and understaffed. Great location in front of the cable car stop.

As I arrived with a big smile, I was welcomed obnoxiously by the reception manager called Janine who probably drinks vinegar every morning. The more we were going into the check-in process, the more she was getting unfriendly. Finally she refused that I use my own bed sheets because they don't meet the standards of the hotel. Fair enough but paying 3 additional Euros for a bed in a dorm that cost already 22€ in a HOSTEL, I find it abusive.
But the worst was when the day after, I came back in the afternoon in the room and my bed had been cleaned by the staff. Which would have been fine if they did not take away my book and the food and water I left on the bed. I went to the reception, explained what happened to Janine, who replied sarcastically "what do you want me to do about it" ?
Maybe the cleaner did not realise I was still staying there (despite the pad lock on the locker right next to the bed) and threw away everything by mistake. It can happen and I can understand that, but the attitude I was facing was just too negative. An apology and a little compensation would have been nice.

I stayed here in August 2013 with my Top Deck group.

The room I was in with 3 other guys was comfortable.

The reception area was quite spacious, which was good when you had a bus load of tourists with their luggage arrive.

The cafe area for meals was nice and the food on offer was decent.
