Description: Situated directly by the Frauenkirche in the heart of Munich, this restaurant has been in family hands for many generations and offers everything you would typically associate with Munich and Bavarian hospitality. Whether it is for a quick break or a more substantial meal such as shank with dumplings, you will find value for money here. As a particularly unique feature, Tarte Flambée with a variety of fillings is served at 16:30. Another feature unveils itself in the summer, when you can sit at tables on the street and watch the hustle and bustle pass by. Because of this enviable position in the middle of the city, the Augustiner am Dom is an ideal stopping point on your shopping trip, great for regaining your energy! With lots of smaller and larger rooms, not to mention its beer garden in the inner courtyard, the restaurant can accommodate all kinds of events.

“delicous beer and tasteless food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 December 2013

thursday's evening, a lot of people at Weinachtsmarkt and we wanted to sit in a cosy and typical german gasthaus. the waiter didn't know much english, but he was friendly and efficient. we ordered Laberkase and goulash with knodel... that was a disaster. firstly, the meals came from mikrowave (this is not possible to get your order after 2 minutes!) and after couple of minutes they got cold. secondly, the goulash and potatoe salad were too salty, so we had to leave them. The main advantage is beer, really delicious - and im not fan of beer.
the place is cosy and looks german.
If you're going to visit the place, stay only with beer. If you want to have tasty meal, go somewhere else.

“ Great pork knuckle!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 December 2013 via mobile

This restaurant/pub has a lovely hidden location, which means it is not insanely busy like a lot of other restaurants, although the food and beer is still top notch. Had mixed sausage plate there with delicious hot sort of mash potato and sauerkraut; and a pork knuckle which was very tender (much better than pork knuckle at another place). The beer was fantastic like in any of the Augustiner pubs. Service was fast and friendly. Were surrounded by locals. One of the tables had an elderly couple wearing the traditional Tirol hats with feathers. Excellent place overall!

Went twice to this restaurant, i found the staff friendly and very efficient. The mushroom soup was out of this world :) so tasty, and also the roast pork knuckle and potato dumpling were lovely.
If i go to Munich again i will go back for sure :)

“Terrible Service”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 December 2013

This review should be scored 1 star but since the beer and potato salad was good I'll rate 2 stars. We were overlooked all evening since staff was stretched thin. When we finally ordered the main course after complaining of the lack of service, the dish arrived 3 minutes later. It was possibly an extra meal that was given to us since my schnitzel was burned. I had no chance to complain since the staff ignored are presence. I finally did complain when the bill was delivered and showed the schnitzel to the waiter which was uneaten. He (Martin, Waiter) laughed and stated "this is what happens when we our busy". No offer to get me something else, refund on the bill or even a free beer. I've been to many Munich restaurants throughout the years but avoid this one at all costs. Even the Hofbrauhaus offers better food quality and service and they feed thousands of people per day.

“Food was good but not the service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013 via mobile

We went there before noon and the restaurant was empty. Waiters were at best curt. Food was good but for that price I expect more. I guess the taste was mainly marred by the lack of service.
