Ibis Muenchen City West
Ranked #79 of 389 Hotels in Munich
Reviewed 17 December 2013

We were looking for somewhere cheap and cheerful to stay for our one-night stay in Munich for the Christmas markets. After searching the reviews on Trip Advisor, we came across the Ibis West. We managed to get a fantastic rate through one of the popular hotel search engines and got a double room INCLUDING breakfast for £68. Not each, the entire room. Bargain. The hotel is in a very quiet part of town and is literally right next door to a U-Bahn stop meaning you can be on the Marienplatz in 10-15 minutes.

The reception staff were friendly and polite and spoke exceptional English.

The room was warm, quiet and very clean. The bathroom, although very clean and perfectly functional, was a little strange - it was almost like a portaloo (portabathroom!) - a sort of plastic, self enclosed room containing the shower, loo and sink. A bit strange, but perfectly fine.

The breakfast was fantastic - really delicious and plenty of choice for a continental breakfast. The restaurant also had a lunch/evening meal menu and bar menu that was very reasonable with plenty of choice.

My ONLY grumble with the hotel was that there were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, and no minibar so make sure you take a bottle of water (or whatever) with you to your room in case you get thirsty in the night.

To summarise, this is really great hotel and other than the lack of a morning cuppa, I have nothing whatsoever to complain about. I'd definitely stay here again in a heartbeat.

This is a very typical Ibis location, meaning the bed is comfortable, the breakfast is good, Wi-fi is in the rooms for a fee, and it is clean. The location is nothing special, but the Underground is right in front and connects you easily to the city. There is reasonably priced parking on-site. I recommend if you are looking for a simple, comfortable place to simply sleep at. If you are considering for Oktoberfest - this hotel is on the line with the Wiesn stop, but further from the Hauptbahnhof (main train station). This is a great thing, meaning you are not on the train with the majority of people!

Can't find much fault with this hotel. Not much round about but next door to Westendtrasse underground and only 5/6 stops to main centre. Bar prices ok for hotel. Didn't pay the 10 euros for breakfast at hotel but went 5 minutes round the corner to a Lidl which had a small coffee shop/bakery attached which did me fine. Recommended.

We stayed in a couple different IBIS budget hotels while traveling through Europe and I was happy with each and every one of them. The rooms were always clean and tidy, the breakfast was delicious and had a variety of offerings, the staff was informative, and the locations were all decent (although some were definitely better than others).
This particular IBIS had a very nice lounge area that doubled as a restaurant/bar. The food at the restaurant was good, but a little bit pricey. I often walked to the convenience store attached to the gas station right next door for a quick bite to eat just to save some money. This store also had a good selection of Ritter’s chocolate with a variety of flavors I had not seen before (just FYI).
The location of this was good, a bit removed from the city center but close enough to the metro that it was not a huge hindrance.
Wi-fi was free in the lobby but cost extra to be given access to inside the individual rooms, which was a bit frustrating. The wi-fi in the lobby was a bit spotty and its speed would greatly fluctuate based on the amount of people using it. On the bright side, it did force me to socialize a bit more, since I couldn’t hide up in my room if I needed the internet, so I did meet some very nice people in the lobby area.
Other than that, not much to report. This chain has been a solid and consistent example of good service, clean rooms and simple accommodations. I would recommend these hotels for anyone on a budget who does not want to sacrifice quality or run the risk of ending up in a less-than-welcoming neighborhood (sure many hostels would be cheaper, but you run the risk of staying in some potentially scary places!).

I stayed here for two nights with friends. The hotel was easy to find and the car parking well priced. Check in was swift and easy. The room was a standard Ibis room, very clean and modern. We had a few drinks in the bar in the evening, and found breakfast to be good quality. There is an underground station right by the hotel so its easy to get into the city centre. You can buy tickets from reception, you just need to validate it at the station. There is a garage/petrol station next door if you need to buy snacks etc. Overall, a very good example of an Ibis.
