“Small and Friendly”
Reviewed 28 July 2013

A charming little hotel, ideally located in a lively part of Munich. Close to many bars restaurants and transport links. Bit plain on the outside but the welcome on the inside more than makes up. The ambiance and relaxing décor after a days travelling is a treat. Seemed more like staying with friends rather than in a hotel.
The staff cannot do too much for you. A wealth of local tips where to go, where to eat etc. etc. Didn't notice the cooking smells or feel the lack of air con moaned about by others and we were there on a beautiful hot weekend. The breakfast mentioned by others is a great start to the day, Everything so fresh and so much to choose from.
A rate of £150 a night didn't seem bad for a stay near the heart of Munich, if you want cheap and bland stick to the big chains. Overall a delightful stay and would visit again.

Room Tip: Room 402 good size , great shower

The hotel is very central and close to the park. Breakfast is really nice and there is a good choice of quality food. It has been recently refurbished, but still there are some things that don't work ad they should. There is no air conditioning and the hotel is located on a chinese restaurant, wich makes it impossibile to open the window for a bid of air as there is a very bad smell coming from the restaurant. Not ideal for the summertime! There is no door that closes the washbasin area. The toilette door is open on the base. The shower is really big and comfortable! Staff is very helpfull and kind!

We stayed here for 2 nights in a suite. Plus points the service is excellent and the breakfast is great! Location is good. But the rooms are outdated. Our suite was 2 rooms knocked together, no proper separate bathroom area .. its part of the bedroom. Furniture is old, balcony was covered in bird netting and the room and hotel has plastic plants.. The pictures of the rooms are not 100% in real life .. also in the corridor the carpets are very old and the wifi router is sticking out on the wall. The backrooms can be noisy as they face peoples homes... a kid was kicking his ball which was very disruptive.. Overall a very expensive hotel in relation to quality of rooms and decor. Also the reception claimed to have tried to book us into a restaurant that we wanted to go and told us it was full! However when we called the restaurant direct they said they did in fact have a place for us! not sure what happened here. Would not stay again.. Service was good though..

Having lived in Schwabing 10 years ago, we chose this hotel owing to its great location. The hotel is situated minutes from the Englischer Garten on a cute square. On the plus side the staff are very friendly and the breakfast is excellent (fresh eggs and, well, fresh everything!). On the minus side, the hotel is old fashioned on the inside (although website says was fully renovated in 2009), the room was not well appointed with a small balcony overlooking the alley and with noise from arguing neighbours. The bathroom is part of bedroom which did not smell great given we were there in summer, also there is no aircon. Further, there is no parking. Overall, good service and location, but tired and dated hotel - expensive for what you get.

How lovely to stay in a hotel with a bit of character, friendly and helpful staff, fabulous breakfasts and in such a good location in Munich. Really liked the décor, the comfy beds and block out curtains! Only negative was the pillows which we found too large and soft but they happily provided an alternative on request. Despite the weather being cold and wet during most of our stay, the comfort of this hotel helped make it an enjoyable experience - good cafes, restaurants and shops close by, an easy walk to the U-bahn station and only a couple of stops to the main part of the city. It was also excellent value for money. We would definitely stay here again and have already recommended it to travelling friends.

Room Tip: We chose the room with the small balcony which was lovely - on the one sunny day we were able to us...

Don't expect a luxury or sofisticated hotel. You will find a very pleasent place to stay, with an excelent staff in a exceptional localization (between the English Garden and Leopoldstrasse). The price is ok (not cheap, not too expensive), and the breakfast is awesome. I definitely recommend it!

This is a clean and overall comfortable little hotel.

PROS:
- clean, well maintained
- in a nice area, convenient
- rooms have MOST of the things
- nice breakfast
- good, friendly service

CONS
- rooms really small, at least for traveling on business for a few days. Suitcase barely fits
- probably due to this, some things are missing, most annoyingly too few towels. If you call and ask for more, employees will bring you more, but next day again lack of towels
- not in the most popular downtown location

Overall, nice for a short tourist visit, good value for money, but probably not for a business trip for a few days
