“Small room but clean”
Reviewed 2 August 2014 via mobile

Good position to North of Old Town. The hotel has parking @ 15 euros a night in an underground car park. Staff were nice and room was small but very clean and we had all we needed. Aircon was good and to be honest, apart from tiny bathroom it was just the job. Don't be put off by other reviews.

I stayed with a friend in the Leonardo Boutique Hotel in Munich for 4 nights. The staff were really friendly and helpful, the room lovely, location excellent and breakfasts scrumptious! I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Munich for a city break. We had booked the hotel before reading the previous reviews and arrived feeling a little anxious. We had nothing to fear as the hotel was perfect!

This hotels main attraction is its location.
Just a 10 minute walk from Marienplatz, and in a nice and reasonably quiet neighbourhood.
The rooms are small, and the size of the bathrooms are laughably small. The bathroom has glass-doors.not a nice feature.
Breakfast is expensive at the hotel, but since there are lots of alternatives nearby, it is better and cheaper to use them. The bakery across the street is nice.
The staff is very friendly and service-minded. This is, besides the good location, why I have stayed here twice, and would stay here again. Good value if you just need a place to sleep.

Dear Marius,
thank you for you really constructive feedback. It helps us to get better!
We have started with one "model" baths where the glass door can be closed with an additional jalousy. Also we are going to renovate the shower curtains to doors instead until the end of this year it will be in nearly all of our rooms. For the size we can unfortunatly not do anything, as it is an old building, and we are not allowed to change the constructions.
Thank you for your comment of the friendly staff - we are all very proud of those! :)
I am happy to hear, that you are coming back to our hotel and will be happy to welcome you personally the next time.
Sunny regards,

I would not consider it as a "boutique hotel" at all, it's just a very normal urban hotel located in Maxvorstadt Munich, well connected with subway Universität station.
Best of the hotel is the location, very centric, safe, convenient, nice area full of restaurants and cafés.
Reception area is nice and they offer cold scented water as you arrive.
Staff are nice and helpful.
No free internet connection! That's really inconvenient as the daily rates are not a bargain either.
There's free internet signal at lobby due to Thai restaurant in the building. The restaurant Nam Nam, is not recommendable at all, nice terrace but terrible food.
Rooms are rather small and dark. The worst thing is that they smell stale! We asked for a room change and they got us a new one but the smell was also bad, unfortunately they did not have any other left.
Bathroom was small but comfortable, good assortment of amenities, hair dryer and modern style. Very clean and new looking.
I would not rate is as boutique hotel at all but also is not a real 4 star, I would say a 3 star max.
I would only recommend it if you are looking for a centric location on a urban weekend scape.
The cleaning service was extremely loud and clumsy in the mornings, continuous door bangs and loud noises from very early in the morning that disturbed us greatly.

Room Tip: Beware of rooms' stale smell.

Dear Casilddaa,
thank you for your feedback and the time you took to inform us for your experience.
I would like to comment some points:
- the internet is free of charge, you just need to get a member of us (AdvantageCLUB)
- the restaurant namnam does not belong to us. But I am very confused, as I have only received good comments from our guests regarding the food and service there. But of course I will check this very carefully.
- Thank you for the cleanliness of the room.
For any questions do not hesitate to contact me.

This hotel came recommended from a friend. She enjoyed it, but we almost pulled out after reading the reviews on this site. That would have been a mistake.
We encountered no problems with dirty bathrooms, unclean sheets, or smelly hallways. The rooms were small but we also didn't spend much time in them.
The location was perfect, close enough to the sites that we could walk or grab the U-bahn, but far enough away to not be touristy. The hotel is near the university, so there are plenty of nearby bars, bakeries, laundromats, etc. There is only a short walk to the English Garden, and given the hot weather on our visit, we were there often.
The problem: The AC went out one night. The explanations we received were contradictory and not satisfactory. We had two very hot nights (to be fair, the weather was abnormally hot for Munich this time of the year - early June). We opened the (huge) windows. The outside street noise was not great (earplugs helped) as some noted. While there is some street noise, the noise was not that of a "busy" street.
We did not buy the included breakfast as we were able to eat from the nearby shops. We didn't visit the restaurant at all, so we can't comment on it.
For the money, this hotel was a good value.

I booked the hotel as it was suggested by our business partners, as it was nearest hotel to their facility. The room was ok, but the toilet was a nightmare. It is so small, that you can not sit on a toilet bowl properly without touching the sink with the body, or the wall with the knees. And on floor there is trash can in front of you that is screwed in the floor and it can not be moved, so there is no room for your right leg. The breakfast was very good, and location is nice.
Just next door is very nice american diner that serves very good burgers.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with bigger bathroom.

I booked a night in this hotel through booking.com so that I could book it and not pay until after my stay, which was 6 months in advance.
I then discovered that they had charged my credit card the full price the very next day. Due to flight changes I enquired about cancelling this booking, with 5 months notice. They refused to cancel the booking or to refund my money, I would have been happy to pay a cancellation fee, but not the full price. Booking.com were no help at all, they referred me direct to the hotel, who then referred me back to booking.com because I had made my booking through them. When I went back to booking.com they basically said there was nothing they could do. Very poor customer service. Try elsewhere.

Dear Sir or Madam,
thank you for your feedback.
I can understand your disappointment. But as you understand there are always different rates to book. If you chose to take the lowest rate with lots of reductions, this is not cancelable or changeable anymore. This is a common rule in many different companies.
Please let me know personally when you will come to Munich the next time, I will see what we can do then.
Enjoy the time.
