I stayed for 3 nights and was suitably impressed by the hotel.

The rooms were spacious, nicely decorated and shower/tub combo was nice. They have rather quirky 'luggage' style tv racks and close storage spaces but they work well enough. The rooms also have a nice little seating area.

The hotel restaurant is highly recommended for dinner - the Japanese fusion 'thing' is done very well here. The sweet potato appetizer and Irish beef was divine.

Location is great, very central to everything. Parking is easy - do it yourself, just pull up to Rindermarket and its on the left; pull in and done. Its easier to find that yourself than it is to try and find whatever the hotel provides for valet (I never found where you were supposed to park otherwise for check-in/drop-off).

The only small annoyance was the wifi not reaching the restaurant. Oh, and sleep quality will be a bit impacted if you sleep in late and the church bells start bonging on you.

All in all a nice stay (although I did have to move rooms as detailed in the room tips)

Room Tip: I hate to put these comments in here as I am sure they are a nightmare for the hotel but I would avo...

We loved this hotel. The rooms are incredibly spacious, comfortable and interesting. The fit outs are beautiful And minimalist. The location is amazing- right on the Viktualienmarkt (a little tricky to find... If you come from the market there is a lift next to the chocolate shop). Try and be there on a Saturday the atmosphere is fantastic in the market.

The breakfast is amazing. We'd been traveling around Europe for a month and this was the most outstanding breakfast buffet in terms of choice, quality and uniqueness. There is a heavy Japanese influence at breakfast and at dinner it is a really wonderful Japanese restaurant.

The prices are high, but the quality of the room, and the service was great. My only criticism would be, a hotel that charges these prices would generally have someone to help you with your bags. This is minor, but when lugging large cases on the street looking for the entrance it would be helpful.

A wonderful facility. The breakfast buffet was the most impressive spread I've experienced in my travels in US or abroad. The staff was friendly and fluent in English. The quality of the room greatly exceeded my expectations. A high quality design and furnishings. Be sure to remember your outlet converter though - the one I bought at REI did not fit in the circular, recessed outlets. Wifi was included in the room and convenient for planning the next day's events. If you are able to splurge, I highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Courtyard view was fine - if you can look out on the nearby market it might be fun

Stayed here for two nights over the Christmas holidays. The hotel is conveniently located off the Marienplatz (although a little tough to find in the crushing holiday market crowds) and is also right across from the Viktualienmarkt which is a local food market. We actually walked from the main train station to the hotel (was about a 15 minute walk) but I'm sure we could have gotten there quicker via the metro and going back to the train station we took a cab which was very quick. You are definitely paying for the location to be in this hotel. The room was on the small side but the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and well appointed. WiFi is included but had a data max per stay of 500MB, so be careful of this if you will have heavy internet needs. We didn't eat at the restaurant, but had drinks at the bar one night and they were equivalent to what you'd pay in a bigger city for trendy cocktails. You definitely pay a bit more for the location but it is absolutely worth it.

Stayed there just before Christmas and 3 other times before that. Can not have a better location and the hotel offered a lot of charm. Staff were very pleseant. Not a 5 star feel but a 5 star location and did the job. I read a comment about the room menu. Who needs it with so much choice of places to eat in the centre of Munich.

Had a one-night lay-over between planes, had some time to kill in Munich for about 19 hours. Very pleased with this hotel - in the very heart of Munich old-town. Everything is super-clean, staff is super-nice, we were super-satisfied. A little pricey, but location is totally worth it - few steps from U-Bahn, several steps to the Marienplatz with all the gothic-style buildings and churches. Glockenspiel show is a must-see.

this review is slightly overdue, but i wanted to add my voice to those who loved their stay at the louis hotel. i stayed at the louis hotel for one night at the end of march with my husband and two children on the way home from a ski trip to austria. sadly, we were only at the louis for a night -but it was a perfect place to stay in munich and i'd go back there anytime. my family agrees.

before we even arrived, the staff was very helpful with our initial booking and kindly made dinner reservations for us in advance of our arrival, which i appreciated.

on the subject of arrival - as other travelers have mentioned - this was the least convenient and most irritating aspect of the hotel. we arrived on a busy saturday afternoon - the day before easter -when the area around the hotel was packed with people. the hotel website says to give a call when you get close to the hotel so that someone from the staff could come out and help with bags- which i did, and was told by the girl who answered the phone to just pull into a parking spot and unload the bags. not so helpful. and when we first arrived, there wasn't even a space to pull up. so we circled around once- and this time found the loading zone clear - and called again to request help. a girl did come out with a bag cart - but i would describe her as marginally pleasant. since the hotel has a relatively unaccessible entrance - they should station someone out front permanently to be on call to help with bags and checkin - because it did not get our stay off to a great start. the hotel did park our car for us though, and fetch it in the morning which was helpful.

that aside- the rest of the stay was wonderful. we had a fantastic - and huge! - markt room on the top floor. it was incredibly spacious - and the luxury of space was worth the whole stay. plus the room was light, and airy and uncluttered. and smelled wonderful. i wish american hotels would take a lesson in simplicity from the louis. loved all the wood in the room. bed linens were crisp and the room was spotless. and all the custom fixtures were lovely- and beautifully designed. bathroom was very large with an extra long tub and plenty of towels and linens for all of us. loved the bath products. in addition, the staff had already outfitted the room with the two extra beds i had requested for my children. they were absolutely the best temporary beds i've seen - almost like real twin beds but lower - on an actual frame - sturdy, and comfortable - and as beautifully made up as the main bed - with a robe and slippers on each - which delighted my girls. there was plenty of room for the beds and my girls felt like they had their own little space in the corner of the room.

i will say that the bathroom set up was a little odd - toilet in the front hall, separate from bath/shower - but the odd thing was how far the toilet was from the rest of the bathroom-you had to walk all the way through the hall and the bedroom to get the the sink/shower/tub. and there was no ventilation in the bathroom. not ideal - but minor.

and as others have said - the wifi was a pain - free - but i kept getting kicked off and having to call down and request a new code. someone should fix that. i finally just gave up since i didn't want to have to keep calling the front desk.

but we all loved the espresso machine in the room, and the lovely doors that could be opened to the balcony. and as it was the evening before easter - we spent most of the night and early more listening to gorgeous church bells ringing out over the city. it was absolutely beautiful.

and as everyone else has said, the hotel has a fantastic location and we all enjoyed strolling through the viktualienmarkt and the surrounding neighborhood. we loved the breakfast - so many lovely fruits and vegetables and unusual asian-inspired small bites. - in addition to pastries and more traditional items. for us it was a welcome change to have so many fresh choices after a week of breads/meats/cheese in austria.

all in all, i thought the louis hotel was lovely and refreshing - and merged the best parts of a hotel with a the individuality and un-corporate serenity of a smaller property. thanks for a lovely night.
