“The place to stay”
Reviewed 17 April 2014 via mobile

We recently stayed at Louis on a three day stopover I'm Munich. The hotel was everything you could want, it was an easy walk to all the sights and restaurants. The room was well proportioned and very well laid out though not having hand wash facilities in he separate toilet was a little odd.
The hotel breakfast was generous and well priced.
Lastly and most importantly was the staff, they where fantastic, other hotels should send their people here to see how customer service is done.
I would not stay anywhere else in Munich now that we have stayed here.

Hotel Louis exceeded my expectations with handsomely furnished, quiet, spacious rooms; friendly staff; fabulous breakfast buffet; comfy beds all minutes from the historic Marienplatz. Loved the special mini calming spray bottles provided to infuse your pillow with the scent of lavender and herbs, the complimentary truffles and champagne.

Love staying at this hotel whenever I travel to Munich on business, which is several times a year. It is conveniently located near the Marienplatz and by the Viktualienmarkt. The rooms are very quiet and nicely appointed with a decent sized bathroom with all of the necessities. I love the toiletries they provide too, including the pillow fragrance to help one have a good night's sleep. Wifi access available for free and the breakfast buffet is good. The Japanese restaurant for dinner is lovely but a little expensive I think, however, there are some amazing traditional Bavarian restaurants in close proximity to the hotel which are worth exploring.

We stayed at the Louis Hotel for 4 nights in March 2014 and we had a delightful stay. We stayed on the 4th floor and we loved our view of the Viktualienmarkt. It was NOT noisy at all.....you hear the street noise when you open your balcony door, however, once you close it, it is very quiet. I actually loved the sounds of the city and the market. There was a big soccer match that weekend and there was lots of revelry going on in the Markt and it did not bother us at all (and we are not big beer drinkers). I just loved the colors, sights and sounds of the market. The hotel staff is top notch, very professional and helpful. We LOVED the location of this hotel. We did take a taxi from the HauptBahnhof....too far to walk with luggage, but we took the subway to the airport as the subway stop Marienplatz is so close. We ate breakfast every morning out in the market and picked up what we needed. We did not eat at the hotel. It just wasn't our style. Too stuffy, but we loved being in the city. So easy to get to everything from this hotel. The Glockenspiel is just outside the door. We walked to lots of restaurants, the Museums etc. We'd love to stay here again on our next visit to Munich. Oh, and we used the workout room and the sauna several times. Great as well. It is not cheap, but it is well worth it.

Room Tip: Ask for a shower and a room overlooking the Viktualienmarkt. It's wonderful!

Although very central the rooms are quiet. You might hear the odd drunk wandering home through viktualienmarkt but there are no pubs there that open late.

The furniture is very nice and the bathrooms lovely. If you've got kids you'll need to get 2 interconnecting rooms which can be expensive.

So I've been thinking of staying at the Hotel Louis for a while, and was able to finally when I was in Munich last week. One of the reason was the location, being right across from the Viktualienmarkt, and the second being that I had stayed at their sister property the Cortiina that I really enjoyed.
The location is terrific, right in the center of town, very convenient to what I need to do when I'm in town every time. If you are into shopping in Munich, this is the best location for you.
The room is very well appointed, clean, modern, but yet not "cold". I had a room overlooking the market on the top floor, with a small terrace, which was terrific.
The bed is very comfortable, and plenty of space in the room. The bathroom is large, and with a heated floor, which was amazing.
They used Ren amenities, which i always loved, they have a really great products for skin care.
The breakfast was quite good, more focus on the healthy and vegetarian, which is quite rare for european hotels.
i had dinner at the Japanese restaurant one night, the quality is quite good.

That's all great, here's the not so great:
The hotel has 2 entrances, one is across from the market, which you'd need to take an elevator up to the reception area; the other is on the same level as the reception area, which you will walk through a corridor to get to the reception. neither is really an issue unless you expect to get help with your luggage. There will be no one there at neither entrances from the hotel.
After I checked in, the reception showed me how to use the elevator to go to the room, but no offer to help to take the luggage to the room. (I would have declined the help, but that's not the point).
Some of the reception staff were very nice, all smiles, some other are just, well, cordial. asking for an adaptor was quite a "task", or at least it was made to feel that way.
All in all, this is a hotel with great location, just know what you are expecting. This is not a luxury hotel where you'd expect great service. It's a good hotel if you don't require anything and are self sufficient, and just want a great location in Munich. Not much more.

Room Tip: The rooms on the top floor have small terraces facing the market.

This hotel is based in the most wonderful location, within easy walking distance of all the main attractions and with lovely places to eat and drink close by. However, we were very disappointed with our room which was quite small with no view at all. We had a "courtyard deluxe" and if you're going to stay here I'd recommend either going for the more expensive option with a view of the market or just getting the cheap room. See posted picture for our "French balcony in the cozy and charming rooms under the roof with beautiful views to the „Alter Peter” and the “Frauenkirche”" Actually we could only see a wall and it was very dark. It was very clean and comfortable but it thinks it's much trendier than it actually is. For that price we would have expected something a bit more exciting/bigger.

The food/drink is very expensive and the breakfast ridiculously priced. We didn't eat here but some other guests told us that it wasn't worth the money. Also no tea/coffee in room - just a very expensive mini-bar.

The staff are lovely and very helpful with amazingly good English.

Generally a nice stay but I don't think worth the money. Next time we'll stay somewhere more traditional.

Room Tip: Get one with a market view - they charge a premium for it though!
