Just about 10-15min walk from Marienplatz. We ordered some soups, hot dishes and a Bavarian plate. The soups and hot dishes were delicious. Not many customers that night and their service was very good. Price is reasonable too and I really think they should rank higher.

If you are into hotel-brunches, this is the one which has it all. In stead of sitting in the hotel, you are setting in the Basement. Many rooms with wood on the walls (like other 'stubes' in Munich).
Once a week (I think) there is a Jazz brunch: with a live band playing some Jazz while you try to eat way too much from the buffet!
At 39.50 EUR per person (including a glass of prosecco) it is not the cheapest around.
The food is good. It has everything: cold and warm meats, cold fish, nice cheeses, a cook which can me your eggs like you want it, more meat, some sausages, all kinds of juices, nice dessert and enough coffee.
The waitress are kind and quick.
If you don't mind the prices, it is a go for sure.
(for the people who can't find it: Yes, it is in the expensive looking hotel in the street, go in there and ask).

Local friends brought my partner and I here for lunch. I wasn't paying much attention to where we were going, but it wasn't far off Marienplatz. It's not a place you'd stumble upon, as it's down in a basement, and the outside isn't well marked. It is so worth searching out!

The waiter had English and German menus for our mixed crowd, and spoke really good English. The food was really great even though our group of 5 only had 2 different dishes between us. The prices were quite good, too, for being so close to a major tourist area.

The only reason it's ranked so low on TripAdvisor is because tourists don't know about it. I'm sure the locals would like to keep it that way! It's tourist friendly and the food makes the search worth while.

My husband and I spent our first dinner in Palais Kellar after getting lost for half-an-hour and a taxi ride. The dinner made up for it. We booked a table online in advance and received a confirmation letter (with letterhead). They greeted us as "guests from Canada", service was awesome, very polite and warm. It was the first time we ate in a German restaurant and the experience was memorable. We had a French onion soup, a pork stew with noodles with mushroom sauce and a beef stew with potato dumplings. Both the soup and pork stew were very delicious and the beef stew was good. We were so full that we couldn't order dessert. That was usually the case in Germany, the portion size was generous. The resturant was located in a nice hotel, the atmosphere was historic, traditional and lovely, not the fine-dining, fancy type.
