“Great Location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 August 2013

Christoph was helpful but unobtrusive, the beds comfy and the shower great, breakfast good, location brilliant, and the price for Munich reasonable so cannot really fault it.The loaction is within walking distance of most things and dead easy from the airport

The location is great and the host is very kind and helpful!

Breakfast is basic but have some healthy choices, such as yogurt, whole grain bread and seeds. We have no complaint.

The room is clean but very small, especially for 3 people (one kid). The weather was very hot during our staying. Since the bed was narrow for 3 people, there is no air conditions (there is a fan), and the window is facing the street with some noise at night, we had very bad sleep quality for 3 nights. Plus, currently, some constructions are going on, starting from 7:00 am to 7:30 am, you can almost feel that the very loud noise is shaking the building.

Also, there is no shampoo and conditioner provided. It may not be a problem for other people. But since I expected the supply, I didn't bring them with me.

We will not do it again. Hopefully, other people visiting at different time with better weather have better experience. Again, the location is great and the host is very nice.

Dear Fan,

thank you very much for your comment. I apologize for the noise and the felt vibrations during your stay due to the construction. I told you on the phone about the construction site and that it won´t be predictable for me what stage the construction will be during your stay. The deconstruction of the building next to us will be finished this weekend. I do not expect, that the rebuilding will be as noisy and shaking as the deconstruction was. It is correct that all 4 rooms are normally double rooms and in 2 of them a third bed can be added with limited space then, which i normally mention in my offers. Yes it was very hot, but you will usually find air condition only in 4 and 5 star hotels in Germany. Air conditioning is very uncommon in private homes here. The neutral lliquid soap provided in your room can be very well used as shampoo. I hope your further journey in Europe is under a better star. Sorry again for all the inconveniences. Honestly yours, Christoph

We made our reservation several months before we arrived based on reviews from TripAdvisor. Christof was super helpful and prompt in responding to our e-mails. He even e-mailed us a month or two before we left and informed us that some construction would be occurring during our stay. He offered to cancel our reservation, or reduce our price by 10 euros per night. We opted to stay, and we really enjoyed it.

First thing when we arrived, Christof sat down with us for probably 15 minutes giving us an outline of the city, and suggested some attractions and restaurants. We took him up on a few things and they were all great.

The hotel is in an amazing location. It's a five-minute walk to Marienplatz, which is smack-dab in the middle of the the city. All of the attractions, restaurants, and shopping are all around the hotel. Breakfast was simple and tasty, which was a nice change from sausage and pretzels we ate for lunch and supper.

The rooms were nice. I believe we were in Room 1, which had a separate entrance. The room and bathroom was clean.

Overall, we had a great time. The hotel was an amazing value in the best location. We couldn't have asked for anything better.

My wife & I stayed here for 3 nights in early June 2013. As mentioned in all of the reviews, the location is great as are the hosts. Can't comment on the local transportation as we walked everywhere we went in Munich, that's how great the location is. Even the English Gardens are within walking distance. Be sure to visit the Residenz, Theatine Church near the Residenz, and a biergarten or two. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that there is an excellent Afghan restaurant right below the pension. We had never eaten Afghan before, and it was very good. Another option for a tour to Ludwig's castles is given my Mike's bike tours, don't be fooled by the name. We opted for this tour, which is by bus, and takes you into Neuschwanstien castle a little differently. It is a hike in along a river and waterfalls, which is very scenic. You end up near Mary's bridge. You do have a decent elevation climb which includes about 350 steps spread out along the way, but it is a beautiful hike. I can't imagine a better place to stay in Munich than Pension am Jackobsplatz. I do recommend room 1, which is the one we had.

I have not actually stayed at this property, but have to give them kudos for helpfulness! I sent an email requesting information on rooms & rates, and received a very prompt, detailed reply. They even went so far as to mention ongoing construction outside in front of the hotel! I give them much credit for doing so, and would have gone ahead and booked the room based on positive reviews, despite the construction, but I had already found another property closer to where we wanted to be.

My daughter and i stayed here for three days while visiting Munich. Pension am Jakobsplatz is in the best loacation to tour the city, right in the heart of everything. Christoph is a great host who provides wonderful insight into visiting the city and where to eat. The rooms were clean, bathrooms spotless and breakfast was superb. We will stay here on our next visit to Munich. Free Wi-Fi and parking was just around the corner. At one point during our visit, I needed some directions, called Christoph on his cell and he knew exactly where we were and how to get to the next point.

My granddaughter and I stayed here for 2 nights at the beginning of July. What a find! Walk to everything, great restaurants nearby, and Christoph is a most genial host, providing all that one could possibly need. Immaculate B and B! Wonderful breakfast. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Room #1 has private facilities.
