“You haven't lived til you've eaten here!”

This was my second visit to Shane's. The first was a wonderfully successful wedding party and I vowed to return as a private guest. It took nearly two years and I wasn't disappointed. First of all we had a charming and friendly reception and were not hurried to the table after deciding to take an aperitiv at the bar.

The service is excellent not only in style but for the fact that it is unpretentious, informal but totally respectful. Special praise here for the genial sommelier, who learned his trade in Mayfair, London. His descriptions of the accompanying wines and their suitability to the food we received added an extra dimension to the meal.

The food itself was done to perfection with some surprising combinations which seemed do defy the "logic" of my relatively conservative palate. Each course was served at exactly the right intervals despite the fact that the restaurant was busy.

All in all, a wonderful experience. Long live Shane's retsuarant and its excellent team!

Was impressed by the business model, as it has to be the best way I have ever seen to get out the most covers the quickiest and easiest way possible. What coukd be easier than knowing what you have to cook before you open and most of it is cold and is prepared earlier! ! Reminded of a pretentious bording school where nobody knows what they are having and you pay through the nose for it. Shane is nice to be fair and the rent is obviously high. Not for my pallet but a lot of others liked it, I prefer the brenner grill.

“Great food, but too much up-selling”
Reviewed 22 May 2014

On our first night in München we decided to try one of the best restaurants in town according to TripAdvisor. The food was great and the staff was very friendly. We had a 6 course surprise menu + ice.

What we did not like was the continuously up-selling by the staff. We already knew that there is no menu in this restaurant and you only have to chose how many courses you want. But the price per course was not told in advance. We received the price list after we ordered. I already knew from the website that the courses are EUR 15,- each, but this procedure should be the other way around. The staff is really pushing you to buy wine and extra courses (even during the dinner.) The cheapest wine from the list was about EUR 42,- if you don't want the wine package. I can recommend this restaurant food wise, but I think it is way too commercial.

“Omelette Surprise without Omelette”
Reviewed 15 May 2014

Depends if you are into surpirse menues. It can be a real surprise - but not in this case...

Very friendly waiters ask you at the beginning what sort of food you are not into and then the feast starts. We took a 4 course menu and were absolutely delighted. Amuse gueles were served after a delicious potato bread with pea spread followed by an atlantic scallops saute with marinated fresh radishes, chive cream and red scarlet. Then we got the panfried turbot on red beet-shiitake-salad and fresh horse radish, as main course the pink roasted duck breast on smoked lentils was served.
The desert was delicious too but I had too much vine to remember exactly...

À propos vine. The sommelier was excellent and served us some great surprises like German Rieslings and other exquisit European vines. Just follow his recommendations and you will be in very good hands. After dinner Shane pased by for a lovely chat - We will definitely be back.

“Irish flair in Germany?”
Reviewed 21 April 2014

Yes, it is true - a top class experience. Comfortable, casual and elegant. Food and wine top drawer, and (mostly) young staff attentive and enthusiastic. 5 course taster was excellent.
