“great location and breakfast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 October 2009

Easy to find from train station. Able to walk to many sights. As other reviews mention, in an adult area but at no time felt unsafe. The breakfast was the best we had in any part of our Europe trip(visited a few diffrent countries over 4 weeks). The room was very comfy for 3 people and the staff was helpful with any questions we had. Would stay here again if back in Munich.

I came to Munich for some business activities - a show in the Neumessestadt and some meetings around Bavaria. Staying in this hotel appeared to be a great decision.

First, there's the location. This hotel is situated about two minutes walk from the central station - the Hauptbahnhof.

Second, there's the tidiness of everything. Someone appears to be cleaning something all the time and the rooms, corridors, reception and breakfast lounge are really clean and neat consistently.

Third, the included breakfast: it is not extremely generous in the variety, but everything is fresh and tasty and there is enough of everything. Breakfast includes the typical Bavarian Pretzel, so you'll feel a bit traditional...

Fourth there's the room. It is one of the smallest hotel rooms I've been to - but it is big enough for everything you need: no bath here - shower instead, but otherwise there is no problem in managing in it. The room is small, but it was okay for me, staying there for a week. THE big advantage in Hotel Royal's rooms is the free internet you can use 24/7. An important note: I asked for (and got) a back room, so it was also extremely quiet even though the hotel is so close by the center of the city. I don't know, however, if it is quiet enough in the front rooms.

Fifth, and most importantly, there's the service. The young owner of the place is really nice - and he acts like a high-tech worker: NEVER SAY NO! Whatever you need, the owner and his staff will do everything they can to help you.
I believe this fifth point is the most important of all. All in all, even though the room was a bit small, without any luxurious feeling to it, and considering the reasonable rates - I highly recommend Hotel Royal.

I recently stayed at Hotel Royal with a couple of friends. I can't say anything bad about it. The location was great (2 minute walk from train station and 10 minute walk to city center), the room was spacious and clean, there was free internet access, and the breakfast was plentiful and delicious! There was also a hot beverage machine that you could use all day long for hot tea, coffee, cappucino, etc. I was a little apprehensive about the location before I went, but I never felt scared at all. My friends and I got a great deal on the hotel w/ a Rick Steve's discount. I would definately recommend this hotel, and I would stay here again if I go back to Munich.

This hotel is very handy to the main train station and all S and U-bahn connections. You are only a 10 minute walk to Oktoberfest and about the same to the Marienplatz. It would be hard to find a better location but it is also in the Red Light District and there is noise all night long. We never felt unsafe in the area, but you'll need ear plugs to sleep if you have a room that faces the street and nearly all of them do. I would suggest you ask for a room that is not on the street side (2 of the 7 rooms on each floor are on the quiet side.

The breakfast is very nice and the staff very attentive.

Hotel Royal was a great hotel for Oktoberfest. THe breakfast was yummy. The hotel was clean and the staff were helpful. THe area outside of the hotel is a little seedy but not scary at all. The windows shut out all street noise. The beds were very comfy and the pillows were great. The rooms were really nice and spacious. We even had a little balcony.

Royal Hotel Munich is very central for wandering around Munich, you wil also benefit from having a lovely fresh, plentiful breakfast every morning. There has to be something for everyone at the buffet. The staff are very helpful and he rooms are spotless. We stayed on the sixth floor and had a terrace area that we could share with neighbouring rooms. Even though it was at the front of the building we didn't get much street noise bcause we were on the 6th floor. You are close to a few strip clubs but nothing to scare anyone off, no girls on the street, but that's the price you pay in any city when you are close to a main train station and in the city centre.

The pedestrianised town centre is only 5 minute walk away. I'd recommend getting a dayy pass for the transport system and up to 5 adults can travel around the city on trams, buses and trains for a total of 9 euro - a bargain.

If you feel hungry then head for the Augisteiner Beer Hall, half way down on the right hand side as you head for Marienplatz. Norbert is the manager and he runs a great beer hall, the food is hearty and we loved the wild boar and mushrooms that we ate a couple of times as it was so good. The beer is fantastic and the atmosphere was great.

Make sure you have a look around the Virtualmarket - full of lovely fresh food stalls with some great bars and eating places just off the market. We ate in Ludwigs and enjoyed the ffod there.

All in all Munich is a fascinating place, the historical buildings are great, the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and the local people take great pride in their city and heritage.
