“Great to have free mini bar in your room”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

This hotel stay was great for us. The main thing that could have made it better would be if breakfast was included, 19 Euro for breakfast is very pricey. The location is not the best but it is close to walk to the tourist areas. Overall very satisfied with the service and the quality of the rooms.

Room Tip: We had a privilege room which was nice and large. Just be wary of the small winding staircase to get...

Spent three great nights in Munich. The hotel is only three minutes walk from Munich's main station. The area felt safe, and despite nearby hostels, we encountered no problems, even late at night. Hauptbanhoff was great for easy access to the U & S Bahns, and also the long distance rail network. Staff on the front desk were very welcoming and friendly, the room was well equipped, and being at the rear of the building, was very quiet. I found the beds to be very comfortable, but the pillows a little flat.

Didn't do breakfast because of the cost, but there were plenty of nearby alternative options.

The free minibar was a bonus, but one beer between two guests was a little mean.

Very few English TV channels, but you don't go to Munich to watch TV.

Overall, a great stay, and I would be happy to return.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the rear of the property. Lots of luggage lockers available at Hauptbanhoff for €6...

There are two Mercure hotels in the centre of Munich. This one and the Mercure Altstadt near Marienplatz. If you mainly look at room comfort and connectivity this is a no-brainer. The Mercure City Centre is superiour to its "sister" in every aspect but location.

You barely have to walk three minutes from Munich Central station to the hotel, which means you can be anywhere in the Munich area by using the many railway, tram and metro lines available. Granted, the station area isn't the nicest, but that's sadly the case for most bigger European cities.

The hotel itself has spacious, well-kept rooms. I especially loved the chaise longue in my room. The free and daily-stocked minibar was also very nice indeed. The hotel has the usual high-quality Mercure breakfast buffet. There is also a restaurant if you want to dine in, but frankly you'd be silly not to go out and visit one of the many excellent restaurants or beergartens of Munich.

Very friendly staff as usual. The free Internet was a bit slow though and couldn't be used to access my VPN network because of the lack of speed. But that's really the only minor niggle I had.

I was in Munich for business but this was one of the most relaxing business trips of the year.

After changing from other Hotel with similar room rate, I was surprised to find a very good Hotel. Room big enough, very clean, nice furnished, all standard facilities available - even free Internet and Minibar!!!
Next to train main station it is ideal if you travel by train. Just walking distance to city center, shopping, dining and entertainment.
Expect that in this area almost no local people can be found. Full of foreigners who live there, mainly seems from Turkey and East Europe. But fine and peacefull.
Extremly friendly and helpful staff. Good feeling to live there.

Room Tip: No need for special tip.

We stayed here for five nights while visiting Munich. Very convenient to the train station, easy walk to the Old City. All the help was extremely friendly, accommodating all our requests, questions. Everyone spoke English and every time we walked in, they all greeted us with smiles, "how was your day", etc. Room was comfortable, TV worked well. While there are 3 youth hostels on the street, it was quiet at night and easily accessible. The wine bar was great and so were the prices. It was too cold to use their biergarten, but it looked like fun, when the weather cooperates.

This hotel is in a convenient location near main Munich train station, close access to many tours available, as well as walking distance to main town pedestrian street with many great cafés and restaurants.
Reception staff were very friendly, extremely helpfull with lots of good advice.
The restaurant had a wonderfull breakfast with varied selection of choice as well as fresh squeezed juice. Dinner in the restaurant was also of a high standard with a good wine selection.
Had a lovely room on the top floor with the bedroom on a mezzanine floor with attractive views from the room.

Room Tip: Although there are backpackers accommodation I the street but the area did not appear to noisy so no...

We chose to stay here for its accessibility to Munich train station (100m). From Munich Airport, it only took us 45 mins with either UBahn/SBahn. We bought the Day Partner ticket (entire network) @ Euro 21.30 as there were 4 of us. Viktualienmarkt and Marienplatz is about 20 mins walk.

We like the functional toilet and the free minibar was much appreciated. Lidl Supermarket is across the road from the hotel. Hofbrauhaus (famous beer hall) is a nice dinner venue for traditional German fare. It was very crowded and service is a bit slow but we like the ambience and music. Dinner for 4 costs Euro 40. Viktualienmarkt is a popular farmers' market with cafes and stalls selling fruits, vegetables, essential oils & spices.

Mercure Hotel Muenchen City Center is centrally located so if you need to stay near the Munich station, stay here.
