I stayed at Antares for 9 nights during a business/conference trip. It was clean, comfortable and in a great location between the University and Odeonsplatz. It was in walking distance to so many places, including the English Garden and the galleries. Breakfast was basic but fulfilling. All staff spoke excellent English. I was in a room facing the back garden, which was quiet. All in all, great value and worth staying at.

First of all, let me say how pleasant the staff at the Antares are! Every one of them were helpful with suggestions and helping us find our way around Munich. In addition, the breakfast buffet was fantastic, with all types of meat/cheeses/bread/eggs. So why the poor review? The first negative was that the elevator (which you need to take stairs to) is so small you couldn't fit two people with their bags into it. The second, and most important negative, was that their single room looked like a doom room...small bed, small desk, formica floors, it really was dated and small. Third strike was that the room had no air conditioning and was located on a busy street (or at least one that people liked to drive up and down and get noisy in late at night) so you couldn't keep the windows open. The final straw was the incredible ordeal to park a car in their garage. It starts with an alleyway that is long and a few inches wider than your car...next you drive into a "car elevator" which is even narrower and barely long enough to fit a car...the final horror is parking in a garage that is so tiny it requires the hotel staff to guide your every move. I'm a pretty good parker but I was sweating bullets on this one!

Room Tip: Ask for a room that doesn't face the street. Pay a few bucks extra for a double instead of a si...

This is a pleasant hotel with a fantastic location for exploring everything that Munich has to offer. Quite simply, we were close to EVERYTHING! Museums, the English Garden, the Marienplatz, the University, Schwabing . . . . and for anything further afield, we were very close to excellent public transportation. Our room was comfortable and we enjoyed a lovely breakfast every day. A wonderful stay!

We stayed at Hotel Antares for 4 nights and were very happy with it. The rooms were comfortable and clean with good sleeping quality, although tiny for four people. For central Munich this was a very good price and value. The location was especially good for us, as we had friends just down the street, and not too far from a U-bahn stop and the Odeonsplatz. The breakfast was excellent; German pretzels and bread, a variety of jams, scrambled and fried eggs with bacon bits, yogurt, basic cereal, and smoked salmon. We left the hotel every morning relaxed and full with the wonderful buffet. The service was also friendly and attentive. However, it was the only hotel in two weeks of Europe that didn't have free WiFi.

Munich is an expensive city for accommodation, but the Hotel Antares was very well priced. The rooms are compact but clean and comfortable (we had a room for 3), buffet breakfast is excellent, staff are professional, and Marianplatz can be walked to or is only 1 station away. Would stay here again. Yes other reviews have mentioned that there are a few steps to the lift, but this is not a problem.

Really nice hotel in centre Munich. Staff is friendly, breakfast is good and rooms are clean. you just can't ask anything better for that price.
It's also close to the park, the old town and the subway station.

Recently stayed at the hotel during a week long study abroad program and the hotel met all of my needs for a single traveler. The hotel was in an excellent location being approximately 3 blocks from the Odeonzplatz area. There were also a number of restaurants and cafes that were easily a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel. From the time of arrival, the receptionists were excellent and more than helpful when I needed assistance. They were available 24 hours a day. I stayed in a single room on the second floor. There is no direct access right to the elevator. You do have to go up a small flight of stairs before you reach the lift to carry you to the other floors. The room costs also included a daily breakfast in the hotel restaurant. Overall, the breakfast met all of my needs. The breakfast spread included typical German breakfast foods that included smoked salmon, cold cuts, cheese, rolls, pretzels, croissants, tea, coffee, cappuccino, and a variety of other items. The service was very good and they were very friendly. The hotel also offered parking right next door and it did cost approximately 10 Euro per night. The only downfall that I could see for the hotel was that WiFi was not free and you had to pay (what I thought) a very expensive price for it. I simply walked to the Starbucks down the road and used their WiFi while sipping tea everyday. Overall it was a good stay. The room provided the services that I needed and was in an excellent location.
