“Perfect for Munich and Octoberfest”
Reviewed 10 October 2012

We stayed here during Octoberfest and the hotel is just perfect. Closed enough ( 5 minute walk) to the Octoberfest yet far enough from all the noise. The hotel is quiet at night even with the traffic outside. The staff are friendly and the bathroom is just spotless. It is a 3 star hotel but is better than 4 and some 5 stars hotel we stayed at during this trip. It is situated next to a train station that will take you to the centre of Munich - 3 stops away. If you prefer taxi, it cost roughly $6-$10 euros. From here we were able to go to Salzburg and Fussen. Recommend this hotel if you are looking for good area and cost. Free internet is also a plus.

I came to Germany for the first time & just booked this hotel. Stayed there for 2 weeks & it was fantastic. The great thing about this hotel is its tidyness and friendly staff. Its on top of Metro subway thus anytime we can just catch a train & reach places. Lots of restaurants around & 2 stations away from the city center. Breakfast is good with EGGS + lots of cheese/chocolate creams for bread.

The hotel was clean and easy to get to. Really close to the Oktoberfest grounds. Having a metro stop right outside the hotel was great!
The breakfast was good - it was a nice treat to have eggs included ( and not just bread & jam).
There is parking outside (6 spots), but there are n additional 3 in a garage 5 minutes away (extra 5 euro fee). We were able to get the free parking 1 out of the 4 nights.
The room was a little small and the bathroom was right beside the bed (not a lot of privacy!). The bed was spacious and comfortable. There is no AC and the winow opens to a busy street.

We arrived in Munich in the early morning after a long overnight flight from Singapore, and got to the hotel using the city's efficient subway system without too much difficulty. Instead of the usual refrain from many a past hotel experience to wait around till closer to check-in time, the front desk staff took pains to check with the chamber staff on the earliest availability of the next cleaned room. We were pleasantly surprised to be invited to have breakfast while waiting for our room to be ready. Breakfast in the lovely and cosy dining room was outstanding, with a nice selection of breads and spreads, cold cuts, and bacon, ham and eggs to order, in addition to orange juice and tea, coffee, or hot chocolate. The charming ladies overseeing the dining room warmly attended to our various requests, and even provided a packet of gummy bears and a small puzzle for our 8 year old son. We enjoyed this same impeccable breakfast service throughout our 5 day stay at this hotel. Very soon after we were done with breakfast that first morning, we were able to check into our room, well before 10.30 am. The room was a bit tight for 2 adults and a child, but did not pose a hardship. Thoughtful touches included welcome bottles of wine for the adults and a bottle of orange juice for the young one, as well as a bowl full of assorted candy. The bed was comfortable, and the toilet a bit tight but sparkling clean. The hotel is located only 20 meters from the entrance to a subway station (Poccistrasse) and thus very convenient to reach the main train station (Hoptbahnhof) and downtown tourist areas including the main square (Marienplatz) and the Deutsches Museum. We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay at the hotel which allowed us to visit all the main attractions in Munich without much difficulty via the excellent subway system.

I have stayed in Munchen in June, with my husband, for 5 nights. The hotel is at the junction with the highway and near the Puccistrasse Metro station (http://www.mvv-muenchen.de) at two station from the city center.
The staff is hospitable. Instead of smell of smoke at the reception, the hotel is more cleaning. There is an elevator The double room was comfortable.
There is a furniture and a desk. The big wardrobe has a security box.
There is the WI-FI line but the service is limited to four password throughout the hotel equipped by a local network than you can found in internet paid. There is a TV flat. The floor is carpeted.
The single room is not so different.
The prefabricated bath has, in addition to the sanitary (shower), a mirror and a hairdryer, two big and small towel.
The breakfast is a full of salty food (cheese, ham, salami, butter…) or marmalade, Nutella, orange juice, fresh fruit, two types of bread….coffee, tea..and the specialty are eggs with bacon.
During my stay It rained. I did not hear any noise with all windows closed. You can hear the traffic on the main road at night with window opened.
I recommend the Italian restaurant, two streets near: FRIULANA Osteria Pizzeria(see the review)!
I think that I will return in this hotel because It’s in a strategic position and is more comfortable!

We selected this hotel for the last two nights of our holiday based on Tripadvisor reviews and its convenient location in central Munich. It cost only two thirds of the price we paid the night before so we were not expecting too much. HOWEVER - the room was a large corner room with a bathroom equally large containing his and hers sinks, shower and bath - all recently installed. The whole hotel was clean and beautifully decorated and we got a warm welcome on arrival. The next surprise was breakfast - a mountain of excellent fresh food which was efficiently served to our table by a waitress.
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff - they provided us with maps and sightseeing suggestions, sorted out the best travel tickets and advised us (well) on where to eat locally.
The hotel is really convenient for travellers on foot - it's just 3 stops on the underground from the centre of old Munich. The location is residential in nature, with small shops and a small supermarket just over the road where you can get sandwiches made up lunchtimes.
Of course close to the centre of Munich is not a place to go for a quiet night - but the hotel does its best with double glazing and electrically operated roller shutters on the windows.
We hope to return to Hotel Brack next year!

I stayed for some 6 weeks on a 3-days-per-week schedule. Normally I would have preferred booking a hotel chain, as "you know what you get there", but followed my customer's recommendation.

My overall statement: I was very satisfied.

As stated in other reviews, the place looks a bit old-fashioned at first glance. Not so much of the artsy stuff you see in other hotel lobbies. If you can live with that, you shall stay. In terms of location, cleanliness, service and value for money, the Brack is an outstanding choice. The very friendly clerks are extremely determined in fulfilling all your needs as best as you could think.

Most of the time I was given a nice, spacier double-bed room away from the main road, even during trade fair times. If it was available they made it possible. All the rooms I was in were equipped with high-quality flatscreens and the tuning of the channels was remarkable. A lot of times, I've been to places where they provide flatscreens but poorly tuned (where's the use of flatscreens then?). The furniture maintains the same impression you get from the lobby. A bit old-fashioned but not worn-out or ugly. Just cosy. The rooms are well-kept and very clean and so are the bathrooms. A big plus. You get access to free high-speed WLAN on request. There are no minibars or fridges in the rooms, though. Instead, a choice of chilled beverages is offered at the reception. At times, I had dairy products for dinner and the reception clerks kindly stored it in the fridge at the reception.

The breakfast deserves special mentioning. Though the choice of cold cuts didn't vary much during my stays, the quality and amount of food, at times local-style (fresh Bavarian pretzels with liver sausage), was very satisfying. Beside the overwhelming amounts of bread, cheese, juice, marmelades and cold cuts, you get fresh fruit salad (amongst the best I ever had in hotels) and very good(!) eggs prepared on request (if you can, try them all). The good food always came along with a very attentive and friendly service. On top, everything's replenished as much as you need. There's no hotel restaurant, but my 5 points go in for the breakfast.

The location comes in handy as there's an entrance to a metro station in front of the hotel. A lot of local and international restaurants, a number of grocery stores as well as cinemas, bars and Bavarian beer gardens ("Biergarten") are in walking distance. The famous Octoberfest areal (the "Festwiese") is nearby and good for a relaxing stroll after a busy day. The corner is a bit busy, you can hear that.

I'm sure I will book the Brack again on my next trip to Munich.
