“Friendy Staff and Great Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2014

I stayed at the Carat Hotel for 1 night while in Munich, The staff were very friendly and helpful and great knowledge of the city and where to go etc, the room was very nice and comfortable and felt very European. the location of the hotel was perfect it was in a quite area but very close to the city centre which was awesome. I would stay here again on my next visit to Munich.

The location of this hotel is excellent.

Breakfast is very good.

Hotel staff are fantastic, very friendly and helpful.

Rooms are clean but a little dated.

Rooms facing the courtyard are quiet but have no air con.

Rooms on the street have air con but can be noisy.

Take your pick, do you want a quiet night or a cool night?

Free wifi is good.

Would stay here again as location is ideal for getting around.

Tip: there is an African shop about 100m away towards the Tor. They sell chilled water, €1.50 for 1.5l

We stayed for 3 nights in Munich, arriving on the train and needing to get to the airport on the way home. The transport links for both were incredibly easy, and this hotel is so close to the underground. You can also walk very easily to the main area of town and to the Viktualienmarkt, but we generally got on the U Bahn to save our feet!

We booked a double room, and wen we arrived we were given the option to upgrade to a larger twin room. We did go and have a look at both rooms and opted for the double because we didn't really feel we needed the extra space, and it was essentially the same room.

There's no air conditioning in the rooms, which was a little annoying as it got hot, but the windows opened fully and there was a fan provided. We did close the windows in the evening / at night for 2 reasons - 1) because we could smell cigarette smoke from somewhere one evening and 2) because with the window open we could hear people in the courtyard / building opposite sometimes.

Our room was right next to the lift and stairs, but I have to say I didn't notice anyone else moving about inside the hotel at all, it was a pretty quiet room. Perhaps because we were on the 3rd floor, I'm not sure.

I did struggle to get comfy using the pillows provided - I often have this problem in hotels, particularly in Europe, so it's not unique to this hotel. However, by the last night I did wake up with a bit of a sore neck - maybe because of these pillows, maybe because we had been staying in hotels for a week, hard to say. The room itself was lovely, and there were blackout curtains which were very welcome and helped us to have a good lie-in!

We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel, nor did we try the restaurant attached. It always looked dark over there, so I suspect not a lot of people eat there. To be honest, you really don't need to with Sendlinger Tor station so close, it is easy to get out and about to get food.

My friend and I stayed here 3 weeks ago. There are 2 types of rooms - typical hotel rooms with mini bars and apartment type rooms with a kitchenette and dishes. The rooms are small but adequate for one or 2 people. There is a nice garden outside. The breakfast in the dining room is wonderful - huge buffet with many different options. It is also on a nice street with carious coffee bars and near the subway as well as across from several nice restaurants, one open 24 hrs a day in case you get hungry in the middle of the night.

The only negative is they don't have room service, and no coffee maker in the room. Also, I found that there were no bathroom amenities like a shower cap or anything else. Just liquid soap.

Room Tip: Unless you intend to cook in your room, I would suggest a regular room instead of an apartment type...

We stayed in the Hotel Carat, Munich for four nights. It was ideally located for all the main attractions ( many in walking distance ) and the Sendlinger tor train station was just 200 metres away. The room was just what we were looking for, a good base which was clean with good amenities.

They breakfast was excellent with lots of different choices and the staff were fantastic especially with our three year old daughter who they always made a fuss of. I would recommend this hotel to anybody looking for a hotel in a good location and that is very comfortable.

Room Tip: I think any room would be okay here, the main road seemed busy whilst outside but you couldn't h...

The perfect hotel in the perfect location. We were greeted by friendly and helpful staff who provided us with tourist information and maps. The room was comfortable with a microwave, coffee maker and refrigerator which we found very useful. Radiant heat was very easy to control. Breakfast was an impressive selection of hot and cold items including eggs, cereals, bread, fruits and meats. Again, the servers and staff were so friendly we felt more like family than guests. The hotel is located across from a park and just steps for the train/tram station. Also within walking distance to main tourist attractions. We are so glad we picked this hotel and would stay again.

Room Tip: Rooms on the second floor or above are a bit quieter

The hotel is very well placed, very close to the old town and in a nice area only one stop on the U Bahn from the main railway station/Haupt Bahnhoff. (This is a much nicer area than the hotel area around the "Hapt Bahnhof" which is not very pleasant particularly in the evening).
We had a STANDARD DOUBLE which was a reasonable size and well appointed, very nice shower room and a very comfortable bed with lovely pillows, the room faced the courtyard and was very quite as well as being very clean. Our rate included breakfast which was one of the best I have had particularly in a 3 star hotel. Lots of good quality fresh food and plenty of choice.
Very friendly and helpful people at the reception desk so nothing to complain about at all!!!

Room Tip: The rooms facing the courtyard are very quite but on our floor (5) are smaller than the rooms facing...
