Stayed here for 2 nights and what a great start as I arrived early and was told that the previous occupant had checked out and by the time I had breakfast the room would be ready. No hardship what with the small breakfast room full of fresh fruits, meats and bakery items. Half way through my breakfast the room key was brought to me and my luggage had already been placed in the room – German efficiency at its best.
Boutique hotel is the way to describe the place with great lounge area for reading and drinking coffee while you plan your day ahead. Rooms are a bit small but facilities good and nice beds with those special German comforters. Another reason to know you are in a boutique hotel is when they give you a proper key and not a piece of plastic card and normal hangers rather than the ones that are impossible to take off.
The hotel is ideally located for two reasons; one its 10 minutes walk from the English Barden so perfect to go and walk off the flight or car journey in this amazing green landscape. Two is 10 minutes in the other direction to the city centre shopping, bars, etc so no need for a car or taxi.
Overall a great hotel and would definitely come back again.

My wife and I stayed here for a few days before being joined by her parents. We had an upgraded Deluxe room and they had a standard double. Our room was much larger with a few nicer touches as well. Their room was still very nice and with enough space, but definitely much more cramped.

The service was great and the front desk staff helped us out numerous times.

The location was near numerous tram and train stations which made getting out and about to tour very easily. Numerous nice cafe's in the area as well which also made it easy to grab a coffee or croissant when we needed.

We did notice some tram noise from the train that runs outside but it was never an issue for us for sleeping. We could hear voices lightly through the walls from the parents, but it wasn't disturbing at any point.

Overall we really enjoyed the hotel and this was one of the ones we talked about loving to have an opportunity to go back and visit.

Room Tip: Upgrade for the Deluxe room!

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and found it close to walk to the main city centre or the u-Bahn just 50 metres away, or the tram went right past. The windows were double glazed so we never heard them. The down was that there were no tea/coffee facilities in the room and no fridge/mini bar. The staff were friendly but could have mentioned the available amenities on check-in such as if we wanted tea or coffee they would be able to make it for you at a charge to your room of course. A positive was the parking pass for only €2.50 per day.

This was my second trip to Munich and we again stayed at the Hotel Splendid-Dollmann. We were very happy to find that the hotel is still a great place to stay. We did not want to stay in one of the cookie cutter chain hotels in Germany. We were looking for a hotel with local flavor and we are very satisfied with this hotel. The hotel is conveniently located close to Old City sites and public transportation. There are some nice pastry shops and a San Francisco Coffee within a block or two of the hotel. Our room (#207) was spacious, clean and comfortable. Bathrooms are small but very stylish and functional. We found the staff to be exceptionally helpful in making reservations and providing directions. Staff is very fluent in English and we had no communication issues. Mattias was especially helpful when we checked in and throughout our stay. One drawback is the free internet service. The connection was very inconsistent and we ended up not using it. Also, it was not easy getting internet service on the laptop in the lobby. There are several german language newspapers available to read in the lobby but it would be nice if they had an english language newspaper. All in all a quiet, comfortable hotel and we look forward to staying here again.

The Splendid-Dollmann was a wonderful experience. The hotel is in a lovely area, Lehel. The metro stop is literally a block away, so this would be quite easy to reach if you did not have a car. We drove, and the hotel provided us with a parking pass (we found a spot on the same block) for 2.5 Euro a day. It worked out really well. The street is not super busy, so there wasn't any bar noise. The metro does provide some noise, but after a couple of passes by, we no longer noticed it.

Our room was actually quite spacious, despite what other reviewers had posted. I can see that this may be the case as each room seemed to be different. The charm of an older hotel that is not cookie cutter really appeals to my family. We easily fit a baby bed with plenty of room to move around. The bathroom was nice, clean and they provided nice toiletries.

We stayed at the end of August on a lovely day, so the room was not overly hot. I can imagine that in the dead of summer, these rooms would get quite warm. Our room had a small fan and big windows, so I think it could be cooled down a bit. My family and I are starting to get more used to the fact that there isn't really air conditioning in Europe, so we no longer expect to get air conditioned rooms unless we stay in an American chain. I prefer to stay in unique places that reflect the style of our destination, so there is a trade off.

The staff was quite nice, and there were fresh blackberries, cakes and waters waiting for us in our room. This was such a nice welcome after a long drive. My 15 month old especially enjoyed it. The breakfast was lovely with tons of fresh fruit. There was no hot items on the buffet, but it was quite nice.

The location was really nice, about a 15 minute walk to the marienplatz. You walk down Maximillion, which is the posh shopping area in Munich on your way, so the walk is enjoyable. The value for the stay was really excellent in my opinion. I would definitely stay here again.

Stylish hotel situated in an old building just near metro "Lehel" on a quite street in a walkable distance to the city center.
My single room was very small but nice furnished in a retro style. As the days were hot (up to 35 degrees) the lack of air-conditiner was a considerable drawback causing discomfort and problems with sleep. There was a small table ventilator but it couldn't help much.
The wifi is included into the room rate but it isn't fast and disconnects all the time.
The breakfast, which costs additional 15 €, is quite rich and includes berries and other fruits, but there are only boiled eggs from the hot dishes.
When booking check the hotel's web site - they can have some special offers like "pay 2 stay 3".

Do not like to write a bad review of a hotel run by very nice people but the rooms are tiny, no AC, one window, and closet size bathrooms. The location is not bad and breakfast was quite good but those are the only good things we could say about this hotel.
