My husband and I spent a weekend here on a recent trip to Munich. Hotel Torbrau is a clean, updated property just a few blocks from the Marienplatz, open air market, The Hofbrau Haus, and all the sights of the old city center. It is located in very close proximity to rail and underground stops, too. The daily breakfast buffet was included in the price of the room and included an extensive array of breads meats, and vegetables, along with eggs made to order, if desired. We did not eat in the newly-opened restaurant, but did have a drink at the bar one evening, where the staff was friendly and knowledgeable about mixed drinks, when you've had your fill of beer. I would recommend this hotel to friends, and would return myself.

We planned our trip to Munich last minute and were very lucky to find a room at the Torbrau.
This hotel is walking distance from some of the most important sites in Munich. I was surprised to see a hotel that mixes old with new. Our room was spotless and with very modern facilities, flat screen tv, security box, tub and shower the view from our room was also great! loved the little details that the hotel offers. Breakfast was also very good and customer service was always the best!

Room Tip: Deluxe double room includes continental breakfast and high speed internet, ask for higher rooms, 5th...

Located in the heart of Munich's old city, it's a stone away by foot from every spot in the old city.
Staff is very professional and helpful, the room was really ok for it's purpose- having a decent place to sleep at. The beds were comfortable, the room was spotless and at a decent size, bathroom was spotless, and the breakfast buffet was good.
The hotel has a parking lot for the guests (costing a supplement, but worth it).
The walls are extremely thin though..consider this if you are sensible to this issue.
All in all, overall very convenient hotel by all means.
Would definitely go back to the Torbrau hotel during our next stay in Munich

The hotel is located conveniently in the city center which makes walking to tourist spots quite convenient. No worries even if you'd have to say late in the city center It is very close to the Isartor subway station which made our travel to the airport even more accessible. We arrived in October for the 2011 Munich Marathon and found the hotel location quite convenient.

Arriving with my wife and 4-yr old daughter, the double-bed room suited our needs. The staff were also friendly and helpful, providing us with fresh towels daily. With the proximity of the subway stations, travel to the Olympic stadium on the marathon day was not a problem. No hassle in checking-in with the friendly staff and breakfast was free but limited in choices. Wi-fi was available but was limited only to one laptop at a time. No ref in the room. Nevertheless, the hotel was a wise choice for its location, comfort, and hospitable staff.

first i will start with the negative - there were no tea making facilities (but i there was no tea making facilities in ANY of the EU hotels i visited, so no big worry) and it wasn't made clear too me that BREAKFAST WAS AN ADDITION, so i ended up spending money were i didn't have too.

on the positive - really helpful staff who all spoke very good english, the rooms were nice and clean and regularly tidied during our stay, a good and enjoyable little bar, walking distance from many of munichs tourist sites and the rooms were a good size with a comfortable bed and chairs.
Oh! and to make up for no tea, after the daily tidy we were very kindly left bottles of water and sweeties

Room Tip: although we had no problems with the free wifi - i did hear other customers complain about their sig...

First I had made my reservation at the Bayerischer Hof but after reading the reviews here I decided to give a chance to this hotel, so I've changed my reservation and we spent 2 nights at the Torbrau.

We had a Deluxe Double room with sufficient space for all our stuff and a nice size bathroom. The only issue was the bed, it was not a king size bed but two single beds together, consequently two single matresses too. I think the rates are a little bit over the average for this hotel category if compared to other hotels I have been in Europe but hey, this is Germany, with high life cost, so....

They offer complimentary breakfast, wi-fi in the rooms and even the minibar is free, a very nice touch!! Breakfast at the hotel is not great but good enough for a hotel of that category (4 stars) and all the staff is very kind and helpful. With all that said, Torbrau served more than enough for my needs, as I haven't spent much time inside the hotel.

The hotel location couldn't be better, near the restaurants, shops, the Marienplatz, the Deutsches Museum and the Residenz. We were walking distance to almost everything we wanted to see in Munich. I just rented a car to visit the Neuschwanstein Castle, which lies about 120 km from Munich, on the Germany's border with Austria, at the Alps. This is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been, with high mountains with their snowy peaks and amazing lakes at the foothill of the Alps, really stunning!!!

I highly recommend this hotel if you don't care about luxury but care about location, you're going to love your stay with what this hotel can offer you...But if you are in Munich to stay in luxury, go to the Mandarin Oriental, the Bayerischer Hof or the Kempinski Vier Jahreszeiten.
