“Very pleasant”
Reviewed 10 February 2014

From the moment we entered and very warmly greeted to the moment we left the staff were brilliant. We happened to stay during the middle of the week in January and the hotel appeared empty.

Our room had a little balcony that overlooked a residential courtyard - it was nice and quiet. Internet for guests was is accessible by password which is given on check in. We connected 5 devices at the same time without a hitch.

A block away is a large electronics store (Saturn) and a ToysRus and a few scattered pubs. The main station is one stop away and the pedestrianized shopping (Karlsplatz) area is 2 stops away with the U-Bahn (a 5 minute walk).

We had the breakfast room all to ourselves. There is a small cooked breakfast selection but mainly there are plenty of cold cuts and rolls. The Birken muesli is delicious!

A very pleasant stay - a short ride away from the main business district - would stay here again.

Bedroom was clean and roomy. Bathroom only small though but very clean . Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Hotel bar had lovely atmosphere. Plenty of choice on continental buffet breakfast. Only negative comment pillows far too soft. Is around a 30 minute stroll to shopping and bars.

Stayed here for 3 nights in mid December, and found the Hotel Bavaria to be the perfect little spot for a weekend getaway.
Hotel is small enough to retain a personal feel, but big enough to have a buzzy atmosphere. Check in was smooth and efficient and the room was modern and provided everything that we needed.
Breakfast room was bright and airy and the buffet was spot on. Even when breakfast was at its busiest, the staff constantly replenished everything, so food was in good supply. Even at 10.30 when breakfast was supposed to end, we weren't rushed at all, and were asked if we wanted anything else.
The bar area downstairs was really cosy and the perfect place for a nightcap before retiring to the room. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable stay and would definitely return if visiting Munich in the future.

This is a little gem of a hotel! The rooms are spit-spot clean and fresh, the breakfast buffet (included) is fabulous, the bar and lobby are pleasant places to hang out, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the general atmosphere is just delightful. Because of our crazy flight schedules we arrived and departed quite early in the morning. The staff got our rooms ready for us early when we checked in, then served us coffee before the breakfast bar opened for our dark departure. We found great places to eat within walking distance and we were right across the road from the huge Tollwood Christmas market at Theresienwiese. The hotel is a quick, easy U-bahn ride to the city center where we found Christmas markets and gluhwein galore. Hotel Bavaria was a nice place to come home to after our full days of exploring Munich. I highly recommended this hotel!

This hotel was quite nice. The room was clean and spacious, the bathroom was slightly small - but not unusual for Europe. Everyone in staff was quite friendly and very helpful. We were able to buy transportation passes at the desk which was very welcome, a lot easier than figuring out the kiosk at the station. The hotel is a few minutes walk to the Theresienwiese U-bahn stop, one stop from the Hauptbahnhof, and only a few minutes ride to Marienplatz. Breakfast was included and very good with a nice selection of meats, cheeses, eggs, and cereals. They had a nice selection of hot teas as well. The only downside was the internet. As this was our main method of communication to home, it was quite frustrating dealing with the spotty and slow wifi. Hotel Bavaria was indeed a great place to explore the city!!

The hotel is in a good location - near enough to central station but in a nice part of town. Hop on the U-Bahn and it's a short ride to where you need to be. Also a short walk to Augustiner Brauestuben and very close to the Theresienwiese.

The service is good at reception, in the bar and in the restaurant for breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, it's very good with a tasty selection of things to munch on up until 10.30.

The rooms are fine without being remarkable, but for the price it's just fine. Bed was comfy, bathroom good, decor adequate, room was dark and quiet for sleeping. There are nice small touches too that may seem mundane but we liked - carafe and glasses for water, nice dispenser of liquid soap in the bathroom rather than the crappy little bars, and a decent hair dryer!

The wifi is a miserable mess; like so many other hotels, there is a bizarre signup system which wastes your time for no obvious benefit. Could be much better. Also, the wifi was completely down for the majority of our stay - over the weekend when they didn't have a guy in to fix it. But this is really the only negative about the hotel and shouldn't be a reason to avoid it.

Overall, a good choice of standard 3* hotel with great service for a nice stay in central Munich. We would go back.
