“Small but clean rooms”
Reviewed 24 February 2009

We stayed for 3 nights to tour Munich. The location is an easy train ride from the airport and a short walk from the station. Although it's a bit of a walk from the main square, access to the Oktoberfest grounds and nearby underground is fairly easy. We also had no trouble getting the tram to the palace. Rooms and bathrooms are pretty small, but clean. The business office and internet were really handy. Breakfast was also plentiful and tasty. There is a nice grocery just down the street, as well as several good restaurants. We really liked the thai place recommended by the hotel. We'd probably stay again, but there are probably other more luxurious hotels if you want to pay more.

Compared to our expectations based on the pictures on the hotel website, we were disappointed with the Bavaria Hotel. While most of the pictures were of very modern rooms, our room was traditional and cramped (despite paying extra for an "exclusive" room). More troubeling, the "non-smoking" room still smelled strongly of smoke. Additionally, the internet that was supposedly included in the room rate required you to watch commercials to get access.

Location is fine - it's a bit of a hike into town, but no big deal.

Overall, beyond the smoke smell, we had no particular problems, but we felt like we were victims of a bait and switch.

We stayed at the Bavaria Hotel for 4 nights in January this year. It is a great little hotel in terms of location and comfort. As soon as we walked into the hotel, we knew we were going to enjoy staying there. Well, we were not disappointed. The room is of good size, clean and comfortable and the bathroom is modern and clean as well. It has all the things you need. I like best of all the beddings. In particular the quit, it is so light , warm and luxurious.

The decor in the breakfast room is warm and welcoming and we enjoyed having our breakfast there. The bar is also a very pleasant place to have a beer or a cup of coffee, especially after a long day of sightseeing and shopping. The staff is always friendly and willing to assist. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and would recommend this hotel to all our friends and other travellers.

Stayed for 3 nights in December to explore the Christmas markets located across the city. Hotel was ideal for the Christmas Festival and tents in the nearby Octoberfest grounds, and close enough to the underground to make a good base for the rest of the city. Rooms were clean and smart, bathroom was small but immaculate.
Nice breakfast area, with plenty of choice of hot and cold food and reception staff very helpful.

Plenty of bars and restaurants nearby, some better than others. Avoid the large pizza place at the end of the street as service was awful and the restaurant cold - there are plenty of other places within walking distance though.

When returning for Octoberfest I would definately return here as the location is great, just a short walk to the park grounds.

  • Liked — Clean, good location and good price
  • Disliked — No english tv channels, but not expected.

The stay did not start well at all. We booked directly with the hotel, but there was confusion over the room type and an extra bed. In the end we were moved to an apartment within the main hotel building (there is another apartment down the road and across the street).
The apartment was very nice. Everything looked new. The rooms were large and the beds comfortable. The bathroom was very large by even American standards. We didn't use the kitchen, but while rummaging through drawers saw that it was equipped with everything you would need for daily kitchen use.
The breakfast was nice. The dining area was tastefully decorated and had beautiful picture windows. I am not sure if they open up the patio area in the summer, but looking out at it was nice. Breakfast was a spread of meats, cheeses, breads and even eggs. There was a good assortment so we were not bored for the four breakfasts we ate.
The hotel was well located with just a couple minute walk to the closest train station and only a 15 minute walk to the main train station (Hauptbahnhof). It was also a few steps away from the Oktoberfest grounds.

We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Bavaria. My room was very clean and comfortable. I'd booked a single room, although it was really big enough for two - apart from the bathroom, which was slightly on the small side. The hotel is only a five minute walk from the U-Bahn stop at Theresienwiese, which makes it very convenient for getting around the city. The breakfast was excellent and was included in my room rate; it included cereals, cheeses, cold meats, bacon and eggs. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. Munich is a great city with lots of history. The Christmas markets are really beautiful and a great way to get into the mood for Christmas and to pick up a few gifts. We made day trips to both Nuremberg and Salzburg, both of which are under two hours on the regional trains and are worth visiting (you can get a cheap ticket for up to five people travelling together called the Bayern-Ticket).

Bavaria Hotel is a great little hotel considering its low price - modern, clean rooms, friendly service, great breakfast. Its a little way out of town, right across from the Theresienwiese, so perfect if you’re in Munich for Oktoberfest - otherwise it’s one stop from the city by train. Generally the area is pretty quiet so we headed to town each day. There is a fantastic beer hall up the road and around the corner. I can’t remember the name but the hotel staff know the one. It serves great beer and hearty Bavarian food – a must do! Munich itself is quite amazing, beautiful and full of history… We loved Munich and the Bavaria Hotel.
