My husband and I spend 2 nights in Munich. Arriving by train and leaving by airplane. The location is 5 min. from the train station and bus to airport and short walk to downtown.
Bavarian charme throughout. Check in was friendly and english is spoken everywhere.
The rooms are small but charming and are clean with safe and fridge and Nespresso coffeemaker. There is a grocery store next door.
Breakfast is buffet style and very good. We will return to this property or their twin down the road for sure.
Just a caution there is extensive remodeling throughout March with much noise during the day.
Also check earlybird bookin which has to be prepaid but the price is better.

Room Tip: Club rooms to the back are more quiet

My fiance and I stayed at the Kings Hotel First Class for a weekend trip in Nov 2011. Situated literally right next to the main Munich Hauptbahnhof station, it was great to get off ther airport train and walk to our hotel! Saying that, it's down a side street so it was very quiet at night. It is a 5/10 minute walk to the mainstreet Marienplatz and about 15 minutes from the amazing Viktulienmarkt where we went for breakfast every day. I would stay here again for the location alone. You could also catch the Munich CityTour bus a couple of blocks down from the hotel.

The decor is a mish-mash of ye old Bavaria mixed with the 70s but its very nice; lots of old polished wood and chandeliers. The staff speak great Eanglish and were veyr helpful in recommending sights and restaurants for our short visit. Cannot comment on the food as we did not go to the restaurant; it was very quiet whenever we passed but we did not exactly go at the height of the season.

This hotel has the comfiest beds I have experienced in a hotel, compared to some of the 5* London hotels I've stayed in. The bathrooms were spotless; the rooms were pretty small but if you want a reasonably priced room in the very city centre then you arent going to need/want a big room as you just use it as a base.

I would definately recommend this hotel and we will be using Kings again when we return to Munich.

Hotel staff were very pleasant and all spoke English well. My room was the Royal Club room and was at the back of the hotel. The room was quiet for the most part although the walls are quite thin so I could hear people in the next room opening wardrobes and talking to each other.
There are complementary coffee pods with your own machine and also complementary mineral water.
The bathroom had a shower only but the option of 2 different shower heads. There was also a small clothes line you could pull out in the shower, and a set of bathroom scales if you want to keep track of all the Bavarian desserts you have been eating!
The hotel was easy walking distance to the main railway station and also a major shopping strip. There were a lot of strip joints close by, but even as a single female I did not feel unsafe walking around the streets of an evening. Most of the eating places close by were Persian or small pizza/kebab places so I was disappointed not to be able to find a place serving more traditional german food. The room service also lacked typical german food and there was a 2 Euro surcharge on top of the food cost.
The internet is available in the room either as WiFi or cable but you can only get 30 mins access. I found it fairly slow as well.
Breakfast was lovely with fresh fruit, cereals, cold meats and cheeses, yoghurts, cakes, fresh waffles and also hot foods (eggs, bacon, sausages, beans).
Overall a very good experience.

Room Tip: Back rooms are quieter

The traditional Bavarian style may not be to everyone's taste, heavy wood detailing throughout, but that is the only negative comment which in itself is a matter of personal taste.

That aside, the staff are helpful and friendly, the rooms clean and well maintained, breakfast is excellent and the hotel is a few minutes walk from the main station. The immediate area is not great, but better than most railway hotels.

For comfort, value, cleanliness, location it would be difficult to beat.

Room Tip: fronting the street on lower floors does get some tram and traffic noise.

I have to admit I was a bit cynical at first when I heard about this hotel. I've stayed in hotels in Munich that wer close to the railway station and they werent very good, but the Kings First Class is really really good!!
The hotel is panelled in wood almsot throughout it seems, which lends a very bavairan aspect to the place. The hotel is run with corteous efficiency and they take extreme pride in their own service standards. At the rbeakfast table is a little booklet about these standards and I've never seen anything like it - just amazing. A bit like the manager when she arrived for her morning inspection during breakfast...another thing I've never seen before.
The room was superbly deorated in a 'germanic' style, and was very comfortable if a tiny bit small. This didnt seem to matter though as the fitout and decorations made up for it. The bed was very comfortable and ahve a fake 'four poster' feel to it with a wooden thing on the ceiling. Quaint but nice. The nespresso machine in the room was a nice touch as was the complimentary mineral water.
The bathroom was good and so was the heating.
All in all a very good hotel indeed - very surprising. The location is very good, close to the mai nrailway station. I would stay here again with pleasure.

what a fantastic hotel, friendly staff who couldn't do too much for you. Room small but clean and had everything you want and mini bar reasonably priced too.

Great train service 3 minute walk away and at 18 euros for two people for 3 days what an absolute bargain.

can't wait to try in summer.

Breakfast worth every penny, champagne, smoked salmon, hot breakfasts, traditional european food.

brilliant what more can i say.

Room Tip: ask for a club room

The decor of the room was probably the most outstanding factor of the hotel - old style canopy beds and lots of dark woods. Also impressive was the nespresso machine in the room, and the complimentary bottle of water in the room: the only one encountered in my entire 12 day trip around the area. As mentioned, the hotel is conveniently located 5 minutes from the Hauptbahnhof, thus making overall transport around the city a breeze.

What was annoying however, was that there's a 30 minute cap on free internet usage per room. And this has to be obtained in the form of a voucher from the front desk, and is not actually made apparent in the materials in the room, or when checking in. Having limited free internet was definitely a downer.
