“Good choice”
Reviewed 5 November 2013

Stayed here for four nights, excellent location, very convenient for the station and trams, and easy walking to the Marienplatz. Staff were always friendly and helpful, and at reception we were able to buy all day transport tickets. The room was clean, comfortable with an excellent shower. We only had the buffet breakfast on our last morning, which was OK. but a bit pricey at E35 for two. On other mornings we ate at Rubenbauers in the station - table service, linen cloths and a choice of five different breakfasts - before setting off on our excursions.

This was a fantastic hotel. The pictures displayed are true by the other travelocity travelers. The hotel is just a block and a half from the main train station. Once inside, it has a grandious feel to it. The rooms have a royal feel (maybe why it's got its name). The room was very clean. Our room faced the back of the building and was vey quiet. The curtains made the room very dark. We had no problems with the air conditioning as mentioned by other travelocity members. While the hotel was in front of a "table dance" male entertainment, it was not an issue at all. The area was safe and there were no drunks or innappropriateness on the streets. There is a computer in the lobby with free wifi. All the desk clerk speak English and are very helpful.

The hotel is within walking distance from the main town, but you can catch a tram or the U-bahn is you need to. BTW, if you are planning a trip to the outskirts of Munich, such as Munich, buth the Bayern-Ticket. The ticket allows up to 5 adults traveling together to use unlimited all regional trains in Bavaria for one day. It is valid on all regional trains in 2nd class.
trams, buses) in Munich and other Bavarian cities and of almost all public regional bus services beyond Munich. We were 8 in our party- our ticket to Feussen and back was only 34 euros for all of us! great bargin.

The best thing I can say is that the hotel is conveniently located to trains and buses. It's in a really dumpy part of town, though. The rooms are small but clean. Small bar in the lobby. If you're touring around, you probably don't stay in the hotel room very much anyway. It's also very expensive----especially during Oktoberfest.

Last time we went to Munich we stayed in this hotel because it was so close and convenient to the train station. This time we flew into Munich to see a Bayern Munchen match before we went on to Austria, and we chose this hotel again because we liked it so much the first time. The staff are so friendly and accommodating and spoke English well. We are going back this week to fly back to the states and will stay there again! This hotel is comfortable, clean and cozy. The windows open if you want fresh air but the air conditioning works great, as well. Beds were good, linens were nice, Breakfast is amazing - I highly recommend it. I noticed a couple of reviews referring to the area as "seedy". I really don't see it. Yes, there is some sort of gentelman's club across the street, hut I didn't even notice it until I read the review. There are some great little restaurants on the street and nearby. It is very convenient for day trips since it is close to the trains and subways. I will always stay here when visiting Munich!

I had pre-booked 3 nights here and the first thing I would say is that the hotel was in an excellent location. Right near the central train station I found it an excellent spot to get to everything around Munich and for connecting with day tours.

The hotel room was very nice, the staff helpful and breakfast was absolutely excellent. I strongly recommend getting breakfast included with your room.

I extended my stay an additional 3 nights and was moved to an apartment room due to availability issues with the normal hotel rooms. The apartment room was not good. In poor condition and just not very nice. However this room was at a vastly reduced price so I cannot complain too much.

Just to confirm some of the comments in other published reviews, yes the hotel is about 5-6 minutes walk from the railway station in Munich – and it is just around the corner from another hotel by a very similar name! The street is also home to “Boobs Gentlemens Club” (!) among others and is home to a couple of vagrants, but really, it never felt threatening or especially seedy, because the area is generally busy and well lit.
Once you cross the threshold of the hotel you’re in another world, one which is all wood-panelled and lovely. Reception is manned by friendly employees all of whom have a much better grasp of English than I do of German! The bedroom was very clean, the bedding was good quality, bathroom very nice indeed and the coffee machine a nice touch. The safe is free of charge and in fact the whole hotel is very secure – your swipe card for your room also allows you to operate the lift, meaning the chance of people walking in off the street and getting up to the bedrooms is very limited indeed.
Good sleep quality and the breakfast was very good too, not just meat and cheeses but a selection of hot food as well (not just scrambled eggs and hot dogs which seems to be standard fare across Europe). All in all it was a very good place to stay, if only for one night.

Hotel is a nice and comfortable place to stay in Munich. Rooms are clean with unusal interiors. King's Hotel First Class is located near railway station (5-10 min walk), so I'll recommend it to people traveling by train.
