Just in the center of old city, it takes 2 minutes to Marienplatz, And many good restaurants are around the hotel...The hotel staffs are nice and helpful, you can check with them for all information you need. But the room price is a bit expensive...

The hotel is in a nice location within walking distance of most sights. We really enjoyed the attentive staff working at the front desk, who always met us with a smile and gave out tremendous advice on restaurants and fun local spots to visit in the area. The breakfast was good enough, although we've had better. Nonetheless, we felt very comfortable here and would recommend it to anyone staying in Munich.

After visiting Legoland in Günzburg, we decided to spend 2 days in Munich and we picked Platzl Hotel mainly because of its location and the good reviews. It came out to be the excellent choice for a 2-day family stay. The Hotel crew were friendly, the breakfast was above the average, and yes, the location was wonderful: right next to Hofbrauhaus and just 250 m away from the Marienplatz! It was also perfect for a morning running in the Englischer Garten. The hotel has also two wonderful authentic restaurants, which means that you don't have to look for a place for dinner. If I ever visit Munich again, hopefully for a Bayern match or for the Octoberfest, I don't have to search for another place!

Dear dieungutch, thanks a lot for your visit and the really good and friendly words about our hotel, the crew and our both restaurants. We hope you have the opportunity to come back soon. You know, we offer packages for stay in the platzl and also visit a footballgame of FC Bayern - therefore you haven't look for a ticket. See you soon and "auf Wiedersehen" - Heiko Buchta and team

Clean, convenient, great staff (shout out to Stefan Gabbart, who manages the front desk skillfully and seemingly effortlessly), and attractive. We would definitely stay here when we come back; large, comfortable rooms (we chose one with a full shower); very cute little bar with great bartenders. Nice breakfast buffet in the sunny breakfast room.
Excellent location within walking distance to Marienplatz and central city.
A perfect choice.

I and a colleague stayed in the Platzl hotel in the beginning of July while attending a conference in Munich and we couldn't be happier with the hotel! As many reviews already noted, the location is one of the main advantages of the hotel as it is walking distance to most things of interest. Our conference was quite far away from the center but the nearby subway made it easy to get there. The room was fairly spacious by Munich standards, clean and had everything you need. The hotel itself is fairly small, which is always a good thing in my eyes. It had an amazing Turkish baths inspired facility with sauna, steam room and massage showers which was great after long days at the conference. Breakfast deserves a separate mention I think, as it was the best hotel breakfast I've ever had with great variety of fruits, juices, sausages, pastries, yogurts, eggs made fresh on request just the way you like them. I also loved that employees were dressed in traditional clothing. Basically, the only thing I could complain about is the price, but considering the prices of most hotels in Munich, the location and service of the hotel it's probably worth it. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: A room that doesn't face Hofbrauhaus is preferable as it does tend to get loud.

Heart of the old town..EZ walk to many sights...good restaurants 1-3 blks away..do not go to the Italian La Galleria across the street..salty and overpriced...ATM directly across the street in the Post Office. Do go to the high end deli one block across the street and up the "stairs"...not too far from Subway...a little over $65 Euros from the airport...beerhalls and gardens just blocks away..Try Brenners for fine dining but not expensive!...Staff friendly and good service...incredible breakfasts...take others advice about the rooms and locations..we were not there during the truly busy season...good elevators..rooms mostly quiet...my only complaint about the room was that the darn telephone was on the desk and NOT on the night stand by the bed! This is terribly inconvenient..anyone calling you have to get out of bed to answer the phone..I solved this by unwrapping the more than extra telephone wire under the desk and stretching it across the room and putting it on a small table by the bed..not quite long enough for the night stand but adequate to not have to get out of bed...not sure the mgmt. appreciated that...ALSO as incredible as the breakfast is...it could use some more meats that are NOT PORK..yes, I know I am in Germany but enough is enough..one "veal" sausage is not enough..2 small complaints I guess but otherwise for the money at the time a good value.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
You place great importance on quality and want to be right in the middle of Munich's city life? Then Platzl Hotel Munich and its culinary offerings are the address for you. This traditional four-star Superior Hotel and its two popular restaurants - the Pfistermuhle and Wirtshaus Ayingers - are located in the heart of Munich's old city, right beside the famous Hofbrauhaus. And just a short walk from the Marienplatz, the Bavarian State Opera, Maximilianstrasse and Viktualienmarkt. The Inselkammer family and its team combine Bavarian hospitality and traditional style elements with a modern lifestyle and state-of-the-art technology. It begins with a warm welcome in the foyer, continues through the 167 guest rooms and only ends when you leave Munich through the city's historic quarter. This combination of tradition and modernity also creates the ideal setting for private celebrations such as birthdays or weddings, but also conferences and seminars. Your visit should also include a taste of the culinary offerings at our two restaurants - because gastronomy has a long tradition at the Platzl. As early as the beginning of the last century, the Platzl stage was graced not just by cabaret giants such as Karl Valentin. Good Bavarian food also made repeat appearances, being served to guests before and after the performances. Today, the Pfistermuhle is synonymous with sophisticated Bavarian cuisine - at Munich's only preserved city mill. Since the year 2000, people from Munich and elsewhere have enjoyed the hearty regional dishes at Wirtshaus Ayingers, which is next door, while the charming stores and eateries in the "Platzlgassen" add to the lively atmosphere in the Platzl. Our outside bar the Platzl Karree presents a unique bar concept in Munich's old town. Because of the stylish and yet down-to-earth design the fine balancing act between tradition and modernity with the Platzl Karree is perfectly realized. The dominating colors anthracite with burgundy and the dark parquet flooring create a bar to relax and enjoy. In the new Josefa Bar & Kaffee we serve locally produced unique spirits, cool beverages with herbs freshly from the Viktualien market and own cocktail creations. ... more   less
