“Hotel Koniegshof, Munich -- Excellent Choice”
Reviewed 20 August 2012

The Hotel Koenigshof is an excellent hotel, if somewhat on the high end of pricing. It is definitely worth the cost if you are looking for a very positive and welcoming staff (from the Bellmen, to reception, bar staff and housekeeping). In addition, it is perfectly located if you want to tour some of the most interesting sites in Munich in a short amount of time. Just across the busy plaza is the most popular shopping area in town, where many cafes are located, many high-end and traditional shoppes, the Rathskeller, St. Patricks Cathedral and some of the most interesting open markets and beer gardens.

The only down side is that because of its location, it can be noisy at night. Sirens of emergency vehicles going to local hospitals are the loudest, but if you can survive that, it's an excellent choice.

The hotel is situated in a convenient location and the staff were friendly and helpful. Not long after we checked in, I enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing bath using the luxurious foam bath provided in a delightfully immense bathtub. The breakfast restaurant supplied a wide range of tasty treats and the decor and silver service were superb. We also enjoyed relaxing in the grand lobby.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Koenigshof. It's within walking distance to all the sights, with the exception of the English Garden. It's a 10-minute walk from the train station (which is also where the Lufthansa airport bus drops off passengers from Munich Airport). Although the exterior doesn't look like much, the interior exudes "Old-World Charm" with modern conveniences. The front desk staff was friendly, helpful, and patiently listened to us as we struggled with German. A request for an iron and ironing board was promptly fulfilled. I agree that internet is easily accessible. There is a little, hotel-owned wine store downstairs with a friendly, knowledgeable merchant, where we purchased wine to have in our room. The spa is nice too, with a sauna, steam room and hot tub. The beds are comfy and the bathtub is fantastic!

Room Tip: Try for a room at the front of the hotel, with a view of the square. Our room had bathtub and shower...

This hotel is 'old world European' 5 star charm. We had a few small problems initially, but spoke to Christian at reception. Almost immediately, we had Theodur Gandheimer, from the mangement board, contacting us to rectify the situation.
I have never had such a prompt and satisfactory result before from any hotel reception/mnagement team, and this certainly made for a very pleasant stay at this hotel. Theodur was most apologetic that we had had any problems at all.
The hotel is in an excellent location. You can easily reach it from Munich airport by train, as the train station stops right at the hotel front door.
The hotel is also right in the heart of the city, perfect for tourists. Thy have two bicycles available, if you are so inclined for a ride around Munich.
The beds were vey comfortable, the rooms quiet, and climate control worked well. Internet easily accessible.
The bathrooms are a bit small, and we could only comfortably fit in one at a time.
housekeeping service is also prompt and eficient for items we requeted - extra pillows, extra water, electric kettle.

We were here for 2 nights and loved our pretty room with high ceiling and fabulous bath. The common areas were comfortable. The restaurant was wonderful. Some street noise in the wee hours...buses and trash pickup.
