KING's HOTEL Center
Ranked #53 of 385 Hotels in Munich
Reviewed 23 September 2012

This hotel met or exceeded our expectations. The location was excellent: a short walk from the railway station, so very convenient on arrival and departure. Given thenstation is also a meeting point for many tours from Munich this convenience factor cannot be overlooked. Karlsplatz a 15 minute walk away.

As for the hotel itself, wifi worked OK (but was not free), breakfast at €12 was good value. The rooms themselves were compact but clean, and the beds (2 singles pushed together) were comfortable. Bathroom, again, was compact but shower was good quality.

Beware of pricing stricture though...pricing changes depending on what events might be happening in Munich. Our first rate was €79 for the first night, but as we were leaving the rate had skyrocketed to €220 as Octoberfest approached. To be fair though...it seems this happens throughout Munich, so criticising Kings Center for this practice is unfair. The only advice I can offer is to be aware of the rate for all nights of your stay.

All in all though...I'd be glad to stay here again.

This is a nice hotel. Nothing exceptional. The location is excellent, being just a short walk from the train station. (make sure you use the back alley shortcuts). The decoration of the room is a little over the top with the canopy bed, etc. The weather was quite warm and the air conditioner wasn't really working properly. However the room was clean and the bed comfortable. That is normally what I look for and expect. I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: If it is warm, check out the air conditioner when you first arrive.

This hotel really and truly is 5 minutes walk from the central railroad station. I took the train from Munich airport with my luggage and then was able to walk easily to the hotel (same thing on the way back). The hotel was very clean and decorated in a cute Bavarian style. The staff was very kind and helpful. All the buses and trams go right near the hotel so it is very convenient. I actually walked everywhere, the hotel was that centrally located. The hotel room was very quiet and the hotel also had a garage and breakfast (which I did not use or didn't eat) both of these are extra but useful to those who need them.

Room Tip: In the back of the hotel.

This hotel is in a great location within easy walking distance to the main Munich station, restaurants and the old town. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, both over the phone when booking and in person on arrival. We drove and parked in the public lot two doors down, where you get a discount when the hotel stamps your ticket. The hotel does have a very small garage too. We had two rooms as we are a family of 5. They were both double rooms, one was a suite with a pull out sofa bed. These rooms are large, for European standards, and very clean. The suite could have slept 2 adults and 2 children easily. The hotel had elevators. There is an additional charge for breakfast for adults, but well worth it for the buffet style. There were many choices of cereal, meats, cheeses, breads, pastries and some hot eggs and meats. The walk to Karlstor, the start of the old town area, is about 10 minutes at a good pace. Lots of take away food places, bakeries, and restaurants on the way.

The King's Hotel Center hotel is easy to get to from the Hauptbahnhof (main train station). It's an easy 2 block walk from the station; every amenity you need are very close by.

The hotel staff is friendly and professional. The hotel itself is compact and very clean. It has an elevator and is decorated in a traditional ornate decor (not quite our style). The bathroom is clean, modern and cozy, but has everything you can possibly need. As already stated, the rooms are quite small, however, if you're just passing through Munich, it's a great spot and is a good choice for your money.

Marienplatz and the Hofbrauhaus are within easy walking distance of the hotel (10-15 minutes), and there is a shopping plaza close by, which is across from the train station.

The Oktoberfest wiesen are also within an easy 20 minute walk. The hotel is quiet and backs onto a residential alley way.

Overall, this is a good choice. Fair value for your money, close to the trains and accessible to all attractions in Munich!

This hotel is in the perfect location if you want to go on tours, walk round the City, or when you arrive and leave as it is round the corner from the railway station, and the Lufthansa airport bus leaves from there, too. That said, the rooms are small and when you first arrive you wonder if you'll ever sleep as it is on a main road. However, the rooms are to the back and very quiet. Staff are lovely and there is an oasis of calm in the shape of a little garden with outdoor seats. Our only 2 complaints about the room were there are no tea and coffee making facilities and there are no drawers at all, so we had to leave our cases packed and scrabble around in them for 4 days. We would certainly go back, and found it great value. Decor takes a bit of getting used to!

The rooms are comfortable and clean, the location is very convenient (in a safe area just a couple of blocks from the train station, and a 15 min walk from the pedestrian center of Munich), and the staff members are friendly and helpful. Our top-floor courtyard-facing club room was good sized and quiet, and the in-room Nespresso machine was a nice touch.

The only thing to watch out for is that the doors tend to stay slightly ajar unless you shut them very hard, so we accidentally slept with our door open one night, and another day came back to the room to see that housekeeping had left it open – the front desk indicated this is an issue with the doors in the hotel. But the hotel security is relatively good, with a keycard in the elevator.

Overall a great value, and I would definitely stay here again!
