Our experience at this hotel SUCKED. Let me count the ways:
1.) We made a reservation in advance with Booking.com, a site we've used in the past with great success. We reserved a single room for my mother and a double room for myself and my fiancee. Somehow, the double room had "a problem with the reservation" because of some kind of festival or market in town. We accepted a single room with a promise of a "discount" from the night manager, and as a result my fiancee and I got crammed into a single room with an "emergency bed" on the FLOOR. Better yet, this "emergency bed" consisted of WOODEN PALLETS with a thin pad on top. I slept like crap, when I was even able to nod off. But, while I was awake, I had plenty of time to feel the cold coming up off the floor - which was only 4 inches from my body.
2.) The next morning, when going check out, we informed the day manager (a grumpy older man that I've read about in other reviews) of the situation. He didn't care one bit. He was rude, accused us of trying to defraud him / get the room for free, and FINALLY acquiesced to a 10 Euro discount. So, that brought us down to the price of a single room. Effectively he was telling me he thought I didn't exist, since "you still had one person sleep on a bed so we charge you the single room rate." There was simply no reasoning with him and of course "the owner is not here until Monday." We finally paid just to be through with him.
As far as the room itself, it was very narrow. It reminded me of a college dormitory from 30 years ago. The shower dripped all over the floor and there was no spillover drain so the next morning we walked in freezing / gross standing water. No soap or amenities were provided and only one towel that was on its 5000th wash and could stand up by itself it was so stiff.
That said, the one plus of this hotel is its location. If you can drug yourself with enough NyQuil to sleep on a wooden plank, it's only a 5 minute walk from the Marienplatz.
Bottom line, I absolutely would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone, ever, and suggest you stay far far away from this place.
