Agree with previous reviews really. Location very good - between main station and historic centre, both just a few minutes walk away. Set down a side street, it misses the hustle and bustle and we weren't bothered by any late night noise. Room was very clean and comfortable and suited our needs. It was a little small but I guess that is what you might expect at a boutique size hotel. No coffee making facilities in the room - which is unusual. Agree with other reviewers - breakfast very nice with plenty of choice. Used a couple of very reasonable priced restaurants whilst there Vi Vada (Italian - part of hotel by that name) and Augustiner Brau (traditional local) - both within 10 minutes walk of the Eder.

Room Tip: No lift, so if you are bothered by stairs ask for a room on the ground/ first floor.

Hotel Eder was our first stop in Germany and we are so glad we chose this hotel. We had mapped out the hotels close to the train station and from the pictures we saw online it appeared to be clean and neat. The price was also reasonable. It is about 2 1/2 blocks from the train station and also from where the tour buses depart. We walked down the side street for the hotel and the road was under construction. Once inside we never heard any noise, construction, street or city noises. The room was small but clean and neat. A cleaning lady came in every day of our stay and was very thorough. When you open the door to exit your room the hall lights automatically go on. Management was friendly and helpful, providing us with maps and local information. One drizzly day they offered us umbrellas. The lovely buffet breakfast would have cost us $15 each here in the U.S. Meats, cheese, eggs, fresh fruit, cereal, pastries, homemade breads, juice were a part of their offering and all included in the room rate. Presentation and qualilty of the food was wonderful. We highly recommend the Hotel Eder. Our 17 year old grand daughter was equally impressed.

Room Tip: We had a back room on the second floor which was wonderful. Since there was no outside noise or dist...

Recently returned from Germany/Austria....We stayed at the Hotel Eder for 2 days. Breakfast- wonderful! Size of room was great, bathroom great....be aware if you aren't very mobile, that there is not elevator (lift). We were on the top floor (4 floors!) and we counted...86 stairs that we climbed at least twice per day!

The hotel is within a 5-8 minute walk of the main train station in Munich.

Thankfully I'd been hiking before going to Europe, so it wasn't terribly bad, but it was still a workout. Take your time coming down with your luggage, better (if there's two of you) to take turns helping each other so you don't throw your back out like I did!

The staff is extremely helpful here! And...best of all...when I left, I'd forgotten my electrical convertor (so I could plug in my ipod) in the wall. I sent them an email and asked if it might still be there....totally expecting that it was now gone. Nope! They had located it and put it aside for me to pick up. THAT ranks HIGH in my books!!!! HONESTY and INTEGRITY!!!!!

You may wish to ask for a room on the quiet side (if there is one in downtown Munich!) of the hotel. We were woken at 0500hrs by the streetcleaners. It's also next to a casino, so there can be noise from patrons of that establishment in the wee hours.

Overall though, a great stay here!

We chose The Eder for several reasons - it's a small family-run more traditional Bavarian hotel as opposed to the modern chain hotels you get in every city. Also, it was near the Railway Station (so easy to get to) and also 5-10 mins walk to Karlsplatz and Marianplatz for restaurants, sightseeing, shopping etc. And the reviews on Tripadvisor described it as clean and comfortable which is basically what we were after for a couple of nights in Munich. Obviously, there is no lift there so if you have a lot of heavy luggage probably it's best to ask for a room on a lower floor.

Our room was certainly clean and comfortable even though the bathroom was a little tight space-wise. The staff were friendly, helpful and spoke good English, and the breakfasts were very pleasant in the mornings - meats and cheeses, juices, coffee on the table, fruit and yoghurt, bread and jams and boiled eggs in the basket (didn't find them the first day we were there). Our first night, we dined in the 'Augustiner Brau' restaurant on Marianplatz which was very good, and the second night, as we had walked alot during the day, we went with a recommendation from reception for a restaurant just minutes down the back road 'Alt Gesellenhaus' which was also very good - we ate in the little courtyard/garden area.

My initial concerns about being in an area close to the Railway Station (sometimes usually seedy) were unfounded as the side street felt safe and quiet even though there is a casino nextdoor. There were some pretty major roadworks outside the front door of the hotel, but we didn't hear any noise from them at all while we were staying but then again we were out all day. So, overall, we had a happy stay, and would gladly book again if ever we should return to Munich.

Room Tip: Choose a lower floor as no lift. The quietest rooms are probably at the back of the hotel.

I stayed for 4 nights during a very crowdy time in Munich. It is simple and comfortable, has an excellent location, very close to Hauptbahnhof, very close to Karlplatz, very clean, frendly personnel, excellent breakfast. The bathroom was a little small, but considering the fair price it was a very nice package.

This is a small mom & pop hotel locate about 2 blocks from the central train station in Munich. It is off the main street (Bayerstrassa) so it is quiet.
All the inter city, suburban, and urban trains come into this station as well as a lot of the buses and trams so it is easy to get from here to anywhere in Munich. I stayed in a single room and it was about 8 feet wide by 12 feet long with a tiny bathroom. I was in room 49, which is on the ground floor. The hotel serves a nice German breakfast (meats, breads, cereals, milk, orange juice, coffee, fruits). The rooms are spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable. The one drawback is that it is not air conditioned. So this can be an issue if it gets hot. I was fortunate and the weather was just right. I slept with the windows open which kept it cool. My windows faced the courtyard so I didn't get any traffic noise, but I did get noise from people sitting in the courtyard and talking until late in the evening.

This is not a fancy hotel. It is a good basic place to lay your head at night that is convenient to the entire city. I stayed three nights and was happy for the inexpensive price and great location.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the courtyard, not the street if you want a quiet room

We were only in Munich for two days and walked around the city a lot, coming back only to crash at night. The hotel Eder worked very well for such an agenda. It is a very nice, simple hotel, that is an easy walk to the train station. It is only about 10-15 minutes, by foot, to the city center as well. The rooms, while small, had everything we needed, as well as being clean and comfortable. The staff at the front desk were very nice, even having breakfast ready early for us due to a morning flight. Breakfast was solid, albeit not memorable. The free wifi was nice to have at night and worked fine. All in all a nice little place.
