“Could not stay in a room until sun set”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2014

We stayed this hotel in mid May. A lady at reception was friendly but very small and bit dark reception area (Impression was different from photo of reception in website). Our room faced opposite to street side and the sun heating up our room and we can not open windows fully without open curtains, which bring strong sun into the room. Room are small and basic. Pillow was so small and almost non existent. There are no extra pillow either. I have read others review before making reservation to this hotel. May be our room 606 was worst one???? Location is very close to the station and convenient. Breakfast was good and dining room was good compared to standard of our room. There is only one lift and we have to wait a long time while hotel staff using the lift. Do not stay room 606 if you book a room. We stayed two nights. It was hot summer day of 27C. There is no air condition in a room. So better not book this hotel in summer.

Room Tip: Do not book this hotel in Summer. Bring your own pillow

I have stayed at this hotel many times on business trips to Munich and I keep coming back for several reasons. The best thing the hotel has going for it is the location: it is literally next to the main train station, the U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus stops. It is also just a 10 to 15 minute walk from the historic centre and Marienplatz. Something to be aware of: Schillerstraße is also the red light district and there is a sex shop right opposite the hotel. It is not really a seedy area though - I've never been bothered - and you don't need to go far. The next thing I like about the hotel is the service which has always been exceptionally friendly. Between each other the two ladies that usually man (as it were) the reception speak all major European languages. Leaving my luggage there until my departure was never a problem, neither was getting some cutlery from the breakfast room for my takeaway dinner. The breakfast buffet is not huge but it offers a comprehensive and fresh continental breakfast and you can order a few extras such as an omelette or specialty coffees. I find it worth it because you don't have to pay extra for a huge breakfast buffet that you can't eat all of anyway. The rooms are not the most modern - the TV sets are tiny and very old. They do come with glasses and a fridge/mini bar. Nowadays there is also free wifi in all rooms and I felt the cleaning staff do a thorough job. I got clean towels every day even though I didn't ask for them. What could be improved is the soundproofing for rooms facing the street (because Schillerstraße stays busy until late at night) and tea/coffee making facilities in the room. On the whole the place offers as good value for money as you can expect from a hotel in the centre of Munich.

Room Tip: Rooms on lower floors that face Schillerstraße can be quite noisy at night because that street stays...

6 of us stayed at this hotel for a girls weekend away. It's about a 5 minute walk from the Main station (45 minute train ride from the airport) opposite a C & A ( I didn't realise these still existed!).
We had 2 rooms between us which were both clean and tidy. One had a balcony. Clean towels were provided daily and the rooms are equipped with a hairdryer. The street outside is a bit noisey at night, however if the windows and door is closed, you actually don't hear any of it!
Breakfast is served 7-10, and is continental. Rolls, Ham, Cheese and some cereal.
Overally for the price we paid, I thought it was a good basic hotel. In a good location to walk to the sites.
The street it is located in looks a bit shady, with people gathered around late at night but we did not have any problems.

Hotel is near the main station. Location is good if you need to travel by train. Room is clean but small. Time to replace the squeaky wooden bed, soft mattress and unusable pillows. Can only be used as a transit hotel.

The hotel is located at the center of the city, few steps from the station. The hotel was nice and the person at reception was really helpful. The room was small but good enough for 1 person and a short stay.

Spent 3 nights here as a stop over on our way home from Nepal and India. It would be hard to be closer to the central train station. There is U and S train escalator literally 20 meters from the hotel front door.

We stayed in room 112 which face an internal courtyard and was quite. This room was next to the tiny elevator but we never heard the elevator. The rom was good sized especially for central Munich. The bath was very large but odd shaped. The shower was a bath tub with a folding glass shower screen that was odd but functional.

The breakfast room and breakfast were top notch for a tourist class hotel. Large room with a wall of windows looking out onto Schiller Strasser. Table service eggs and coffee along with a buffet of cold items including bread, fruit, meats and cheese. Just awesome.

The TV is a relic and had no English speaking channels.

At less than 90 euro per night this was a great value.

Not luxury but clean and functional but the carpets are I desperate need of replacement.

Came for the United V Munich Game.
The Room was clean and the hotel was also.
Nice size room.
Staff really friendly and spoke fluent English.
There is a bit of noise from the street at night, but this depends on which side your room is located, and also if there a football match on involving an English club!

Room Tip: We had a smoking room!!
