Stayed at Hotel Heigl for 4 nights to attend Oktoberfest and see some local sights in Germany and Austria. The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly and very helpful! We did not take advantage of the breakfast so I can not comment on this amenity. We did have a car so the free parking was good. Access to public transport was relatively convenient with the bus stop right by the hotel, but as others have commented it was about 30 minutes to city centre and required a combination or bus and train travel. This might be confusing for some. The location did not offer many options for nearby restaurants, bars or groceries. We were disappointed that the restaurant next to the hotel with the lovely patio was closed on weekends and even closed early on weeknights. We were told they closed earlier to avoid drunk patrons returning from Oktoberfest.

The rooms were clean and typical of Germany from what we experienced. I did not like that we did not have a/c or in room temperature control. It was difficult to sleep well in a warm room (poor air flow even when window was open) with only a comforter. Also we didn't care for the bed being constructed of two twin mattresses pushed together with two twin comforters. Wasn't ideal for newlyweds. This is less of a criticism of this particular hotel though, and more of a comment of all more traditional hotels in Germany. It is also common in Europe to not have ice machines. Just something for Westerners to keep in mind.

The price was very high, but all hotel rates were significantly inflated for Oktoberfest. Considering what other hotels were charging for comparable rooms, we accepted we couldn't do much better (about $250/nt). Would still recommend this hotel for a quiet, clean place to stay.

We went here for the Oktoberfeest and we spent 2 good nights. This hotel is in the suburb of munichen so the centre is not reachable quickly (app 30 minutes by bus) but it is managable. The room are well maintained, clean and sleeping quality is fine. There is a large and good breakfast.
Only one bad point : there is only internet connection per room so when you are 3 in the room, it is not really convenient...
The price was quite expensive at this time so they offer to all of us the breakfast which was quite nice...

A delightful small hotel set in the leafy southern suburbs of Munich. Rooms very comfortable and the breakfast superb in a wonderful glass conservatory set into the garden. Ample parking so that those with a car are helped. The bus stops outside the front door and within 4 stops you are at Solin station for the S Bahn to the centre of Munich. The hotel sells you a daily couple pass for 10.60EU and this covers all the transport. Great value for money, comfortable bedding and the restaurant across the way offers typical Bavarian food served by waitresses in dirndl. A good choice and all hotel staff particular helpful. Also quite a few nice shops around the area.

My 15 y.o. son and I (mom) traveled around Germany for 2 weeks, and honestly, this was the best hotel in which we stayed. The room was gigantic, we literally turned on some music and danced around...just because we had the space to do so! The bed was quite comfortable and the bathroom was pretty big and totally private. That's saying something since the other hotel bathrooms were SUPER tiny and a couple had embarrassingly little privacy. The staff was friendly and helpful, if not always readily available. It seems there was only one person working the front desk at a time, and a few times when I went to the desk for questions, it took several minutes for the employee to get there. Totally understandable as there's a lot more to do than just sit at the front desk. I also appreciated the fact that we didn't have to walk up a flight of stairs to get to the first floor. It's situated in a quiet, cozy little neighborhood, about a 20 minute travel to the city by bus and s-Bahn. It was a quick 2 minute walk, if that, to get to the bus stop. We didn't have time to eat the breakfast, but it smelled good every time we passed it.

This delightful property is a 20-minute subway or tram ride from the central city...but it's an easy connection and the ride is worth it. Travelers should know that if they arrive in Munich by train they can ride the city's public transport for free. The Heigl is in a neighborhood of gardens, restaurants and stores that more resembles a town, than a suburb of a large city. The property is extremely well maintained; there is a nice lobby for sitting and chatting; the rooms are quiet. The owners make you feel welcome in every way. The breakfast was the best I had on a two-week trip in Europe--interesting delicacies and treats along with standard cheese, cold cuts and eggs. You will need to furnish your own shower cap and shampoo, as the property provides a dispenser "all-purpose body wash-shampoo"---as is becoming common in many hotels to avoid soap bar waste. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Noise wasn't an issue....I was truly surprised at breakfast to see how many people were staying there, because it was quite quiet when I came in after evening concerts.
