My husband and I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights this past weekend. The hotel is right on Tal which is great because it's close to everything HOWEVER it's also noisy. Our room was on the top floor facing the street. The first night it was no problem but on the second night some locals parked ther car just outside the hotel, were blasting music with windows open and yelling at 5am. With windows closed it was a no go on the sleep. This went on for 30 mins. I was about to ask reception to call the cops because it was unbearable. Then it stopped ( I guess someone called before me). The breakfast is really great with lots of choices and fresh fruit and breads. They have very limited parking behind the hotel, so we had to park at a city parking garage at 15 euro per day (make sure you have your parking ticket validated at the hotel). Overall good hotel but small rooms, limited parking on site and noisy location are definitely minuses.

WE love the Hotel Schlicker when an evening in the heart of downtown Munich is what we want. Great location, wonderful staff, QUIET rooms in the back courtyard. Breakfast is always a treat and parking is SO EASY! Love it!

We stayed here for 4 nights, the first week in June. The room was towards the back of the hotel on the 3rd floor and it was super quiet even with the windows open. We have stayed in 5 star hotels in Munich and this particular room was as large. It was very clean and well appointed. I do wish the towels were a little more plusher. The breakfast was great. If one asks they cook eggs to order! It seems most of the clientel were older Europeans. And of course the location can't be beat, close to most everything, including a taxi stand next to the hotel. Would most definitely stay here again if we ever visit Munich again. English spoken here.

Room Tip: Call and ask or email. They speak English

Hotel Schlicker is a fantastic choice for Munich. Great location near Marienplatz, perfect for stumbling home after too many Weisbiers! THe staff was very accomodating and spoke english well. Beds very comfortable and breakfast was good.
The room was small but for two people we didn't find it too cramped.
One thing to note...since it is near Marienplatz, you may have noise on a Friday or Saturday night from late night partiers. We slept fine, only waking up once or twice. If this bothers you, you can ask for a room away from the street for a small premium (40 euro) but you have to specify in advance.
Hotel Schlicker is fantastic and I would recommend it a thousand times over to anyone traveling to Munich!

For us, this was quite the find. We generally walk around wherever we want to stay & then decide based on location, price, wifi & other priorities of the moment. Today's priorities were price, air conditioning, internet & parking.

We'd checked at a few other hotels nearby & found none as close to Hotel Schlicker's price. They don't have wifi but they do have free LAN internet (though it logs you off every 5 minutes so you have to keep active). The sheets are much better than most places (I am a sheet freak). Parking is ten euros a day but that's better than the parking garages nearby & we're in the middle of everything.

The air conditioning here is wonderful. In fact, it's the only hotel we've found so far WITH air conditioning.

We're in a room on Tal (the busy street) but we love the sound of people enjoying themselves (we're both from big cities so crowd sounds are not troublesome to us). There are many rooms not on Tal so it's not the only option. Plus, when we close the windows the sound is very minimal.

You can smoke in the rooms on the first floor.

Breakfast is included. There is a mini bar.

Yes, the double room consists of two singles pushed together with two comforters but that's how it is in most every hotel in Europe. It's that way in France & Italy & Spain & Portugal & the Czech Republic & Finland & Sweden & Norway & on cruise ships. Unless you get a "matrimonial" bed which is quite rare. I have no issue with that. That's the norm.

Plus, I love the color scheme of this room. Lemon yellow. It makes me happy just sitting here.

We just spent 3 nights here and it was great. Breakfast buffet was delicious and included in the room rate. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The location (aside from being nestled between a BK and Mc'd's) is great. A 2 minute walk to Viktualienmarket, Marienplatz, a train station, about 4 minute walk to Hofbrauhas and right across the street from Schneider Weissesbrahaus, which in my opinion, ranks up there as among the best tasting beer in the world. Everything in the rooms was new, they appear to be recently modernized and updated, and they have air conditioning. Avoid a room facing the street if there's a soccer match going on. Beds were a little hard, but that seems the norm here. We would stay here again.

Central location, only minutes from Marienplatz. Easy access on train from airport. Small rooms. Traveled in summer and the hotel did not have air conditioning. Not a problem most of the time, but a detriment on hot days of summer. Could hear a lot of street noise since windows had to be open.
