The museum was a great place to visit with so many exhibits that it could take a week to go through them all in detail. The only issue from a traveler perspective is that very, very few exhibits had English descriptions. This made it somewhat cumbersome when trying to determine what the newer technology displays were pointing out. But overall a fascinating place to visit as well as get a different perspective on world events than your own.

This is a great museum. The place is huge. You can easily spend all day touring the museum. Some of the displays are only in German, but are good anyway.

Focused on Bavaria, this museum is not limited to it. For example, there is an excellent collection of china from Meissen in addition to the one from Nymphenburg. The 30-place silver table setting is magnificent, and the Tilman Riemenschneider carvings and the splendid medieval ivories are also wonderful. This time there was a great special exhibition featuring handbags and purses from the 16th to 21st centuries. That exhibition, however, was the only part of the museum that many any concessions to non-German readers. This museum needs a good PR person to give it some publicity; it also needs to accept that it will continue to be largely ignored unless it takes tourists into account. There's great stuff here. It needs to be highlighted.

We visited the museum today and were dissapointed with the english audio guide not being available. To make it worse all the descriptions for the exhibits were in german. So all we could do is look at the exhibits without understanding anything. How much does it take yo just add english descriptions?
