Stayed here in August 2013 with my infant daughter and husband.

Location is excellent - around the corner from the Mandarin Oriental and just a few blocks walk to the center of town, shops, restaurants, etc.

We had a 2 room garden suite with kitchenette. The refridgerator came stocked as a minibar but the staff removed the items within so we could use it to keep our own items cold. The bed was very comfortable and outfitted with fluffy pillows (none of those flat jobs that seem to be the norm at many hotels). The little fire escape terrace was a nice to have as well and overlooked the interior courtyard.

The hotel set up a travel crib along that was quite clean and served us well. We were able to "park" our stroller in an adjacent hallway since it would not fit in the elevator and I didn't want to have to drag it up up 2 flights of stairs.

There are pay per use washers and dryers in the hotel lobby which is a wonderful amenity albeit the coin operated system has its pitfalls (we essentially had to run down to the lobby at the exact moment or be shut out of the machine)

On the downside, our room only had a small shower which made bathing a baby a little bit difficult. And lastly as mentioned by previous reviewers, there were no non-news English channels which would have been very nice to have during our jet lagged evenings.

Overall a great stay and would highly recommend them.

My daughter and I spent 12 days in June at the Maximilian Munich, it is an oasis of peacefulness in the middle of a very busy city. Its location was close to restaurants, stores and public transportation. We had a studio with a balcony overlooking a Rose Garden with 2 chairs and a table. For our length of stay we liked having the kitchenette in our room and the use of a washer and dryer. The bathroom was wonderful complete with bathrobes and a strong shower. The studio was very clean with updated furniture plus free WI-FI with no connection issues. We had the mini bar items removed and made good use of the refrigerator by buying food items at a nearby grocery store which is located an Tal (turn right at the end of the hotel's street) Another close-by store that was convenient was Muller also located on Tal (turn left). It carries familiar household, beauty and food products.
My only cons have already been stated in previous reviews by others: There were no English speaking TV channels except for the news-the DVDs were not offered to us. We were not told about the smaller breakfast which we would of enjoyed. Also I wished a suite for 3 adult family members would be offered. The Maximilian only offers 1 bedroom suites to families with 2 adults and 2 small children. I would of taken a 1 bedroom suite so another family adult member (who was only in town for a few days of our vacation) could of stayed with us but instead they had to stay at another hotel in a single room. The family apartment was not available during our stay.
Overall it was great to unpack and have a home away from home. I would return to the Maximilian Munich.

We went to Munich to complete a job needed there and decided to go a few days early as we like Munich a lot. we wanted somewhere a bit nicer than the usual Hilton so had a look on Tripadvisor for hotels with good reviews and found the Maximilian.

This hotel is tucked away in the centre of Munich. When you first pull up the exterior doesn't offer much and you are a little nervous but that diminished the second you walk in. The staff are immediately warm and attentive and make you feel at home. The Hotel is lovely. We had a room with a garden balcony on the first floor. Everywhere was incredibly clean , modern and up to date. The balcony was a proper balcony which had table and chairs on and overlooked the beautiful rose gardens which are the centre piece of the hotel. We had a small kitchenette with a little bar and everything you could need. The Bathroom was finished to a very high quality and with clean, fresh and fluffy towels that were actually proper bath sheets. The shower was superb too. The bed was comfy and the linen of a very high standard. There was loads of storage so you could unpack and stay in complete comfort!

There a TV and DVD player in the room and whilst there was one English news channel they rectified this by loaning us English DVD's!

We ate Breakfast and dinner in the restaurant and all was of a very high quality and nothing was too much trouble. One breakfast we came down late to breakfast and they made us fresh eggs as what was there had been standing and they weren't there wish scolding looks at our late arrival, but there with smiles and interest in the plans for our day! The food here is lovely, it isn't cheap but it is all to a very high standard though it is more for those with a complex palate, though they happily adopted food for my other half who is a plain and fussy eater.

We had a weekend here but as we were able to sit out on the balcony or the terrace of the restaurant we came away feeling we had a lovely treat and a nice little holiday! we would definitely go back.. Whats more is I filled out their comment card telling them we had a lovely time. It asked for feedback and I said the breakfast could be considered expensive for the days when you want a quick breakfast before business and don't want to feast on the ample buffet and more English channels would be nice for when you simply want to kick back and watch TV.

This was the part of the lovely email I received back from them -

We were especially delighted by your kind lines, which mean a great motivation for our staff!
Hopefully we can welcome you back again soon! We actual working on a new TV System
and planning more English TV channels as well.

Regarding the breakfast we would like to let you know that we offer a small breakfast
and a quick breakfast now. Both of them are not so expensive as the full breakfast buffet.

I will always smile when I think of my stay in Munich :O)

Room Tip: ask for a garden room so you can see the beautiful gardens

What a fantastic place to stay while in Munich. The hotel is a mere steps from everything in more or less a quiet, neighborhood setting.

We stayed 4 nights at the beginning of the month. We were on the top floor (5th) in a nice suite/apartment like room with a large living/dining/bedroom area, great bathroom and a small kitchen. The only complaint about the room was the heat from the sun on the roof and through the skylights overwhelmed the a/c and it was a challenge keeping it comfortable during the day. Add to that the fact that opening any window shuts down the a/c as does removing your key card from the "electric slot" next to the front door (which the maid did every day) and this could be a very uncomfortable room in July/August.

Here's a tip: Breakfast is 18 Euros each and definitely not worth it. (The food is not bad, it's just not worth 18 Euros.) There is a coffee maker in the kitchen and a refrigerator. Go a couple of blocks to the grocery store and buy some fruit. Each morning, send someone a block away to the bakery and pick up some pastries and enjoy breakfast in your room.

Room Tip: Try and avoid a top floor room in warmer weather. There are some rooms that face the rear rose garden that look like they have small terraces. You may wish to ask about them.

We stayed here five nights, in room #1, a studio on the first floor, facing the garden. We had reserved a city studio, but were "upgraded", however you couldn't actually see the garden unless you stood on tiptoes and looked out the windows. But, it was nice to have the quietness of a room facing the garden, although the street was pretty quiet. The location was excellent, near Marienplatz, and about ten min walk from the subway. The service was excellent...we arrived at 9am, and were able to check in! The room was well appointed, and had plenty of closet space. I would have liked a comfy chair or couch instead of the table, since the room already had a breakfast bar. There was daily light cleaning, with one change of sheets and towels. Fresh flowers, nice robe and slippers and very spacious bathroom. Bed was kind of hard, but that is a personal preference. The breakfast buffet was generous, with some hot food, as well as plenty of fruit and cheese, and cold cuts. However, the price, at 18 euros, was too much. We ate there once or twice, for the convenience, because we hadn't been able to get groceries (note--stores are closed on sundays!).
