The stay at leoppold hotel munich from 27/30 June2011 was memorable, Its very close to metro station where we bought partner tickets for three days four person 22 Euro.
service at Hotel is good clean rooms we paid EURO116.33 perday for our neat and clean room at second floor No distrubence and View to the smallgarden of hotel
internet facitlies in room but at Hotel one can use internet if he is carrying laptop without charges.

Hotel internet at Receiption was not fast.

Choice for breakfast was good enough. We like the breakfast of Hotel we request for hard Boiled egg which was given to us

We say its worth staying there we booked the room online.

We arrived to Leopold and we had to move to Frankfurt two days later, but the hotel was so nice, Munich so lovely, and the hotel staff so wonderful that we decided to stay for one more day. This place definitely makes yo feel AT HOME. Frau Brown is an amazing lady that gave us excelent tips and places to visit, she was so kind and made us feel great. The breakfast was good and the room was very clean. This is definitely a place you want to stay. It is only 3 blocks away from the U-Bahn station that takes you to the center (only 3 stops away). It is located on an Avenue where you can also take the bus. You can also make it to the center by foot. Location: EXCELLENT. Parking place in the hotel for a very low rate compared to what other hotels have been charging us.
If we ever go back to Munich, we will stay there! :)

I recently stayed at the Hotel Leopold for a Trade Show in Munich.
The hotel was in the centre of Munich a couple of minutes walk from the “münchener freiheit” underground station.

The hotel seems a small hotel but has quite a large capacity. The staff are very professional. Rooms are typically “European” in style. By this, I mean functional, clean, basic and “fairly” comfortable.

The breakfasts offering was good and extensive.

The décor was typically Germanic and could probably do with a referb’ at some point but was by no means tired. Just very dated. My personal view, only.

On the plus side the hotel’s location is ideally suited for a city break and with Munich’s fantastic public transport system (underground, trams, buses, cabs etc) it is so easy to get around and explore the city.
If you are looking to stay on business for a trade show at the Messe, be aware, this hotel is a good 45 minutes ride on the underground or a €30 taxi ride to the Messe (each way).

I would give this hotel a 3 star rating, max, given the functionality of the rooms, the décor, but the staff are very willing to help and the free wi’fi access is a plus.

One final point to make. There is no air-conditioning in the rooms and there is a church in the next street the does have significantly loud chiming bells. So if you leave the windows open, you can hear the church. I stayed in September so the rooms were cool enough to not require air-con (when the windows were left open).

Our German friends booked this hotel for us in the Schwabing district near the University. The bed was ok and the room was very quiet as it overlooked the courtyard. The breakfast was included in the price and there was a good selection. The front desk is helpful with directions and you can use the computer in the lobby for a fee. This hotel was comfortable and you can walk to the subway and it is only a few stops to the Marienplatz.

Warning, you have to step up pretty high to get in the bathtub so that might be a problem if you are older.

Over 20 years, I have stayed at Leopold dozens of times and always found it to be a satisfying experience. Privately owned and operated, this medium sized hotel is in the residential district of Schwabing on a major street, not far from the university. Thus, there are shops and restaurants more calibrated to the student and residential population than to tourists.

There are surface (bus) stops nearby and the underground (subway) is a short walk towards the center of the city. Strolling the Leopold Str. is always an interesting experience with lots of things to see and do. If you walk all the way into the city, you will pass the great Residenz and find yourself on Ludwig Str., which is the city part of the same street.

I have stayed in many different rooms and think the best are in the in the back and facing the atrium/garden, which has less street noise. Singles are small, but comfortable. Doubles are also more than adequate and always clean. There are rooms in the front of the hotel, but I do not recommend them as they face the street and many do not have a private bath.

If you stay there once, their large data base will remember you. They have records going back at least over the 20 years that I have visited them. But you need to let them know when you arrive, otherwise you will be checked in all over again.

There a fee-based, (I think 5 Euros buys you 15 minutes use time), computer for internet access in an alcove off the lobby. It has a German keyboard and takes some getting used to, but you can tap into your USA-based ISP and your emails.

Rooms at most times are in the 100 Euro range, but, like all hotels, vary with season and holidays. I have even found rooms available there during Oktoberfest, however and they were much more reasonable than other in city properties.

There is a restaurant which serves the full complimentary breakfast and, unless there is a tour group staying there, it is usually quiet and has an excellent buffet.

A few steps away, nearly hidden on a street by the police station, is the top-of-the-line Tantris restaurant, by far the best in the city, with a long history of great chefs and, at present, 2 Michelin Stars with the creative chef, Hans Hass. This is worth a visit, but reservations are often booked long in advance. Spend the hundreds of Euros you save at the hotel at the restaurant!

Towards the city and within easy walking distance, are a small market and many restaurants. Al Pachino's is a fast-moving, big portion, reasonable priced Italian spot about five minutes walk. Further towards the city center are Korean, Chinese, Mexican and steak houses (2), all with good service and reasonable prices, probably because this is a student area, not one set for tourists. I can recommend the Blockhouse chain of steak house as comparable to the American Out Back chain. You can walk or take the metro to the nearest stop.

This is an excellent, less costly, hotel in Munich for singles, couples or a small family. Parking is on premises and has, in the past, been free. There is no attraction for children in the hotel or the area, so I would not recommend this for families with children under 15 or so.

This is not a typical American-attracting hotel. It is low key and not advertised. If you want "American," there is a Holiday Inn up the street.

I hosted a trip that spent one night in Munich. Our stay was great. The front desk staff was so helpful. the rooms were clean and very nice, and the German buffet breakfast was delightful. All 10 in my group raved about my choice of hotels.

We were disappointed with the Hotel Leopold when we visited in May 04 on our honeymoon trip. The room was overly small and immediatley adjacent to the parking lot. The hotel itself seems to be a natural sound amplifier, and the interior door in our room made an odd groaning noise everytime it moved. When we approached the front desk about our discomfort we were treated rudely. The next morning, the desk attendent was much more helpful but by then we had made other arrangements and moved to a hotel down the block. Personally, I wouldn't go back.
