“Interesting place! Fantastic Breakfast”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 October 2012

This is 5 minutes from the Central Train Station. It is a funky, eclectic and artsy designed boutique hotel with really glam interior. I really liked it. The neighborhood is a mix of Arab shops, casinos and strip clubs. But hey. It was definitely interesting. It is also about 12 minutes from the Marienplatz. Very clean, very modern pop artsy and the breakfast was phenomenal. All you can eat with a huge variety of foods and coffees. No complaints about this place.

My friends and I stayed at this hotel for the second week of Oktoberfest 2012. It is very central and a quick 10-15 minute walk to the Oktoberfest fairground which is fantastic! The area that the hotel is located in looks a little shady (there are some gentlemen's clubs in the area and its a little bit grimy). However, if your intention is to go to Oktoberfest I would say its perfect. It's a 5 minute walk from the main train station, Haupbahnhof (which has trains to/ from the main Munich airport).

The hotel itself was very clean. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. We stayed in a double twin room which was decently sized. The bathroom was large with a stand up shower. My only complaint about the room is that there was no door to the shower so the water tended to spread to the rest of the bathroom. Lots of electrical outlets in the room, powerful hair dryer (a plus to a room of girls!), and nice big mirrors. I would definitely consider staying here next Oktoberfest!!

We loved the Cocoon in Munich and would stay again in a heartbeat! The atmosphere as you walk through the front doors is fun and stylish - everything is "earthy". The front desk staff are so nice and helpful (especially Kristina). Here are the little extras that we especially noticed:

- Water pressure was strong!
- Fixtures were modern with a rain shower & hand held
- Our bed was comfortable for a European hotel mattress & feather top comforter added extra padding if needed
- Room(s) had an iPod players
- Hotel was located 1 block from the Munich train station - an easy 3 minute walk
- Breakfast had a good variety of choices with pastries, yogurt, granola, fresh fruit, cappuccino/coffee, meats & cheeses, and cereal

Room Tip: None of the rooms really have any sort of view but its really OK because they're awesome on the...

The hotel is the perfect location for the main station, and the park where Oktoberfest is held is only a 5 minute walk. I agree with the other reviews about the area....it's not pretty and I personally wouldn't feel safe on my own at night, but in a couple or small group it's fine.
Staff at the hotel were fantastic, super friendly and were happy to help us with our requests.
The breakfast cost 9 euros, and was fine, a selection of cold foods and cereals. Perfect if you're on the go.
This is a great hotel to stay at if you fancy something a bit different and modern (bright color scheme and decor, and see through shower!) but perhaps avoid if you prefer traditional.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the back to avoid street noise.

We stayed 1 night. Its not the best area in Munich, but we felt safe. We did not go out late, and stayed on our street when going down to Marienplatz area.
Rooms are new and furshished in cool style. It's very clean and hotel stuff is friendly and helpful.
We did not try their breakfast, but instread walked all way down to the underground shopping center (about 3 min towards Marienplatz). There are plenty of places to eat there.
Train station is very close, so this hotel works if you need to catch a ride to the airport early.

Room Tip: ask for a room facing inwards of the building

Not a nice nabourhood, especially not really feeling safe in the evenings. Women should not go alone on the street in the dark. Close to U-bahn and Munich's main station.
The hotelroom is very small, there is no bathroom, only a shower. It's a little bit noisy. There is no hotel bar. Breakfast is good. Most staff are friendly, exceptions occur.

Room Tip: I would choose the backside, less noise of the street.

It is not often that you see the bright lemon lime color in a hotel's decor, but it does give you a sense of the cocoon, trendy, modern look they are trying to have with their latest renovations. Staff was great, the 9 Euros for breakfast I thought was a wonderful deal for all that it offered, if you are a breakfast eater! Room was perfect. Shower with glass wall could be very tight for some hotel visitors...as most European places are with compact bathroom areas because they believe everyone is slim...but a heavy-set person would find they could not turn in my shower stall. Get a room a few floors up so you are away from noise. Great location to the train station and a 15 minute walk to the main area. Staff were very helpful, but I did miss the fact until my last day that they had bicycles available.
