I went to Munich for a concert in the Residenzwoche and stayed four nights. Being late with booking, I found this address after looking during more than a day or so for a decent and affordable vacancy; my co-reviewers made me decide, when I was near desperate. I payed 79 € a night for a single, which might seem not particularly cheap, but as a new field expert I would say it is more than reasonable. The hotel is very conveniently situated next to the neo-gothic Paulskirche (not a cathedral, by the way), an oasis after the short ten minutes walk from the Hauptbahnhof, through not very pretty and trafficky streets where many of the dreary-looking hotels are that luckily were fully booked. There is an U-Bahn station literally next door, one stop from Hauptbahnhof; with ongoing works there you better walk. Hotel closes ad midnight, but you get a house key. My room was in the dépendance on the courtyard, totally quiet (but possibly it wouldn't be the case with noisy neighbours). It was quite small and basic, looking a bit anonymous like a chain hotel; but very clean, with a good mattress and pillow, good lighting, a writing table, enough room for the luggage, and a good strong hot shower. Everything I needed. Breakfast is from 7 to 10 and the Polish lady who serves it remains friendly all the time. There is coffee à volonté, and scrambled eggs are prepared freshly for you, because otherwise, as she said, they are like "gummi".
The U-Bahn by the way is Theresienswiese, so if you come during but not for the Oktoberfest, you better choose elsewhere.
My only criticism is that breakfast is served on the cover of your predecessors, which I don't find very hygienic. I would advise the manager to use paper pads. And since he is clearly a gentleman who unobtrusively likes his job well-done, I suppose this will be the case next time.
One advice: if you don't want to spoil your stay, avoid the Stadtcafé im Stadtmuseum (also serving the Filmmuseum), which is really nasty.

We stayed her for 3 nights in September 2012. It is located right next to an U-bahn station which is very convenient and is less than a 10 minute walk from where Oktoberfest is. The breakfast was good and consisted of a choice of cereals, cold meats, cheese, yoghurts, toast and jam which was more than sufficient to fill you up. There is free WIFI but it is only available in the reception or small courtyard (ask at reception for the password). The room was comfortable and simply furnished. If I visit Munich in the future I would definitely look into staying here again.

We stayed there 2 nights in July and were very pleased with it! A quite street, 10 minutes walk from Central Station, about 20 minutes walk from Old City! Excelent breakfast! Very nice courtyard near breakfast room! And free parking by the entrance! And undeground station Theresienwiese just by the entrance! And very-very helpful staff! We highly recommend this hotel!

My second visit to this friendly small hotel across the street from the Saint Paul Cathedral. Cathedral bells that start at 7 AM add to the mellow, welcoming atmosphere. A ten-minute walk from the trian station, a block from the Oktoberfest grounds, and about 15-minute walk to the center of town. Underground entrance is just outside the front door. Great buffet breakfast that offers individually-prepared eggs and better coffee than most. Room are clean and comfortable.

Room Tip: Rooms in the front face the Cathedral, windows open to let in the air and sun.

My husband and I spent three nights at this nice hotel. It was our second time to stay here. It was very clean and the staff was great, especially the day reception guy. The breakfast was something to look forward to everyday. I'm not a lunch meat for breakfast kind of girls but they had eggs and a very nice display of jellies, breads and cereal. The staff even offered us eggs everyday. They were extremely nice. However, the room was NOT cool at all and the temperatures were very high. There is no air conditioning in the rooms which is common in Germany. Also, the first night there was a party going on in the courtyard below that lasted throughout the night. We couldn't close our windows because it was too hot. However, neither of these negative things could be controlled by the hotel staff or owners. We would stay again even with those negatives. Our first trip was wonderful!

A Lovely hotel. Friendly helpful staff. The room was large enough and very clean. The location great. It was a 10 minute walk to the center but in a very nice location. A quite neighbourhood and a tube station right outside the door. The breakfast was plentiful and the overall experience good.

I recently stayed in this location with a group of students. It is clean and the staff is very nice. The breakfast is great and the location is wonderful. It is just in front of a Ubahn stop and is close to a convenience store and a few restaurants. I would recommend it for a family stay.
