We stayed at the hotel for 5 nights. We got the Maisonette Suite.
Pros:
The room (split level) was very comfortable.
The beds were very comfortable.
The rain shower was great.
It had a decent size safe and a Nespresso machine.
It is very convenient as it is next to the main train station. Marianplatz and Karlspatz are within walking distance.

Cons:
There wasn't too much room in the refrigerator for personal stuff.
It is next to the train station so the neighborhood is a bit "run down". However, we didn't feel unsafe.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms on the 8th floor.

Very easy to walk to most places from here. Right next to main station so easy for trains and also to pick up snacks. Luxurious rooms and service. Cannot fault it. Booked via Hotwire at excellent price. Visited for Xmas markets and was excellent stay.

The conceirge and reception is very polite and helpful. Every traveler would like a good rest after a long day on the road or plane, I find the mattress are too soft and hard to sleep on. The upgraded room we been offered are too small.

Dear guest,

Thank you for your feedback on your stay at Sofitel Munich Bayerpost. I am sorry to hear that we could not convince you in all areas. Regarding the bed, all beds are equipped with the Sofitel MyBed System. However, if this feels to soft, we are glad to change the bedding upon notice.

Best regards

If you’re looking for a luxury hotel at a reasonable price and great location, this hotel is the perfect fit and one that we can't wait to visit again (hopefully next year!). In my review I'll try to hit on all the standard aspects of the hotel:

-STYLE: The Sofitel is extremely chic. Its main building is in an old beautiful post office, but the rooms are located in a new addition. I loved the decor.
-LOCATION: The Sofitel is next door to the main train station, the Hauptbahnhof, which includes the subway and bus terminal. It’s about a 10 minute walk to the Marienplatz, along the pedestrian-only Neuhauser Strasse.
-ROOM: We booked two different rooms. Both were a very smart and chic design, but were too dimly lit, especially for makeup application. Both rooms had an iPod/Bose stereo system, Nespresso machine, flat panel TV, minibar, Hermes bath products, floor length mirror, a large umbrella, and robes and slippers. We also had a king size bed in each room, which was actually two smaller beds shoved together (fairly standard in Europe). I thought the mattresses were too soft; my husband had no complaints, though.

Our first room was a luxury room on the 4th floor, which had a view of the courtyard. The room was a generous size and a very cool design. It had a bath tub and a separate shower (with a rain showerhead). The wall divider between the bed and the bath areas was glass with a blind, so if you wanted to let in more light you could draw up the blind, or you could close it for more privacy. However, the water closet wasn’t designed with privacy in mind. The toilet is surrounded by glass walls that don’t go all the way to the floor/ceiling and aren’t insulated, so it’s only a bit more private than a public toilet stall. We had a few laughs about it, but I could see it being a bigger sticking point for other guests.

Our second room was a spacious Prestige Suite on the 8th floor, which had floor to ceiling windows and overlooked the courtyard, with a view of the Alps in the distance. The suite was a loft. On the first floor, we had a half bath, small closet, living room (with a flat panel TV and Bose stereo system) and a small dining area. The bedroom (with another TV), a full bath (with a large rain shower) and a walk-in closet were on the second floor. We were blown away by the suite and felt entirely spoiled.

-BATHROOM: There was excellent shower pressure to wash the shampoo out of your hair, as well as an outlet next to the mirror, so you can curl/straighten your hair. Those might seem like small things, but they are next to impossible to find in Europe! I would strongly encourage management to brighten the lighting in the bathrooms, however.
-INTERNET: Wi-fi was included in our rate but was quite slow – too slow to really watch videos and use Facetime. We purchased the upgraded internet one night (for 9 euros), and while it was better, it still was slower than we had at other hotels.
-NOISE LEVEL: We had no complaints with any noise, and I’m a light sleeper. No need for earplugs here!
-LUGGAGE RACK: No luggage racks, per se, but there was a cabinet that served the same purpose.
-BREAKFAST: Our rate included the Sofitel’s upgraded breakfast buffet, which was lovely. It included breads, cheeses and meats, eggs, bacon, French toast, yogurt, fruit, cereal, cottage cheese, champagne, juices, coffee and tea.
-SERVICE: As you would expect with a luxury hotel, the service is impeccable. We used the concierge for restaurant recommendations and to book concert tickets prior to our arrival (via email). The front desk staff was extremely helpful and professional.
-PARKING: The hotel offers valet parking for 32 euros/day.

Dear guests,

Thank you for taking the time to write such a complete review of your stay at Sofitel Munich Bayerpost. It is not often that our guests choose to try out two different room categories during their stay and it is great to hear how much you enjoyed it.

I thank you for pointing out what we might keep in mind for future renovation projects.

We are already looking forward to welcoming you again next year!

Best regards

The hotel locates right next to the train station, which is very convenient. The room itself was very clean and it also had a fancy espresso machine inside the room. I remember the concierge was very helpful!

Dear guest,

Thank you for sharing! It is very important to us to offer the little details as well in service as in room equipment that make the difference. So, at Sofitel we chose to equip all our rooms with a Nespresso machine so that you may enjoy freshly brewed coffee whenever you like.

Best regards
