We stayed two nights. This was the best hotel we stayed at on our vacation. excellent breakfast Staff was friendly and helpful. We traveled by train though Europe, this hotel is a short walk from the train station.

Very convenient to the main train station and walking distance to many attractions in Munich. We had 2 adjoining rooms for our family of 4. Can not say enough good things about the service and accommodations. The hotel is a little modern oasis off a busy street. We stayed 4 nights and each day the staff was more than helpful with our questions/request. Everyone spoke English perfectly. Rooms had mini kitchenettes and free beverages included. Wifi worked well and we were happy there was good air conditioning in the rooms. Morning breakfast was nice and had a good variety from which to choose. The only negative, which the hotel can't control, is there are a few strip clubs you must walk by. Having 2 teenage sons it made for interesting conversation, but we never felt unsafe. We would have no problem recommending this hotel to friends.

Room Tip: Both our rooms overlooked the side courtyard and were very quiet.

I stayed for one night at a weekend, and I was upgraded to a superior room, which was very welcome.
The room was spotless and very modern. There was a kettle (not common in German hotels, but very welcome) and a small kitchen with a microwave, a small hob and sufficient pots and crockery to make good use of the kitchen. The free drinks were very welcome also.
The breakfast was excellent, although, given the quality of the food, the coffee could have been a bit better: it had been stored in vacuum flasks rather than being freshly brewed when ordered.
The only real problem is that the area is a bit downmarket. I was meeting friends who live in the city, and they looked surprised when I told them where my hotel was.Walking back on my own at night felt slightly uncomfortable. But I think this is reflected in the price of the room, and it is balanced by the fact that it is very handy for the station.

This was an unexpected gem. After I had made reservations, I read all about it's supposedly seedy location. If you can ignore the presence of a strip club as one of its neighbours you have. A great hotel. First the room... Reasonably large by European standards with above average ammenities and fixtures. A small kitchenette is in the room making it convenient for fixing up a coffee of an odd hour snack for yourself. The minibar is free and replenished daily.. Good value. The wifi ... Also free, works well and connectivity was smooth. The bathrooms though slightly small we're well appointed and easy to use. The restaurant was lean and offered a good breakfast spread. There is a computer in the lounge to use for guests and printouts are free which is convenient for tickets etc. the train station is diagonally across the hotel and superbly convenient for travelling across the city and other parts of Europe too. karlzplatz and the walking zone are 2 minutes away and one doesn't neeed to use public transport to get there.

A gem in Munich's hospitality landscape. The Owner and the Managing Director personally pass by every day at your breakfast to recommend in-the-know- info about the beautiful Bavarian Capital. I have seldomly seen a breakfast prepared with so much precision, love and care. Chapeau!!!

Hotel owner comes to chat every morning with the custome rs(only speak german though :)). Breakfast is great. Location is olso great it is only 5-10 min walk to old town and main train station is next door(s-bahn and metro). Only down size is that there is some weird people hanging in the area but their are harmless. We wore traveling with 1 year old.

Room Tip: 602 is great if you want to noise free room.

Schiller 5 was a great find and one of my favorite hotels during a 3 week trip throughout Europe! I traveled with my family and we all enjoyed our stay.

The location was really good. It is right next to the Hauptbahnhof and an easy walk to the Marienplatz. The street itself is a little sketchy (i.e. a few strip clubs), but it didn't bother us as the hotel isn't very far down the street. And luckily the hotel is set off of the street with an inner courtyard, so we didn't hear any street noise!

As soon as you walk in, it's easy to see that the hotel is well taken care of by the owner (who walks around each morning during breakfast to check on his guests). The rooms were spacious with comfortable beds. The bathroom was smallish, but the shower pressure was strong (and that's what I care about!). My boyfriend and I had a room on the 6th floor and actually had a decent view over the city (the rooms on the lower floors did not). They even left a small bag of Haribo gummi bears on the pillows!

And finally, the breakfast was delicious! One of my favorite parts about traveling in Germany is the wide range of meats, cheeses, and breads at breakfast, and Schiller 5 did not disappoint! The food was fresh, tasty, and varied. The waitresses take your coffee order as soon as you sit down and are friendly and attentive. Wish I could have this breakfast at every hotel!

Would most definitely stay again.
