The staff at the hotel was very friendly and the room was spacious and clean. Even though it is not centrally located in Munich is was nice to have a peaceful quiet place to stay. The only problem we had is that my husband and I were traveling with our 18 year old son and the pull-out chair is really more appropriate for a younger child, not a full size adult. There is plenty of parking and the Indian restaurant next door is excellent. If you like walks, there is a wonderful greenway park next door. It looks like there is great outdoor seating for meals in the summer. A water fall and lots of weeping willows really make it. I would stay there again any day.

We had stayed more centrally in Munich before, but as we were only passing through for a night, we decided to stay a bit further out. The location is good, near public transport to downtown, but it does take a while to get fully downtown. It is located next to a beautiful stream which borders a greenway park that leads to the stunning Nymphennerg palace a couple of miles away.

Parking was a bit tricky as it shares a small lot with an Indian restaurant and someone's house. We parked at the restaurant and were told it was ok to leave overnight, but depending on the day and the time, it might be impossible to find a spot. The best part is right down the lane, take a left past the goat pen, and you'll find a wonderful Bavarian restaurant Das Weichandhof.

The room was nice though spartan and pretty small. We had only a twin bed and a small desk up again the wall as well as a bathroom and that was it. There was also no AC which, though the window opened and it was only in the 70s at night, meant the room never really cooled down. Wifi was available throughout and worked well.

Breakfast was an additional 8 euros and we opted out since we saw them preparing parts of it the afternoon before and we were planning on getting a very early start.

Service was ok after we checked in, but we had to wait almost an hour for someone to turn up at the front desk as there was a "be back shortly" sign up when we arrived.

If you need a comfortable place to spend a night or two and don't need to get downtown, or don't mind the trek, Hotel Schleuse is certainly a great value.

We stayed at the end of June 2013, Having been to Munich a couple of times before and also looking to get the best value for money I decided to book the Hotel Schleuse at only 59 Euros a night compared to the best part of 100 euros a night in central Munich. The hotel is about a mile from Obermenzing S bhan station on the S2 line but you can get the 143 but to Schloss Blutenburg which is just across the road from the hotel. The area in which the hotel is set is nice with various rsturants nearby within walking distance. S Bhan into central Munich takes around 10 -15 minutes it is easy to get to all areas of Munich opublic transports as well as train to other parts of Bavaria and beyond should you require this.
The Hotel itself is set back from the main road in a quiet street. The Reception staff are friendly and helpful and speak good English. They also offered Free wi fi for our entire stay of a week howeer at times this did go down but not muc of an issue and we did find this useful to plan train journeys etc. e had room 42 which is set at tehback of the Hotel. The room was large and the beds comfortable it also contained a fridge which was great for putting drinks and snacks in. The room overlooked a river which as quite noisy but we were soon used to this an also tired after an early flight into Germany so fell asleep quickly. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel as we got this each morning from a backerie down the road on the way to the bus/train however from what we saw it looked good but does come at an extra charge of 8 euros a day which is reasonable for Germany i've seen hotels charge 20 euros plus! My one complaint would be the maids who come t clean the rooms despit having a do not disturb sign on the door they would still knock at just after 9am they did go away i you said you were in but ny that time your awake, not what you need after a late night enjoying Munichs many beers or just want a late morning when on holiday ( or if you're busy, if you know what i mean its a bit off putting wondering if the door is about to open :) ). We did report his to reception bit it did happen again. They also didn't seem to do much cleaning just make the beds during our stay we also had to ask for a need toliet roll as we only had one for a whole week and this was nevr replaced so other than wake guests up I'm not sure what they did do. Not to dwell on ths as it's otherwise a great hotel for the money if you don't mind a short journey into Munich ach day. Try the Indian Restuarant in the same building as the hotel this was very nice and a reasonable price too also to see a German twist on how we have curry in the UK.

Room Tip: Room 42 is a good choice on the fourth floor and a good size.

This hotel is just a little bit outside of Munich but not so far away and is located in the middle of a wonderful park. The hotel is very very clean and the staff is very friendly. I would stay again without any doubt.

The property is on the NW edge of the city, at the end of the A8. It's situated on the edge of a small canal and was presumably a mill early in its history. There is a small lot for parking that it shares with an Indian restaurant (tried it one night. It was "OK") which occupies the first floor of the main building. Depending on the time of day/week, it may be a challenge to find an open space in the lot. Otherwise there is parking available along the lane that runs through.

I noticed many people walking, running and bicycle riding past the hotel at all times of the day. This is due to its location along a recreation trail corridor that connects to a major greenway that features the Schlosspark Nymphenburg a few miles into Munich and Blutenburg Castle, merely a block away. This was a very nice feature for someone who enjoys a nice morning run, which I did several times.

We had a 4-person room that consisted of four single beds made up into two full-size beds. There was a dorm-sized refrigerator, a desk, a closet and a 3/4 bath (shower, toilet, sink). Unfortunately, as it was late June and mid-day temps were close to 30 C our room was directly over the kitchen of the Indian restaurant, meaning it was often uncomfortably warm in the non-air-conditioned room and the smell of curry permeated everything. This is presumably the only room to have this issue.

The staff was very professional and helpful. A continental breakfast is available mornings for an additional fee (8 EUR when we were there). The location is close to public transportation, making it very easy to travel throughout the city and immediate vicinity. Nice as it was to have a restaurant in the same building, the real story was Der Weichandhof, a traditional Bavarian Inn merely 50 meters from the hotel and the end of the same lane.

Room Tip: Room 24, which is directly above the Indian restaurant kitchen, was uncomfortably hot in the summer...

A nice stay, a big renovated room, very clean, friendly, in a quiet surrounding.

Room Tip: We had a renovated room, but still smelled strong from painting. :)

The location is quite interesting, in the middle of a quiet and green area yet only 10 minutes away from the city center.
We spent only one night there and I must say it was very relaxing and comfortable.
The room was located in the "basement" and overlooking the river. The noise of the water was soothing and the bed ideal for relaxation (you could tell that mattress, pillows and duvet were brand new).
The cleanliness level was impeccable in both the room and the bathroom, which was complete of a hairdryer and soap/shower gel distributors.
Staff spoke a good English and was pretty friendly and professional.
We did not take the breakfast option at 8€ per person which we did not regret after having had a look at the buffet in the morning (food variety didn't look worth the price).
Overall, I would recommend this hotel as the quality/price ratio is pretty good.

Room Tip: We adored our room in the basement for the view and the nearby river!
