“Vos sprung durch technique”

Had a 3 night stay at the hotel. From first minute attentive staff and great room set us up for a lovely break away.

We had the breakfast each day and this was always superb

We are in the hotel restaurant and although a little pricey the food was excellent and service matched


While we at the hotel one of the breakfast services little rushed and felt hemmed into smaller side as the hotel was hosting a briefing of some watch company. So with heavies stood looking over the time pieces and roadies bringing in TV stands tvs and many other items through the breakfast room we felt this breakfast was similar to sitting in kings cross at rush hour and not a 5 star hotel. The staff did all they could but also seemed frustrated.

This said we mentioned to reception as did many others but did feel our feelings were out weighed by the obvious financil value to the show/preview of the time pieces.

Over all a lovely place and wish to say thank you to the bar staff through the evening as they represent the hotel very well.

this hotel is beautiful and the staff is excellent. Superb! The location is prefect too. The suite was
perfect with an outstanding view, Julia at reception was considerate and friendly. The staff was very responsive and went out of their way to be helpful.

The Charles Hotel is very well located. Our guests have the opportunity to explore the most beautiful city of Bavaria and its shopping district in a very comfortable way as it is only a short walk to the Munich Central Station. The famous Marienplatz is by walking distance as well.

Besides perfection, the main aim of our hotel is to ensure that our guests feel both, comfortable and familiar! From the moment you make your reservation to the time of your departure we will provide warm and courteous services. Especially our employees are taking care of making our guests feel home, far away from home and it is nice to hear that they made your stay unforgettable. Especially for your warm words regarding Julia we would like to thank you very much. Of course we forwarded them to her immediately, which was much appreciated.

We had a terrific stay at The Charles two weeks ago. The physical facilities are five-star: Beautiful, spacious, comfortable rooms; clean, luxurious bathrooms with heated floor and high-end toilettries.

The breakfast buffet (included with Leaders Club membership) was extensive, fresh, and delicious, and the service was excellent at breakfast, at dinner, and in the bar.

The location was perfect for us, 1-1/2 blocks from the main train station and from the U-bahn (subway) and tram. (Unlike many cities, "near the train station" in this case is not seedy or touristy, but rather an upscale residential area adjacent to a wooded park.) The museum district is two blocks away, and we were able to walk or take public trans everywhere. We were able to jump on the train to visit the Advent markets in other nearby towns, and to go to the airport seamlessly.

The level of service at The Charles is top-notch, professional and friendly, from the doormen to the front desk staff to housekeeping. I have to give special mention to the concierge staff, who helped my husband retrieve the eyeglasses he had left on the plane to Munich. They kept in contact with Lufthansa even after we checked out; we were back home when the concierge emailed us saying the glasses were found and would be mailed to us.

When we return to Munich, The Charles definitely would be our first choice. It is not cheap, but the level of service and comfort, as well as the ideal location, make it worth the price.

I am just recently back from a (too short) stay at the Charles. It was really a superb stay:

- the rooms facing the park are superb (these are Superior Deluxe and Deluxe rooms), with gorgeous views of the domed towers and spires of the old town.

- the hotel, with its serious pool and spa, is much more of a full-service hotel than the Mandarin Oriental

- my dinner at the hotel restaurant Davvero was quite easily the best meal I have ever had in Germany. Unbelievably great food, great service, etc. If it doesn't have Michelin stars yet, it will soon

Service was spot on.

I much preferred the Charles to the Mandarin Oriental. While you do have to walk for 10 minutes to get to the heart of the Old Town from the Charles, the views from park-facing rooms are wonderful, and the every aspect of the hotel itself was a step above the Mandarin Oriental. And personally, I preferred being within a 5-minute walk to the central station rather than being in the thick of the Old Town.

The hotel was built in 2007 and we are very proud to have a size of 40m² in the standard category to make our guests feel home, far away from home! The Charles Hotel is very well located. Our guests have the opportunity to explore the most beautiful city of Bavaria and its shopping district in a very comfortable way as it is only a short walk to the Munich Central Station and close to a garden. As you mentioned already, some of our room categories offer a nice view to the Old Botanical Garden.

Not the cheapest but this hotel must be one of the best. If the rate is within your budget, stop looking and book this place!

Rooms
We had a superior room which was on a corner and had some 8 sets of full length balcony doors! Incredible views of the park. Enormous bed, soft linen, mood lighting, lots of space, superb.

Bathroom
Wonderful shower, toiletries, big soft towels, great bath etc etc.

Food
Only had breakfast which was top drawer. All you would expect.

Service and Staff
Excellent right from the doorman, concierge, desk team, bar staff, all incredible.

Spa
We both had a massage which was great and the pool area is very relaxing.

Location
Approx a 5-7 walk from the main shopping area. Close enough to be within easy distance, far enough away to away from the noise.

Overall
We would definitely return here next time we are in Munich.

The hotel enjoys a wonderful location, walking distance to a lot of attractions. The staff are very nice and the breakfast is really really good. Rooms are of a good size and well equipped. I would not hesitate to give this hotel a 5 star rating if it wasn't for a couple of incidents that we encountered during our stay.
We were given a room on the fourth floor which is a non-smoking floor, our room, however always smelt of smoke, particularly in the toilet area and we complained about this a couple of times but they did nothing about it, not even give an explanation for the strong smell. The other thing is that my pajamas top went missing on the third day of our stay and I believe it was probably removed by mistake together with the sheets or something but we did also inform the house keeping who said they will check but again they never got back to us. When my husband mentioned both problems upon checkout he was told that we should have followed up on the smokey smell problem and asked for our room to be changed! Really? And as for the pajamas top they had no answer but did apologize for not getting back to us.
Again, this is a very nice hotel but some followup on guests' issues is much needed.

When staying in Europe, we really enjoy Rocco Forte hotels. The Charles was no exception.

We had a wonderful suite, lots of space. Great shower and even a small kitchen. Bed was super comfortable. The staff very nice and helpful.

The only thing we really don't like is the perfumed rooms. I think they use a powder on the carpets and sometimes it can be overwhelming. We found this in Villa Kennedy in Frankfort as well. Open the windows for a bit and everything is ok.
